This chapter tells the story of Tang Monk and his disciples who finally arrived at the foot of Lingshan Mountain after untold hardships. They were first greeted by the Golden Summit Immortal, and then the Buddha and the others were welcomed by the bottomless boat.

Although the bottomless boat had no bottom, it carried the four masters, disciples and the white dragon horse, chopping waves and heading towards the other shore.

On the way, the four masters and disciples saw a corpse flowing down the river. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Tang Seng himself.

According to the book, after getting rid of the fetal body, loving each other is the soul. Only when you have completed your current practice will you become a Buddha and wash away the six and six defilements of the past.

To put it simply, it means losing the physical body.



As he wrote this, Chen Luo suddenly had a flash of inspiration in his heart, and the pen in his hand paused slightly.

The book naturally talks about losing the physical body, but if it were in this world, wouldn't this situation be exactly the current situation of the Bodhisattvas in the Central Pure Land?

In order to enter the Netherworld to fight against the devil, they all gave up their bodies and entered the Netherworld with their souls!

The Tang monk in the book landed on the other side in this state and became qualified to become a Buddha; what about those Bodhisattvas of ancient Buddhism?

If you want to become a Buddha, you must connect with the way of heaven!

Chen Luo took a deep breath and continued writing.

It is said that Tang Monk went to the other side and moved forward all the way. Finally he came to Daleiyin Temple and saw Sakyamuni. Tang Monk immediately worshiped and asked for the true scripture. The Buddha sent two venerable Ananda Kassapa to take Tang Monk to obtain scriptures. However, because Tang Monk had no money to offer, the two venerables only passed down the wordless scripture.

There was an old Buddha in the sutra-storing pavilion, named Ran Deng. He felt sorry for Tang Monk because he had to travel so hard, so he sent his attendants to seize the sutra, reminding Tang Monk and his disciples that the sutra was without words.

Sure enough, after discovering that it was a sutra without words, Sun Wukong was furious and brought Tang Monk back to exchange the sutra. In the end, Tang Monk gave the purple gold alms bowl presented by the Tang Emperor, and finally got the written scripture in exchange.



After writing this, Chen Luo shook his head.

This is also the most controversial paragraph in the entire text of "Journey to the West".

At the end of the day, there was actually a plot of asking for bribes.

It is true that Wu Chengen may have had a metaphorical and ironic meaning when writing this plot, but some plots in the book have been deliberately misread by interested people.

Looking at the original work, Ananda and Kassapa said: "The holy monk is here in the east. What personnel do you have to send us? Take it out quickly so that I can teach you the sutra." After learning that Tang Monk was not prepared, they said again: "Okay. Okay, okay! If you pass on the scriptures to the next generation with nothing, future generations will starve to death!" Then he began to teach Tang Monk the scriptures.

But is giving the Wordless Scripture really revenge for not getting a gift?

When Sun Wukong went back to the Buddha to complain with the Wordless Sutra, what did the Buddha say?

The Buddha smiled and said, "Stop yelling. I already know how they asked you for personal matters. But the sutra should not be passed down lightly, nor should it be taken in vain. The monks and saints of that time came down the mountain and once said this sutra. I recited it to Elder Zhao in Savatthi State at his home to ensure the safety of the living and the detachment of the dead. I only asked him to get back three dou and three liters of rice grains of gold. I also said that they were selling so cheaply that their descendants would have no money to use it. . Now you come to take it empty-handed, so you are passing on the white version. The white version is a true sutra without words, which is good. Because the sentient beings in your eastern land are ignorant and ignorant, they can only teach it to their ears." That is. He called: "Anuo and Jiaye, the scriptures with characters are coming soon. I will check out a few volumes of each volume and give them to him. Come here to report the number."

There are two meanings in this passage. One is that the Wordless Sutra has not been misunderstood. It is indeed a good sutra, but it requires understanding to understand it; the people in the East are ignorant and may not be able to understand it. But this is not Ananda Kassapa’s problem.

The other one is that I, the Buddha, will not save me from poverty...

Bah bah bah, that’s not what I meant.

The second meaning is literally: the sutra should not be passed down lightly, nor should it be taken in vain.

So how much gold is Elder Zhao’s three buckets and three liters of rice grains?

It's about a hundred pounds, which is often called a thousand taels of gold.

This is only the cost of one recitation.

In other words, it is an experience price.

Now if we want to hand the scriptures directly to Tang Monk and take them back to the East, that means directly transferring the ownership.

Then this scripture comes too easily, and no one will cherish it.

Note here that what Ananda, Kassapa and Buddha have been talking about is "human affairs". What is this "human affairs"?

It doesn’t just mean property, but it means a gift!

In Buddhist terms, it is giving!

Buddha said several times that he would "let future generations starve to death." Where could the future generations come from? Naturally, he was talking about those mortal disciples.

There is a cause and effect involved.

If the sutras are taken with empty hands, they will have to be given to others with empty hands in the future. This is what Ananda said: "If you pass on sutras to future generations with empty hands, future generations will starve to death!"

Therefore, Ananda Kassapa taught the Wordless Sutra. This Wordless Sutra can only be understood by oneself and cannot be taught to others, thus eliminating this layer of cause and effect.

Later, Tang Monk came to exchange scriptures. He must have understood this meaning, so he took out his purple gold alms bowl.

Don't forget that there are gold characters in the purple gold alms bowl, but is it really worth it?

Tang Monk met several groups of bandits along the way. Which one wanted to steal the alms bowl?

But after being given the alms bowl, Ananda Kasyapa beamed with joy, and then passed on the Buddhist scriptures written by Monk Tang.

This is the new cause and effect.

Because Monk Tang gave alms when he was studying for Buddhist scriptures, Buddhist disciples in the future can also receive alms when they pass on Buddhist scriptures.

It doesn’t matter how much you give, what matters is that you have it! This way the monks will not starve to death.

As for those who want to be shameless, they are just fake Buddhas.



"Pay now to pay for the 400 volumes of the Nirvana Sutra of the Tang Dynasty, the 360 ​​volumes of the Bodhisattva Sutra, the 20 volumes of the Void Tibetan Sutra, the 30 volumes of the Shou Leng Yan Sutra, and the Encyclopedia of Enlightenment Sutra. Forty volumes, forty volumes of "Decision Sutra"...fourteen volumes of "Great Peacock Sutra", ten volumes of "Visitism Sutra", ten volumes of "Gu She Lun Sutra". There are thirty-five volumes in total in the Tibetan Sutra. , five thousand and forty-eight volumes were found in various departments, and they were left in the Tang Dynasty with the legends of the saint monks from the East."

As the two sages finished singing the sutra, Tang Monk finally obtained the sutra and embarked on his return journey.

The next moment, the seven-colored light shone brightly on the manuscript, and then, the golden light lit up again, and the ghostly shadows of the scriptures appeared on the manuscript.

Before Chen Luo could react, all those scriptures rushed towards Chen Luo and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Chen Luo was slightly startled, and immediately sensed a ripple on his Buddhist avenue!
