Unconsciously, it has been a year since Lao Mo wrote this book. There have been many emotions this year, and with the end of the third volume, I would like to express my deepest feelings to you readers.
Becoming an online writer is something that Lao Mo never thought of before. Lao Mo gained a lot from writing the book "Wanli Xinming".
First, there is a huge increase in historical knowledge. Before writing, Lao Mo only knew the general outline of history and did not understand the details. After writing a book and reviewing information, a Wanli Dynasty was gradually sketched in my mind. The biggest feeling is: It turns out that people today may not be like people in ancient times. The second feeling is: all history is modern history; the final feeling is: the ancients are not historical records, but the vivid fragrance of the joys and sorrows that they once experienced on this land.
Second, I made a lot of good friends. In the past, Lao Mo expressed his gratitude in his writer's speech, but as time went by, he felt that this was not enough to express his gratitude. This emotion has gone through several stages. The first stage is that every reader who reads this book will feel cordial; the second stage is that many readers are not close friends with Lao Mo; the third stage is this emotional breakthrough. After entering the dimensional wall, I feel that everyone is just like friends in real life, with different personalities and lively lives; now is the fourth stage: discovering a lot of true love.
Third, Lao Mo’s ability to withstand stress has been greatly improved. Writing books was a hobby, during which time it became a job, and now it has become the calmness (or resignation) of a middle-aged man who realizes his own limits. After breaking through the dimensional wall, a sense of reality appeared. It is difficult for readers who do not write books (as did Lao Mo before) to feel this feeling. Lao Mo often read what he had written before, and for a long time he felt unreal. Was this book really written by me?
After summarizing the harvest, let’s talk about the book. If Lao Mo re-wrote this book, it would be much better than it is now. In the early stage, I broke away from reality and quickly advanced the plot. In the middle stage, I deviated from the outline because of worries about gains and losses, and almost collapsed. Later, I finally sorted it out, but the readability was greatly reduced.
It wasn't until this month that Lao Mo found the feeling of telling stories instead of writing papers. Lao Mo is a standard science student who loves literature, history and philosophy. This experience is very precious to me. At least now when I write a new chapter, I have a deep understanding of the word "abandonment".
For example, in Lao Mo's syllabus, there is a chapter about wool product processing or dairy product processing to solve economic problems in the grasslands and the Western Regions. But then I discovered that this kind of thing can be explained in one sentence, and the really interesting thing is Zhengji.
The description of Zhengji was originally intended to express some insights. Climbing the technology tree to enhance national power was meant to serve this theme. However, due to limited pen power and lack of knowledge, both ends were not written well.
The "Second Volume" of this book is particularly unsightly. I read it over and over again, and I think it's because Lao Mo didn't write the inner palace well. Zhang Hong's assassination of the emperor should have been foreshadowing for a few chapters, but he was depressed at that time, and the matter of writing a book was mixed with other matters, which made Lao Mo's thoughts confused. Coupled with the readers' aversion to the inner palace plot, Lao Mo was at a loss. Many plots in the outline were not included, and the result was such a very abrupt plot.
The character of Empress Dowager Li had many stories in Lao Mo's original plot arrangement - see several edicts in the chapter "Return to the Palace" for details. But because Lao Mo strayed from the outline and wandered around, not to mention losing his hair and getting sick eyes, various plot arrangements were out of touch, and the character was basically useless.
These are Lao Mo's lessons. I believe there will be a big change in Lao Mo's next volume.
The third volume is generally quite satisfactory, and it seems to have found a sense of storytelling. This volume was originally planned to have one hundred chapters—at least ninety chapters. But the two previously blocked chapters made Lao Mo furious. If the thirty chapters were really written, the book would probably be finished.
Therefore, there is probably a plot that was originally planned to be 50,000 words, but Lao Mo deleted it from the outline - if it were written, I would probably have to write it all the way to the other end of the Wakhan Corridor, sorting out the entire north. Because at this time, there is no strong force there, and Chinese civilization must always be bordering with Persian civilization to promote the development of subsequent plots.
So having Cena - the peony flower on the grassland is a little tribute to the realization of "abandonment".
Lao Mo wrote the above paragraph not to complain, but to express understanding. The pressure we are now under is unprecedented since the reform, and the struggle situation is surprisingly complex. Although some missionaries were defeated from the high ground of public opinion, their hidden troubles only made them worse. Therefore, as an online writer and dear readers - at least try to be less confusing and more understanding.
