No matter how broken the story is, there will eventually be a final sentence.
695 days, 4.2 million words, today, "I Used Idle Books to Become a Saint" is completed.
This is my first time writing an online article. For me, it was a wonderful journey. I saw magnificent scenery and had lovely fellow travelers. During this time, I am very grateful and satisfied.
Now, although I feel reluctant to give up, it’s time to draw the final line.
Next, enter the speech section.
Let’s talk about the end of the story first.
The ending progressed very quickly and was a bit sloppy. Some friends said it was unfinished. They also said that the story structure was too big and the writing power was insufficient, making it uncontrollable.
In fact, last month, I was caught in a struggle: how long should I write?
Friends who have read the story know that given the background of 80,000 Design, if you really want to break it off and write another one or two million words, it won’t be a big problem.
Not to mention anything else, 800,000 words will be used to wrap up the content of "Journey to the West". All the ancient sages of the human race have written it, and then all the familiar mythological characters will appear one by one. 800,000 words will be written in the Golden Fairyland, and another 800,000 words will be written in the Creation Realm. There are 800,000 words, and the finale of the canonization is 300,000 words. It is simply relaxing and comfortable, and it has nothing to do with writing skills.
And from an income point of view, although this book cannot win major copyrights, with the current results, even if it is a delayed update like me, there is no problem in guaranteeing a minimum of six figures a month.
Two million words can be written in another ten months.
However, 80,000 rejected the idea in the end.
The reason is very simple. If it is written like this, the existence of "Xianshu" will become meaningless, and the story will become a normal prehistoric story.
From 80,000's point of view, that's when it really collapsed.
Rather than being complained about by everyone later, it is better to say a decent goodbye.
Therefore, the tone I set for the finale was to fill in all the holes that should be filled in before, clarify the background and timeline, maintain the characters and logic, and then end it as soon as possible.
In addition, there is another important reason, that is, 80,000 people are indeed a little tired.
From the very beginning of this book, I was actually not prepared. There was no outline and no character design. I just opened Word and started working on it. Because I never thought it would have the results it has now, nor did I think I would write it for such a long time. After all, the original idea was just to pass the time freed up due to the epidemic.
I knew about the setting of Ten Thousand Miles of Road to Heaven about three hours before you did; I got the setting of the characters of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove almost at the same time as you; the news that changed the direction of the story one by one was not released until that chapter. I don’t know what’s in it either…
Do you think my problem is that I didn’t save the manuscript?
No, my problem is that I have to face a blank document every day, thinking about the unethical chapter yesterday, and thinking about how to pick it up!
Other authors say that the daily update is looking at the ingredients in a room and thinking about what to cook today; Baowan said that the daily update is looking at the clean balance and thinking about where to earn some money to buy food first and then cook.
Fortunately, I have a deep (not) deep (knowledge of) thick (shame), and I wrote the story step by step until now...
(Insert a word, I don’t advocate doing this, because it’s really not good)
Therefore, before 3 million words, 80,000 words could be added from time to time. After about 3.5 million words, especially after I started writing "The Romance of the Gods", the fatigue broke out. Sometimes, Bai Wan sits in front of the computer for three or four hours and just doesn't want to use his brain.
In fact, I have always felt guilty.
Therefore, for the next book, 80,000 must be well prepared, and the outline, character design, main plot, and manuscript preservation must be in place!
It’s time to completely take off the hat of being a scholar!
After finishing the concluding questions, let’s review this book.
If I were to give this first book a score, I think it would be sixty or seventy.
Not Versailles, but due to lack of preparation, I did leave a lot of regrets in the book, and many of the expressions were not excellent. This is my lesson and the experience for my next book.
The plot of this book has undergone several major adjustments.
At the beginning, Baowan wanted to write this story using the idea of a historical novel, and wrote a total of 7.8 million words, which is roughly equivalent to the length of a 45-episode script.
Therefore, there is a plot where Chen Luo enters the court, and it involves elements such as the death of the prince, the struggle for the crown prince, the resentment of the queen, the separation of the four phases, and the prince Jing. (Insert a word, the queen’s ending is mentioned in the book. After learning the truth, she went to her ancestral land to retire)
It was during that period that the average order for this book skyrocketed, reaching 10,000 orders. However, Bawan's drama was postponed again due to the epidemic, so Bawan overturned the original idea for the first time and decided to change it to a fantasy idea.
However, the previous layout was almost dead. If Chen Luo stayed in the capital, the main background could only be the dispute between the court and the court, so 80,000 designed the outskirts of the city killing that has many flaws so far, attracting the forces of the bamboo forest, and Chen Luo will be killed. He was transferred from the capital to Dongcang, and the main background was replaced with the human-barbarian struggle.
The second major adjustment occurred when Chen Luo traveled around the world.
When writing this plot, the editor-in-chief had a long chat with me. In short, he said one sentence: Travel plots are difficult to write. It's better than XXXX and XXXXX. When I was traveling through the plot, I couldn't read it anymore.
But the author always feels that he is the lucky one. In my mind, I want to use the protagonist to travel around the world, show the style of Daxuan, and describe the state of the world and people's hearts. It just fits with "The Legend of the Eight Immortals" and focuses on the world of mortals. In the middle, I also cooperate with the Yujia assassination line to complete the whole volume. narration. Including the original setting of the Seventy-Two Academy, it also serves this purpose.
but……
The follow-up reading really collapsed!
So, the second senior sister took action and slapped Chen Luo three times to Nanhuang.
Sure enough, as soon as "Liao Zhai" came out, I came back to read it again.
The third major adjustment is the bloodline tide.
There is no adjustment to the plot here, but Bawan begins to adjust the writing style in this part, tending to use lighter text expressions, increasing the "joking" element, and the style is more relaxed, including the use of emojis more frequently.
Of course, there are pros and cons to doing this. At one time, some people wondered whether the gunman had been changed.
In fact, the reasons for the adjustment are, firstly, to make myself more happy when writing, and secondly, because I am looking for my own writing style. In fact, there are some fine-tuning later on, and I still need to continue learning and working hard.
There’s not much to say about the fourth major adjustment, it’s just the plot of Gu Sect.
The plot of Gu Sect has a framework very early on. But when I actually wrote it, it happened to be a sensitive period, and the content was about external forces, court politics, and the medium of poison...
Beware of malicious reports.
Therefore, Baowan was so cowardly that he changed the entire plot.
Some of the adjustments above left me with regrets, and some gave me experience. Overall, the gains outweighed the losses.
Then, let’s talk about the parts of this book that satisfy me.
First, of course, is the creation of some characters.
For example, there are several senior brothers and sisters in Zhulin, such as Guan Sheng Sima Lie who is "watching it personally", such as Emperor Xuanzhang who is "one emperor through the ages", such as the old and powerless Qinglong Emperor, King Qilin who convinces people with virtue... and there are many other small characters. , like the "Five-literary Confucian", and the semi-sage Anjia who has a clear distinction between justice and personal feelings, etc.
Among them, what makes me happiest is having the opportunity to weave a warm ending for some people in history.
For example, the Northern King Xin Qiji, I did not let him appear on the stage to be canonized, but let him stand on the northern defense line of the human race, "to settle the affairs of the king and the world, and win fame during and after his death."
For example, Li Qingzhao was "born to be an outstanding person" and was one of the four illustrious kings. He could have a beautiful destination in his final life.
For example, the Eastern King Li He did not die young, but he wandered on the sea, thinking about how to seduce a dragon and horse to accompany him every day.
For example, Nan Wang Wen Tianxiang, how I hope his real life is actually a dream.
There is also Song Ci. Including "The Clearing of Wrongs" in the textbook is my greatest tribute to this originator of forensic medicine.
When writing about these characters, I looked through a lot of information to understand their lives. Many times it was not me who wrote the story, but their stories that gave me the direction to write.
In addition, I also wrote about many famous people in history. Some of their names may be well-known to us, while others are not so famous. Here, I would like to thank the enthusiastic readers who basically help me annotate them in the chapter reviews.
The more I get to know these sages, the more I feel that our nation is really not easy and our ancestors are really powerful.
In addition to character creation, I feel that I have done a pretty good job in developing themes of Confucianism and Taoism.
Although there is no outline and the writing is very hasty, I took Confucianism and Taoism out of pure poetry, combined it with elements of music, drama, and reconstructed the system of Wanlilu. I feel that I did a good job. For myself , what I am most proud of is not writing Journey to the West and Liaozhai, but writing The Peony Pavilion and The Injustice of Dou E...
It feels like it has a tiny bit of value.
In addition, there is something I need to brag about.
That is, before the college entrance examination last year, in my content, I accurately (accidentally) hit two college entrance examination questions. One was a discussion about the masters, masters, and ordinary players of the chessboard, which came from the bad chess player Yan Baichuan; One is about the transfer and transformation of poems, which comes from the Fang family's evaluation of Chen Luo's poems.
From the feedback, I learned that I have helped two children. I don’t know if they have been admitted to college, because they may have given up their studies later and cannot be contacted...
This book is summarized. By the way, let’s talk about future plans and respond to the concerns of friends in the group.
The next book is already being conceived. I originally planned to write a book about urban entertainment... But after communicating with the editor, I found that what I wanted to write about was disco dancing on the red line. The risk of 404 was extremely high, so I decided to change it. The next book continues the theme of ancient costume fantasy (Xianxia).
Let me rest for a while first, and then carefully prepare the outline, character design, manuscripts, etc., and then I will release it, probably in the second half of the year.
Oh, I want to advertise here.
Eighty thousand leader group!
The leader group is a WeChat group. You can add Lao Wu’s verification to join the group.
The benefits of the leader group include but are not limited to: (periodic) some peripheral gifts for books, (rare) offline small gatherings, (occasionally) previews of new books.
If nothing else goes wrong, this will be the only alliance leader among the 80,000 books in the future. In other words, if you are not an alliance leader yet, don’t rush to become the alliance leader just for this, it’s not worth it. When the next book comes out, pay attention to the official discount activities, or the alliance leader cashback activity here at 80,000, and you can participate again then.
Finally, comes the real part of the speech.
grateful.
First, I want to thank my editorial team.
Thank you to Ms. Bacon, who is fair-skinned, beautiful and long-legged. Thank you for clicking on the manuscript I submitted on the subway at 7:30 in the morning on May 24, 2021, and then sent out an invitation to sign the contract; thank her for coming all the way. support and encouragement.
I would like to thank Bei Heda, the editor-in-chief of the second group, who has always maintained an extremely professional attitude in creation and provided many suggestions that have benefited me a lot.
Secondly, I want to thank my operations team.
Thank you Lao Wu, thank you "Poor Luo Shen", thank you Chenchen, thank you "Liangyi Hanguang", thank you "Ruyu Lianlian", thank you for helping me take care of the surrounding matters of this book, so that I can type with peace of mind. ,Thank you so much.
Finally, the final thank you is, of course, to my readers.
Along the way, some people leave and some come. Some people are full of witty words in the comments, some people are silently supporting without saying a word; some people are laughing and scolding the shame of literati, some people hate that iron is not made of steel, and they are short and short; some people are generous and spend thousands of dollars in anger, and some people come from piracy and stay here for a long time...
Although 80,000 people are in a small study room, they can still feel the bustling atmosphere.
For the first time, I felt that text communication was so vivid.
Thanks.
Thank you for coming to listen to my story.
