After Sun Ce unified Jiangdong, his administration was located in Wu County, Wu County, instead of in today's Nanjing and Zhenjiang. And Sun Quan's succession was also in Wu County, not Jinling.

The core reason why the Sun Ce brothers chose Wu County as their seat of governance was the Dantu Waterway. Dantu was dug by Qin Shihuang, and Sun Ce ordered Sun He to station at the entrance of the capital and dredge the Dantu waterway to enter Tongwuhui.

The capital in Wu Shu of the Three Kingdoms is Jingkou.

Dantu Waterway starts from Jingkou and communicates with Taihu Lake, which in turn is connected with Qiantang Water. This is the reason why Sun Ce and Sun Quan used Wu County as their seat of government. They took advantage of the convenient water transportation of Taihu Lake, which connected up to the Yangtze River and down to Qiantang, to collect the money and taxes from the Taihu Lake Basin in Wuxian County (Suzhou).

When he was in Chibi, Sun Quan moved the town to Jingkou. In fact, it was to control Wuhui and the main transportation routes into Wuhui.

After all, at that time, He Qi had basically pacified Shanyue in Kuaiji, and Zhou Yu and Sun Yu had wiped out the Ma and Baoer bandits. Lu Xun, Zhu Ran and other descendants of the Jiangdong noble clan served Sun Quan.

Sun Quan's rule has been stabilized, so it is of little significance to guard Wu County, so he sits at Jingkou, close to the front line of the war.

Sun Quan had only been in Jingkou for a few months. After Chibi, Sun Quan moved to Jinling, with his destination being Jianghuai.

As for Lujiang County in the north of the Yangtze River, Sun Ce had it in his early days. However, after Sun Quan destroyed Li, it was abandoned because Sun Quan's focus was still on consolidating his position.

To a certain extent, this can be seen as a manifestation of Sun Quan's lack of strategic vision. Sun Quan did not want Lujiang, but Cao Cao sent people over the mountains to capture it.

If you own Lujiang and have a certain population, it will not be difficult to capture Hefei.

In the middle and later periods of Sun Wu's reign, Zhuge Ke's first priority was to station troops in Wancheng to spy on Hefei and Shouchun in order to seize the Jianghuai River.

Sun Wu's gains and losses in Lujiang County are better said to be the changes in Soochow Wu's strategy in the Northern Expedition.

The reason why Sun Ce is stronger than Sun Quan is that in addition to his excellent command ability, he is also superior to Sun Quan in the macro-military aspect.

When I wrote about the attack on Yu Zhang before, I briefly mentioned Sun Ce’s arrangements during his lifetime.

Zhou Yu stationed troops at Baqiu in Yuzhang (a dangerous land and water strategic point), Taishi Ci stationed at Haichang, and brothers Sun Bi and Fu served as prefects, as well as Li Shu in Jiangbei.

There are heavy defenses in the north and south, and Huo Jun's strategy will not work.

As a result, after Sun Quan came to power, Zhou Yu returned to Wu County, Li Shu was destroyed, and Jiangbei was abandoned. Two complete lines of defense were lost. Under Huo Jun's strategic vision, Yuzhang's capture could only be excusable.

Therefore, in a certain sense, Sun Quan cut off his own defensive system.

Fortunately, Liu Biao did not want to fight, and Huang Zu was defeated by Sun Ce. Otherwise, whether Sun Quan could secure Jiangdong is another matter!
