Dong Xiaowan walked in front with a few children talking and laughing, while Zuo Tuming and Dugu You walked behind in loneliness. Both parties had their own thoughts and went south together. There were many unsatisfactory journeys.
It was a good thing that they could find inns to stay in along the way. Zuo Tuming and Dugu You relied on their superior abilities, and they also had the backing of Biluohu and the Dragon Slaying Society, so they were not afraid of Dong Xiaowan's tricks. Often after a meal of wine and meat, they would go into their rooms, fall into bed, and then continue their journey the next day. If they were sleeping in the mountains for a long night with no door or wall between them, the two men, Zuo Tuming and Dugu You, would see the woman's body glowing when they opened their eyes, and they would know the fragrance coming when they breathed in. Since there is no wine or meat to moisten the stomach, they would inevitably Feeling refreshed and refreshed, unable to fall asleep for a long time, accompanied by thoughts of lust.
There are nine people in Dong Xiaowan and the others, but Zuo Tuming and Dugu You are only two people no matter how strong their martial arts skills are. If there is a dispute at night, Dong Xiaowan and others can win with their numbers, and they win with hidden weapons that are difficult to detect. Therefore, Zuo Tuming and Dugu You can have evil thoughts in their hearts, as long as they do not put their evil thoughts into practice, both parties can live in peace.
Because Shi Qinghua was seriously injured by Zhao Chujiong, and it was the scorching summer heat, Dong Xiaowan was by no means a heartless person, so she intentionally or unintentionally slowed down her pace south. Although Zuo Tuming and Dugu You have urged them a lot, everything must be handled with discretion, and no amount of words will help. After several days of resting, eating and lodging along the way, we crossed the Wei River and entered Chang'an.
The young people were greedy for enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way and delayed a lot of their journey. When the sun was setting, they were dozens of miles away from the small town where they could stay. Not only was I hungry, but it suddenly started raining heavily, and my clothes, baggage, and horses were all soaked. In order to take shelter from the rain, dry their wet clothes, and stay overnight, they reluctantly walked to a dilapidated temple and begged the abbot of the temple to be kind enough to take them in.
The temple is located among lush bamboo trees, with two or three lights reflected in the pouring rain, making it even more quiet and lonely.
In order to find sustenance for his body and mind, Shi Qinghua, accompanied by A Zhu, walked out of the crowd, walked to the door of the temple, and knocked on the door knocker.
After waiting for a long time, I saw the door was slightly open, and a young novice poked his head out and asked in a low voice: "Donor, are you okay?"
Shi Qinghua said politely: "I've met the young master. The young master and his group delayed their trip and missed the place where they stayed. It's raining again. I came here to borrow Guibao Temple to take shelter from the rain. I hope I can take them in for one night for convenience."
Through the light, the young novice saw a man and a woman. They seemed friendly to each other, so he replied: "Donor, please wait for a moment. Can you open the door of convenience? Let the young monk ask my abbot before making a decision." He turned around and walked into the temple. Go.
Shi Qinghua saw the young monk's rhetoric and was worried about being turned away, so he wanted to rush in and follow the young novice to see the abbot of the temple. However, when I thought that Buddhism is a pure place, and it is about letting things happen and not forcing them, I immediately gave up my thoughts and waited outside the gate calmly.
After a long while, the young novice monk came over with a lantern and said with an embarrassed look on his face: "The abbot said that the small temple is poor and crude, and it is really inconvenient to accommodate distinguished guests. Please ask the donor to find another place to stay."
If we could find somewhere else to stay at this time, why would we take our women to stay in a temple?
Shi Qinghua was angry in his heart, but he did not dare to show it. He said nicely: "Young master, can you allow me to go with you to meet your abbot in person?" He bowed slightly and said, "I am very grateful."
Seeing that Shi Qinghua was respectful and polite, and not like a bad person, the young novice reluctantly replied: "The donor has such a wish, then let me go."
Shi Qinghua bowed his hands and said, "Thank you!" He left Ah Zhu and followed the little novice monk towards the temple.
The two of them entered the temple and walked into the main hall of the temple. They saw an old monk with a white beard standing in front of the giant Buddha, knocking on wooden fish and chanting sutras.
Shi Qinghua followed the young novice and went forward to pay homage to the abbot and explain his intention.
The old monk stopped his evening lesson and said with a bitter look on his face: "Donor, the small temple is poor and shabby. It is really inconvenient for our distinguished guests to stay here. Please ask the benefactor to find another place to stay." An enlightened monk with no distracting thoughts.
Shi Qinghua thought of the eight female prostitutes outside the temple gate, and wanted to find a way to stay overnight. So he politely said: "Master, it's really dark and it's raining heavily. I'm not the one who dares to trouble Master and force this door to be opened."
The old monk didn't seem to hear. He knocked the wooden fish louder and read the scriptures louder.
Shi Qinghua was angry now and said loudly: "Master, as the abbot of the temple, how can you run it like this? There is only one young monk left in the temple, and you still ignore the donors who come to seek good fortune. Yes. Is this a pure place of Buddhism supposed to be like this?"
The old monk turned around and retorted: "It's hard for a clever woman to make a meal without rice. If you keep a guest on a rainy day, I won't stay even if it's raining. Please leave on your own."
The implication is that there are frequent wars in the border areas, and all the faithful men and women have gone away to avoid trouble. How can they bother to come to the temple to give incense money. Without income, how can I get the money to buy noodles? Without noodles, no matter how capable my daughter-in-law is, she can't make soup cakes. There is no need to leave guests to share my embarrassment.
What Shi Qinghua wanted was shelter from the rain. What he wanted to survive the night was whether he had food to eat. He replied: "It is easy for a humble man to understand the burden of having fields. On rainy days, it is a day for guests to stay. Should I stay? Stay. Abbot, please open the door for convenience."
The meaning is obvious. If all kinds of noodles are available, even the stupidest wife can make soup cakes. Why do you need to sit back and enjoy the results and be the abbot? As the abbot, you should imitate the clumsy man and cultivate your own three-acre land diligently. As for the rest, just follow the Buddhist principles of being kind and kind.
The old monk was speechless, with a look of repentance on his face. Just as he was about to quietly retreat to the Zen room to meditate, the young novice monk beside him asked quietly: "Master, do you want this donor to stay?"
Shi Qinghua said quickly: "Master practices Zen and practices Buddhism and is dedicated to doing good. He is naturally willing to let donors who come to seek good deeds stay."
The old monk has been a monk for decades. He has been practicing Buddhism since he was a novice. He finally became the abbot of a temple. How could he tamper with his original intention at will and block the door of convenience opened by the Buddha to the world? Seeing that the good and evil thoughts were flickering in the little novice's eyes, Shi Qinghua was not willing to give up until he found the door of convenience. In order to set a good example for his disciples and to carry forward the purpose of good Buddhism to enjoy good fortune, Shi Qinghua put his hands on He put his hands together and recited cheerfully: "Amitabha, I am compassionate and willing to open the door of convenience." Turn around and continue to worship the Buddha.
Seeing this, Shi Qinghua put his hands together and bowed to the Buddha statue in front of him: "Thank you very much for my Buddha's mercy, and thank you for your kind thoughts, Abbot."
The young novice monk put down his evening lessons, bowed slightly to Shi Qinghua, and said, "Donor, please come with me."
Shi Qinghua returned the favor and said, "Thank you so much, little master." He followed him out of the main hall and into a small courtyard next to him.
The little novice monk lit up the oil lamps in several rooms one by one and said: "Donor, you and your group will spend the night here. If you need anything, just call me. Don't be formal." polite."
Shi Qinghua bowed warmly and said, "Thank you so much, little master."
As the young novice came out of the courtyard, he said goodbye to the young novice and came to the gate of the temple. Seeing everyone, he said happily: "The abbot of the temple has opened the door for convenience and is willing to take me in for a night. Please come with me."
Everyone followed Shi Qinghua into the temple, stayed in the small courtyard, changed out of their wet clothes, and waited for someone to bring them food.
Unexpectedly, after a long time, the clothes were almost warm and dry, but no one came to bring food. Zuo Tuming and Dugu You were so hungry that they shouted outside the courtyard gate: "All the monks in the temple have died there. Don't you know, uncle, I haven't had dinner! I haven't seen you for such a long time. Why don't you bring me some food?" Do you want me to starve your uncle?"
After a while, the little novice monk appeared in the yard.
Zuo Tuming jumped over, grabbed the little novice by the collar, and roared: "Since your abbot is willing to take me in for the night, why don't you ask you to bring us some food? He doesn't regard us as guests at all. , or did you, a hungry ghost, steal the food on the way?"
Dong Xiaowan, Cui Yingying, Shi Qinghua and others stood at the door. They wanted to step forward and teach Zuo Tuming a lesson, but they were afraid that they were not strong enough and would be repaid badly if they failed to do good, so they had to stop thinking about being a hero.
The little novice monk said while breaking free: "Buddha's pure land, the donor must not talk nonsense."
Dugu You saw that the little novice monk seemed to be incompetent in martial arts and that bullying him was not a big deal. He said to the side: "Lao Zuo, bullying a little monk is not a big deal. If you are interested, come with me to find reason with the old monk."
"That makes sense." Zuo Tuming snatched the lantern from the little novice's hand, pushed the little novice and stepped out of the yard.
The young monk stumbled backwards, managed to stand up, followed Zuo Tuming and Duguyou, and walked towards the main hall.
The three of them came to the main hall. The old monk was already waiting at the gate. With the lights coming from the hall, the Buddha's light shone all over him.
The young novice stepped forward quickly and said to the abbot: "Master, these two donors want something to eat."
The old monk replied: "It's past midnight and it's raining. Let's go there to get something to eat."
Zuo Tuming stepped forward, glanced at the old monk, and said coldly: "Old bald donkey, it's the sky's business if it rains, and it's the people's business whether people eat or not. Why can't people know when it rains?" Have you eaten?"
The old monk said: "Amitabha! May I ask what language the donor spoke?"
Zuo Tuming smiled and replied: "I seek the way and walk with my sword, I am a solitary guest at the end of the world."
The old monk sneered and said: "If it is beneficial, come, if not beneficial, go; people leave with tea to cool down, fame and fortune are life and death. What a knight-errant from all directions! Amitabha!"
Duguyou sneered and said: "Look at your dim eyesight, but you actually know the word "ranger". You have lived all your life in vain." Then he said, "Since you know where our brothers are from, why don't you hurry up and get some food to entertain us?" I'll wait for a while, so you can continue to meditate on the Buddha with peace of mind and seek righteousness in this life."
The old monk said slowly: "Amitabha! As the saying goes, if you work hard in the fields, you will not have more or less; if you study hard, you will be virtuous even if you are not expensive. Why should the donor wander around, bully the weak, and not do his job properly? In the end, his life will be empty, with no fruits of his career. He came here in vain. Once in this world.”
Zuo Tuming took a step forward and shouted: "Old bald donkey, what did you say?"
The old monk replied clearly: "Donor, form is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from form. Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. Why should we give up our true career as a human being and stray into a heretical way, which will be of no benefit to others or ourselves?" Putting his hands together, he recited loudly: "Amitabha, how good, how good! The Dharma is boundless and allows people to repent, and all bad karma will be eliminated. Put down the butcher knife and become a Buddha on the spot. Don't you hear this?"
