This was the first time in the Ming Dynasty that the ministers sat in silence and forced the palace.
During Zhu Yuanzhang's time, these people's heads could have been hung at the city gate to dry, but they still dared to sit in protest?
Bullying the weak and fearing the strong is not just for gangsters, officials are also good at it.
When Zhu Yunwen was angry again, he didn't chop off anyone's head. The most serious situation was just moving from Nanjing to the border, letting horses go, digging a hole, etc., but he couldn't die.
The risk is small, the profit is great, and there are "unusual disasters" and celestial phenomena to help, what can Zhu Yunwen say?
Jing Qing, Hou Tai and others were very confident that this time, they would be able to force the emperor to retreat, abolish the so-called New Deal, and return the Ming Dynasty to Taizu's system.
There were footsteps.
Jing Qing quickly looked sideways, and his expectant gaze suddenly disappeared.
What are the people from Qintian Prison doing here?
Jingqing and others were not in a position to ask questions. Qintian Prison’s Supervisor Yang Zheng and Deputy Supervisor Mahama didn’t know what was going on. They worked diligently and did not participate in the sit-in, so why were they named?
Could it be that the emperor wants to ask about the earthquake?
This matter has nothing to do with our Qintian Prison, and we will definitely not get involved.
Zhu Yunwen finally arrived outside Fengtian Palace. This was a victory for Jing Qing, Hou Tai and others. Unfortunately, this victory came too short-lived.
"Mahama!"
Zhu Yunwen shouted, but it always felt wrong. If in future generations, repeating "Mahama" to someone, it would probably lead to physical movements such as fights.
But Mahama is not an ordinary person. He is a Hui Hui and a very important figure in Qintian Prison.
Hui Hui people are actually the ancestors of the Hui people.
The origin of the Hui people can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty, such as the "Uighur" and "Uighur" people of the Anxi generation.
The word "Hui Hui" first appeared in "Mengxi Bi Tan" by Shen Kuo of the Northern Song Dynasty.
The "Huihui" in the Southern Song Dynasty included not only the "Uighurs" and "Uighurs", but also some ethnic groups west of Congling.
This is somewhat different from the Hui people of later generations.
During the Yuan Dynasty, during the Mongols' Western Expeditions, a group of Central Asian ethnic groups who believed in Islam, as well as Persians and Arabs, actively or passively entered China and were scattered throughout the country as craftsmen, businessmen, scholars, officials, and religious leaders. These people are also called "Hui Hui people".
In the Yuan Dynasty, Hui Si Tianjian was established, and Zamaruddin and other Hui people made great contributions to Chinese astronomy.
Arriving at Hongwuyuan
In 1989, Zhu Yuanzhang established the Qin Tian Jian and the Hui Hui Si Tian Jian, imitating the Yuan Dynasty system, and recruited people from the original Shangdu Hui Si Tian Jian, such as Heide'er, Zheng Ali, Madrudin, etc.
In the 31st year of Hongwu's reign, Zhu Yuanzhang abolished Hui Hui Si Tian Jian and established Hui Hui Li Ke under the Qin Tian Jian.
Mahama was the second son of Madruddin.
Madruddin was known as Mr. Dashu for his knowledge of measuring the heavens, leaving him with the reputation of "the horse of the Great Testing Hall". He once used his knowledge to predict celestial phenomena, and his prediction results were better than those of the "Tatong Calendar", so he was highly respected.
In addition, Madrudin was also an excellent translator, translating Arabic astronomical texts into China.
But Madrudin died early, in the seventh year of Hongwu. His eldest son, Masha Yihei, and his second son, Mahama, succeeded him.
The "Hui Hui Calendar" compiled by Ma Shayihei and the "Ming Translation of Astronomical Documents" translated by Mahama were major events in astronomy in the Ming Dynasty and had a great impact on astronomy at that time and in later generations.
By the time of Zhu Yunwen, Mahama was already the deputy supervisor of Qin Tian Jian. He not only knew the astronomy and calendar, but was also particularly proficient in the classics of the Ming Dynasty and had an extraordinary memory.
Seeing Zhu Yunwen's call, Mahama quickly walked out, knelt in front of Zhu Yunwen, and shouted: "I am here."
Zhu Yunwen ignored the ministers who were sitting in silence and then knelt down, but asked Mahama: "I heard that you know a lot about the history books of the past dynasties, and I want to test you today."
Mahama frowned, but still replied: "I will do my best."
Zhu Yunwen looked at Jing Qing, Hou Tai and others, and said sternly: "The officials said that the earthquake was a warning from God. It was intended to tell me that if you do not cultivate your virtues, you will have faults in your governance. Haha, I don't ask these questions. I ask you Mahama, were there earthquakes in the Tang Dynasty, and how many were they?"
After hearing this, Mahama felt relieved and said: "Your Majesty, no matter what dynasty or generation, there have been earthquakes. As for the magnitude of the earthquakes in the Tang Dynasty, please allow me to think about it."
Jing Qing, Hou Tai and others were a little flustered.
Mahama calculated with his fingers, looked up at Zhu Yunzhen, and said: "Back to the emperor, in the relevant historical materials of the Tang Dynasty, the earliest recorded earthquake was in the second year of Wude, Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, and the latest was in the second year of Qianning, Emperor Zhaozong of the Tang Dynasty. In 276 years, there were a total of ninety-six earthquakes, about one every three years.”
Zhu Yunwen nodded slightly, looked at Jing Qing and others, and asked sternly: "Is Zhenguan's rule a prosperous age? Is Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty a Ming Dynasty? Can his strategies win the hearts of the people?"
The officials remained silent.
Zhu Yunwen sneered and said: "Jing
Qing, tell me. "
Jing Qing had no choice but to bite the bullet and said, "In the prosperous era of Zhenguan, he certainly won the hearts of the people."
Zhu Yunwen looked at Mahama and said, "Tell me, was there an earthquake during the Zhenguan period?"
Mahama replied in a deep voice: "In the first month of the fourth year of Zhenguan, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, there was an earthquake, especially in gold and houses. The rivers and mountains were torn apart, and the houses were damaged and people were exposed. In the middle of September of the tenth year of Zhenguan, there was a huge earthquake. On the tenth day of the week, There is great turmoil and terror in all five miles. Zhenguan..."
"Okay." Zhu Yunwen waved his hand, looked at Jing Qing, and asked: "Did Emperor Taizong make any mistakes in the fourth year of Zhenguan? Did Emperor Taizong make any mistakes in the tenth year of Zhenguan?"
Jingqing couldn't tell.
"Since Mr. Jing won't tell me, Hou Shangshu, will you tell me?"
Zhu Yunwen looked at Hou Tai coldly.
Hou Tai kowtowed and dared not speak.
"Do any of the other officials know how to speak? Are they all mute?"
Zhu Yunwen glanced coldly at the officials kneeling on the ground.
The officials were speechless.
The rule of Zhenguan was a prosperous period praised by history books of all dynasties. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty was the wise king in the hearts of these scholars. How could he dare to say anything?
Zhu Yunwen laughed and said to Mahama: "How many disasters were there in the two Song Dynasties? How many earthquakes were there?"
Mahama considered half a cup of tea before he said to Zhu Yunwen: "Back to the emperor, there were various disasters in the Song Dynasty. In addition to earthquakes, there were floods, droughts, hailstorms, wind disasters, locust plagues, famine, epidemics, etc. The earthquake in the Northern Song Dynasty was one hundred Zero-nine times, sixty-two times in the Southern Song Dynasty."
Zhu Yunwen looked at Jing Qing and asked: "Song Renzong created the Renzong Dynasty, and the history books rated it as far superior to the "Zhenguan Dynasty" and the "Kaiyuan Dynasty". Do you agree?"
Jing Qing broke out in a cold sweat, and the other officials were silent.
Zhu Yunwen looked at Mahama. Mahama understood what he meant and said: "At the beginning of the reign of Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty, there was an earthquake in Dingxiang, which damaged the city, destroyed the houses, and killed tens of thousands of people... In the sixth year of Emperor Renzong's Qingli reign, Earthquakes in Dengzhou and Laizhou continue..."
Zhu Yunwen looked at the ministers and said sternly: "You are really good at using earthquakes and heaven to suppress me! I ask you, does the earthquake have anything to do with my governance and virtue? What does it have to do with it? Everyone has lost their face for a little profit. ,right?!"
"Since you are forcing me to marry you so much, wouldn't I be a fool if I don't agree to your request?"
"They all want to restore the ancestral system and abolish the whip law, national policy, and farming and trading, right?"
"Okay, I promise you! I will abolish these new policies for you!"
