At this point, Wang Xiaolie said: "It doesn't matter if you don't know what I'm talking about at the moment. Write it down and understand it slowly when you go back. This is not to say who is smart and who is not. You have just been recruited into the school. , I have never thought about these things before, and it is very normal not to understand. As you study and work, you will slowly understand what I mean. Without explaining these contents, it is not clear why we should take this approach. We must select such people as officials in our system. Only when we explain it clearly can everyone understand that everything is not without reason."
After speaking, Wang Xiaolie asked everyone to rest for a quarter of an hour.
Standing up, Wang Ruohai pressed his hands on his waist and said to Wang Xiaolie: "Before today, I didn't know that Zhen Fu could speak so well."
Wang Xiaolie said helplessly: "It's not that I can say it, but I've been thinking about these contents for a long time, so I just took this opportunity to say them out."
Chen Qiudao said: "To be honest, I am in the dark about what the governor is talking about, and I don't even understand the general meaning. It seems that I want to borrow the people below to write it down. I will read it slowly in the future. Although I don't understand It’s very important to know exactly what the governor is talking about.”
Wang Xiaolie nodded: "Yes, it is very important. When I do things in the future, I will continue to explain based on what I said today. As time goes by, you will understand. Some things we think are not important are actually very important. Avoid It’s not open.”
After chatting for a while, everyone came back and sat down one after another.
Wang Xiaolie said: "Most of what I talked about above are issues that ordinary people don't consider, and they sound boring to everyone. What I talk about next should not be so boring. As officials, we take saints as our teachers, so naturally we cannot do without benevolence. , righteousness are two words. Let’s talk about these two words below.”
"The Tao Te Ching says that Tao gives birth to one, one gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, and three gives birth to all things. There is also a saying that all things in the world are born from being, and being is born from nothing. What exactly did Lao Tzu mean when he said this sentence? I don’t know. I don’t believe those commentaries by later generations. Today I will tell you my own opinion. Don’t get me wrong. No one knows whether I think this way or not.”
"Tao gives birth to oneness. Tao is originally something we cannot explain clearly, but the oneness that is born is something we can recognize. One is the world we know, not the world of Tao. When we know this oneness, we find that it is not everywhere Same. At the very least, there is a me and something that is not me. The most basic thing is that I and non-self are two. Can I and non-self be clearly separated? As we said before, there are degrees without boundaries. We I can distinguish between me and non-self, but I can’t find the boundary between me and non-self. What should I do? Just at the boundary, draw another part, and this part will serve as the boundary. The part drawn out as the boundary is three. And if this three is divided as before, it will give rise to countless mores and divide all things. The core of it is still limited but unbounded."
"Everyone must understand the four words "you have no boundaries". After understanding these four words, many problems will be solved. There are many ways to say what is one, what is two, and what is three. The most common one The saying is that three is the public. Three people stacked together are the characters for the public. Don’t insist on whether I am right or you are wrong in this kind of thing. It is just a different understanding. And all things are born from existence, and there is something similar to the previous one, But it is different from one. There must always be something in the world before all things can come into being. And something can only be born from nothing and cannot come from other places."
These two sentences in the Tao Te Ching have extremely high philosophical significance in the words of later generations. Not only the humanities, but also the natural sciences are highly summarized. Philosophically, something can only arise from nothing, there is no other answer. But in natural science, there are more and more signs that our universe did come from nothing.
"What I just talked about is division. Because it is necessary to divide the self from the non-self, one to two people, and all things will be born. If my role jumps out, I will not divide the world, but the world will be divided based on its original appearance. Tao gives birth to one Come out, in my eyes, this place is different from that one. Humans are different from monkeys, men and women are different. This difference is also two. When separated, it is two, so what about together? Man and woman, together they form Family. A man, a woman, plus family, that’s also three.”
"Why do I talk about this? Because I asked before, as an individual, I have my will, you have your will, so a collection of many people, does it have a will? For example, a family, does it have the will of the family? A Does a clan have a clan will? Does a country have a national will? Which of these wills are similar to individual wills? Which ones are different?"
"In Confucianism, although the predecessors did not talk about it this way, it is believed that there is a collective will. Especially the country and the nation, they think of their own will. The words benevolence and righteousness must be put into the relationship between the country and people."
"Confucius said, My way is consistent, it is just loyalty and forgiveness. This sentence was said by Confucius, and it was his summary of his own thoughts. Others always add their own opinions when summarizing Confucius's thoughts. Although there is such a thing as being confused by the authorities, But I feel that no matter how you summarize it, it is not as clear as what Confucius himself said. The two words "loyalty and forgiveness" are what Confucius considered his own thoughts."
"We all read the books of sages. We should all understand what is loyalty and what is forgiveness, but not so clearly. There is no doubt that these two words talk about the relationship between people. The simplest thing is that the king and his ministers relationship. The minister should be loyal to the king, and the king should be forgiving to the minister. Is that so? I think this is incomplete. Sometimes, should the king be loyal to the minister? Should the minister be forgiving to the king? The words loyalty and forgiveness are important. What is important is the attitude that two people need to have when facing one thing. If you do things for me, you must be loyal to me. If you do things for me, I must know how difficult it is for you to do things. Understand each other, this is forgiveness. Two people The words that come together cannot be separated. Once separated, there is no loyalty without forgiveness. Without loyalty, how can there be forgiveness?"
"The Tao of Confucius is about loyalty and forgiveness, and it talks about the relationship between two people, or two groups, or the relationship between people and the collective. In short, the Tao of Confucius does not involve collective will. Even if it involves the collective, it is the collective and the individual, which is analogous to the two Personally. Later people talked more about loyalty, but I don’t know where they forgot about forgiveness. I emphasize again that loyalty and forgiveness are connected and cannot be said separately. These two words together are benevolence. Since Confucius himself said this, there is no need to express it yourself and explain too much about benevolence."
"Benevolence talks about the relationship between two people, not the collective. Yi is different, it talks about the relationship between people and the collective. It is also about people and the collective. When talking about benevolence, it is analogous to two people. Loyalty and forgiveness must coexist. But the handouts are different. , there is no loyalty and forgiveness, only the word righteousness. I don’t want to talk about too many kinds of righteousness, but only one kind of righteousness, that is, the great righteousness of the country. For a political power, this is the most important thing."
"To be honest, I can't tell what exactly righteousness should include. To enrich the connotation of righteousness, everyone needs to work together. But one thing is certain, it requires individuals to dedicate themselves to the country. The country does not need to do it for you. Whatever you do, what needs to be done is for all the citizens, including you. In other words, there is loyalty in righteousness, but there is no forgiveness. The country's forgiveness is not for individuals, but for the citizens."
"The "Great Learning" chapter of "The Book of Rites" says that in ancient times, those who wanted to bring enlightenment and virtue to the world first governed their country; those who wanted to govern their country, first organized their families; those who wanted to regulate their families, first cultivated their own bodies; those who wanted to cultivate themselves first To rectify one's body, one must first rectify one's mind. If one wants to rectify one's mind, one must first be sincere in one's mind. If one wants to be sincere in one's intention, one must first know the truth. To know, one must first understand things. After studying things, one will know. After knowing, one will then be sincere, and then one will be sincere. If the mind is upright, then the body will be cultivated. If the mind is upright, then the body will be in order. If the family is in order, the country will be governed. If the country is governed, the world will be peaceful. Investigate things, seek knowledge, sincerity, upright mind, cultivate one's character, regulate the family, govern the country, and bring peace to the world. I don't think this sequence should be followed. Agree. Maybe it was like this in the era when the "Book of Rites" was written. But today, it is no longer necessary. Those who seek to govern the country, set up schools, and select talents have relatively clear standards, and there is no need to be so complicated."
"In short, benevolence refers to the relationship between two people. Even between people and the country, it is analogous to two people. Loyalty and forgiveness coexist, and both are indispensable. Righteousness refers to the relationship between individuals and collectives. There is only loyalty but no forgiveness. Or collective Forgiveness is not for you alone, but for all individuals. Once you understand benevolence and righteousness, when you are an official, many things will have standards."
