What is urn coffin burial?
To put it simply, children and young people who died in infancy cannot be buried in coffins. The bodies must be contained in clay pots. Usually, the bodies of children can be completely included in the pots.
As luck would have it, when I was thirteen, my grandfather and I handled an urn coffin burial, so we knew a little about it.
What I didn't expect was that there were so many places on the mountain far away from our village. Grandpa never told me about this.
It's no wonder that no one is mining this mountain, and ordinary people don't dare to set foot in this mountain.
At this time, I was still halfway up the mountain. There was still a long mountain road away from the Guanyin Temple. I didn’t dare to stay here any longer. Among all the burial methods, burial in urn and coffin was the most evil. The dead children and young people could not be buried at all. If they cannot be saved, they will most likely turn into resentful ghosts and walk free.
So I took the time to run to the top of the mountain and finally saw the Guanyin Temple.
Under the illumination of the flashlight, I could clearly see the whole view of the Guanyin Temple.
The temple was in dilapidated condition, with various vines wrapping around the temple. Moreover, there were urns and coffins piled up inside and outside the Guanyin Temple, which looked like they had been there for a long time.
There are maybe 800 urns or coffins on this mountain. It seems very quiet on the surface, but I feel that the whole mountain is full of people.
I carefully walked around these urns and coffins. Some of the urns had talismans affixed to the tops. The talismans were in different colors, yellow, purple, blue, red...
Grandpa said that the darker the talisman paper, the higher the Taoism.
Any talisman affixed to the coffin must be evil!
The darker the talisman, the more evil the coffin suppresses. This is an ever-changing principle.
I didn't dare to make any mistakes. When I walked into the Guanyin Temple and looked around, I found dozens of statues placed inside. I couldn't find Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva for a while.
No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find it.
I even suspect that there is no Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva in Guanyin Temple.
Because I was too impatient, I accidentally knocked down a statue of the god. I quickly picked it up and said, "Children are ignorant, so don't blame me."
The statues here are not good-looking. Some statues cover their eyes with red cloth. After all, they are used to suppress the urn coffins on the mountain. They are no longer ordinary statues worshiped at home, so they still need to be respected more or less.
But it happened that I saw another statue under the table, which was the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva I was looking for!
But next to the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, there was a child who was naked and purple all over.
The child was about two or three years old. He was wet and trembling. It was not cold, but angry, just like a dog that might pounce on a stranger at any time.
Only then did I realize that I was the only one alive in this mountain!
I was born with strange eyes and can see dirty things at will, and this time is no exception.
But I pretended that I didn't see anything, and stretched out my hand to take it in fear, but the child suddenly showed a ferocious face and rushed towards me.
I didn't have time to dodge and fell to the ground. I thought I would be attacked by a child, but I found that I had nothing on me. I looked around and saw no children. The Guanyin Temple was very quiet and there was no movement at all.
At this moment, I snatched Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva away and ran out.
Now when I think about something, I just have to go down the mountain quickly, even if there is a steep road that makes me roll down, I have to do it.
When I ran outside, there was already a strong wind, and the sudden sound of bells made me stop. At the same time, the sounds of various children playing, laughing, and crying were mixed together.
There was no one around, but it felt lively.
I slowly looked back at the Guanyin Temple and saw a bunch of children near the temple. These children looked very mutilated. If I guessed correctly, they should all be children who died young.
But what scares me is not these little ghosts, but a child standing in the Guanyin Temple.
This child looked to be about five or six years old. He was lying on the ground like a dog. His appearance made the other little ghosts quiet down instantly. It seemed that this child was the ghost king among the group of little ghosts.
Could it be that you are here to stop me from taking away the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue?
But when I saw its appearance clearly, I was stunned!
Isn’t this who I am?
I was right. The child lying on the ground in front of me was exactly what I looked like when I was a child.
Although I have no memory before I was ten years old, I still have photos of my childhood at home, and the kid in front of me looks exactly like me!
This is not an illusion, this is real!
It crawled towards me, and I was so frightened that I couldn't move.
I could see sadness in its eyes, and it wanted to kill me.
I have no experience in this area, so I just stood there like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
Seeing that the other me had stood up and was getting closer to my body, my mind went blank and I didn't know what it wanted to do next.
"roll!"
My second uncle's voice came from behind me.
The sound was like thunder, pulling me out of my fright.
At this time, my second uncle grabbed my shoulder with his hand and his tone was reproachful.
"Didn't I tell you, no matter who calls you, don't look back!"
I knew I was wrong, so I kept my head down and dared not speak out.
"Let's go home." My second uncle patted my shoulder and took me down the mountain.
I was silent on the road. If my second uncle hadn't appeared in time, I don't know what would have happened.
But why would that kid be me?
Regarding this question, I couldn't help but ask my second uncle.
The second uncle kept silent about the matter and kept leading me down the mountain.
Due to the steep mountain road and the low battery of the flashlight, the lighting range gradually narrowed. I accidentally fell again and rolled down the mountain.
"Ayang!"
Second uncle called me.
"fine!"
I answered my second uncle loudly, for fear that he wouldn't hear me.
As soon as I stood up, my second uncle suddenly appeared in front of me!
I was stunned on the spot!
Why did my second uncle appear in front of me so quickly?
"Where are the things?" My second uncle asked me.
I just realized that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was no longer in my hand. Could it be that I just dropped it?
"Ayang, where are you?" The second uncle suddenly asked again, but this time the second uncle's voice came from above.
I suddenly realized something was wrong.
There was a second uncle standing next to him, and there was another second uncle above him.
I dared to shine the flashlight on the two uncles, and they also saw each other.
What's happening here?
"Ayang, you are born with yin and yang eyes, but if you don't have deep knowledge, you will be deceived! Come up to me," the second uncle on the mountainside said to me.
Because the existence of my second uncle made me feel safe, and what he said made me feel like I was the real second uncle.
I planned to go up, but I was caught by my second uncle beside me.
"Follow me down the mountain!" The second uncle beside him said in a cold tone.
As soon as I finished speaking, the second uncle beside me suddenly put me on his shoulders and ran down the mountain.
The second uncle on the mountainside kept calling my name and was already chasing me.
While chasing each other, I fell off my second uncle's back and rolled down the mountain again. However, while I was rolling down, I saw the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and put it in my clothes to wrap it up. He hit a hard object and fainted instantly.
