Zhu Yijun continued: "You said that even if there is cause and effect in the past life, you can't see that you are still in this body. What if someone can see the cause and effect in the past life and the retribution in the future?"
After listening to this, Hanshan thought for a while and then replied: "What the emperor said is the 'knowledge of fate'. Only the Arahants who have attained the first fruition of Sotapanna can have such magical powers. And to achieve the first fruition of sotapanna, Huan, we must first get rid of the eighty-eight levels of confusion and experience the three great monks. The poor monk has never heard of anyone who can be born with such magical powers."
When Queen Mother Li heard Han Shan say this, she said "Ah" in surprise. When Hanshan heard Queen Mother Li's sigh, he looked up and saw Queen Mother Li staring at the back of Zhu Yijun's head.
Hanshan had many thoughts in his mind, but he never imagined that Queen Mother Li would look at Zhu Yijun as if she were seeing a living Arhat. He didn't know what the emperor meant when he asked, but he had a rare opportunity, so he went on to explain Buddhism:
"Your Majesty, there is another stanza in the Avatamsaka Sutra that says: 'The past for countless kalpas has been used to prepare the future and the present, and the future for countless kalpas has been used to prepare the past lives.' From the perspective of a poor monk, this past and future are nothing more than a cycle. My Buddha said eight The purpose of the manifestation is to spread the Dharma in this generation to liberate sentient beings in the three realms - if everyone in the world is in the Land of Ultimate Bliss and is born with supernatural powers, the first fruit of Sotapanna will not need to go through kalpas to obtain it."
Zhu Yijun had known that he could not find the answer to his own time travel in Hanshan, so he just asked the question, which was just to deceive Queen Mother Li. This would be of great benefit to him in order to rectify Buddhism and manage religion in the future.
Hearing that what Hanshan said was completely irrelevant, he interrupted: "Yes. I understand. The Queen Mother came to you this time because she wanted to ask why Princess Rongchang was born after the Dharma ceremony was held—— The Queen Mother is eager to hold her grandson." After saying that, Haha laughed first.
Both palaces laughed at the words. Empress Dowager Chen said: "The emperor is talking nonsense! You and I, the Empress Dowager, are not in such a hurry!" Empress Dowager Li did not say anything, but just knocked Zhu Yijun's hat with the handle of a round fan behind his back.
Han Shan secretly scolded this family for being dishonest. Who said that after doing the puja, he would definitely have a son? My heart was turning, and I wanted to continue to fool this family into carrying out Buddhist affairs. Anyway, depending on the emperor's physical condition, it was only a matter of time before he gave birth to a son.
Unexpectedly, the emperor did not wait for his answer, and continued: "I couldn't figure it out before. But I saw the yellow book reported by the cabinet a few days ago, and I know the cause and effect."
Hanshan's head was full of confusion, and he opened his mouth to listen to the emperor's deception: "Well, all the people in the world are my children. Nowadays, in Huguang and Jiangnan, there are many places where female infants are drowned and killed. I don't know how much murder has been caused! Is this cause and effect? I have endured some of it. This is the Buddha’s warning to me. If we don’t deal with it properly, this son will never be born!”
Because Han Shan confirmed that the emperor belonged to the Arahant status, Empress Dowager Li listened to the emperor's words at this time, which seemed to be different from that of the Buddha. After hearing this, he slapped the table and said, "That's right! The ignorant people drowned their baby girls, so the emperor can only have daughters! Master Hanshan - can he possibly resolve this crime?"
Hanshan closed his open mouth, and in a flash of thought, he knew the emperor's intention. He folded his hands and said: "To return to the Queen Mother, although all living beings are equal, murder is the heaviest crime. Anyone who kills will be reincarnated in the three evil paths, and will never be able to escape from it. Although he is killing his own child, he is still a human being, and a little bit of true spirit can Achieve the status of Bodhisattva. How can those fools kill people? They are killing Bodhisattvas! What Dharma can be done to achieve enlightenment by killing Bodhisattvas?"
Seeing the emperor nodding his head in approval, Hanshan talked eloquently again: "The cause of this boundless evil karma is the ignorance of the people. The poor monk suggested that the emperor spread this truth to the world, and let all sects in the world analyze and understand it in their sermons - —In this way, there will be immeasurable merit."
After Zhu Yijun heard this, he gave this wise monk a thumbs up in his heart. He nodded and smiled and said: "Well, I want to leave this matter to you. Later I will also find some Taoist Quanzhen to discuss the details with you and solve this matter from a religious perspective - the newspaper will also cooperate with you .”
Han Shan was secretly happy after hearing this. If this happens, it will be a great blessing! When will he be able to realize his true nature while meditating? This living Buddha has pointed out the bright road. If we don't be brave and diligent now, how can we wait?
Putting his hands together and saluting, he said: "Your Majesty's bodhicitta will shake the world in all directions. If you send this thought, you will have immeasurable merits! How dare this poor monk disobey the decree?"
After hearing this, Zhu Yijun asked again: "You must plan carefully and do it well." Han Shan agreed.
Zhu Yijun paused and said: "At this time, all the Buddhist sects in the world are enjoying the worship of the people, but they do not follow the religious teachings of the ancestors. They have violated Taizu's "Book of Shenming Buddhism" and Chengzu's "Monastic and Taoist Forbidden Covenant". Those who spend their time practicing fasting and reciting sutras often compare favors with others and have no sincerity. They even drink alcohol and eat meat, wander around and indulge in debauchery without any scruples. There are also ignorant people who falsely claim to be Taoists, confuse men and women, and mess around to corrupt the moral style. These things , do you know something?"
It was as if there was a thunderclap in his ears, and Hanshan's head was dizzy. I wonder how fat this emperor is?
We have just been given a heavy responsibility here, are we going to start shouting and killing over there? At this time, there are indeed many scum in Buddhism, those who corrupt the world and even commit crimes. But the reasons are very complicated: although there are ungodly Buddhists who take advantage of this, it is more likely that local officials and local forces use temples to control public opinion, evade taxes, and avoid labor. This big scapegoat needs to be shouldered, and I'm afraid the emperor will unleash thunder upon Buddhism!
Sure enough, I heard the emperor say: "In Hongwu, it is strictly forbidden for monks and Taoists to not follow the customs of the ancestors, and for lay people to practice yoga and call themselves Taoist priests who live in the fire. Chengzu also announced a list and stated that offenders will not be punished. Although I have the heart to worship the Buddha , but for those who disrupt our religion and pollute the Dharma, we will also do things like vajra to subjugate demons!"
After hearing this, Hanshan knelt down and said with a trembling voice: "Your Majesty, all the Buddhist deeds done by ascetics are nothing more than blessings for the country and yinyi for the emperor. How dare you violate the rules and laws? A poor monk cannot say that there is no adultery among Buddhists in the world. Violating laws and polluting the Dharma, etc., but it is indeed not appropriate to impose large-scale punishments and block the path of prosperity for the Buddha!"
After hearing this, Zhu Yijun hurriedly shouted: "Master Hanshan, you don't have to be like this. I also know that these people are a minority. But because the royal family worships Buddhism, there are indeed many places where there is such a smoky atmosphere. For example, the imperial court stipulated that today's temple temple temple, Except for those who have no land, each monk and Taoist who has land can save five acres each, exempt from rent and tax, and use it to pay for incense, and all the remaining land will be transferred to the official. In today's temples, there is no land that exceeds this amount - can there be any?"
Hanshan was speechless and looked at Queen Mother Li with pleading eyes, hoping to make her calm down. At this moment, he wished that Empress Dowager Li would become foolish again and stop the emperor from talking, otherwise the Buddhist sect would be in catastrophe.
Unexpectedly, what Empress Dowager Li was thinking was that the emperor must be the reincarnation of the Dharma Protector Arhat. He couldn't stand the pollution of Buddhism in the world, so he said this. At this time, she only admired her son in her heart, how could she have the slightest opinion?
Queen Mother Li was silent, but Han Shan wanted to reply. He reluctantly replied: "What the emperor said is that the poor monk has no excuse for this matter. The poor monk wants to ask for a decree, and he will gather the monks to make a statement about abiding by the national law - please give the emperor some time, If there are those who are obsessed with profit and don’t listen, it won’t be too late to attack again.”
After hearing this, Zhu Yijun stepped down from the throne and helped Hanshan up. He patted his shoulder lightly and said: "Well, that's very good. I have asked the Ministry of Rites, together with Buddhism and Taoism, to introduce new laws and establish an association so that you can take charge of your own religion. Today you and I will have a deep talk. I know that you know this, and from now on I will leave the heavy responsibility of protecting the Dharma to you!"
Han Shan looked like he had been spoiled. He raised his head and said to the emperor, "Your Majesty, what is an association?"
