It is very scary to know that there is no right and wrong in this world, because without the awareness of right and wrong, morality cannot exist, and humans cannot be distinguished from animals. Then the so-called human world on this earth is just a slightly stronger place. Just the animal world.
The narrator said: Humans are not animals.
Ye Yu said: Humans are animals. When you indulge in low-level happiness such as wine, sex, fame and wealth, you are actually indulging in the happiness of animals. That is a sign of forgetting the happiness that humans have and should have. If people sink and degenerate in animal happiness every day, and feel accomplished in the animal happiness of wine, sex, fame and fortune, people will forget the most important thing that people should have higher pursuits. Right and wrong are higher pursuits, and morality is a more advanced pursuit derived from "right and wrong." So when you fall into nihilism and lose your judgment of right and wrong, and become corrupted, you are already an animal.
The narrator said: Then the truth you wrote is inconsistent?
Ye Yudao: It's not a contradiction, that's why we have to constantly emphasize the importance of ourselves. For everyone, this world is divided into two worlds, the inner and outer worlds. The outer world is the world in the usual sense, and the inner world is your own inner world. To this real external world, each of us is as insignificant as a drop in the ocean. No matter how powerful a person is, he or she is only a ripple at most. The main color of this world is gray, and we personally have no qualifications or ability to change it. But for our personal inner world, each of us is the most important and irreplaceable master. We can decide the color of our own inner world.
As I just said, humans should have higher pursuits to distinguish themselves from animals. That is to say, even if I live and work like a beast in the eyes of outsiders, I must not think that I am a beast, otherwise I will really not be able to turn back into a human being and can only be used by others. A puppet to be manipulated. Therefore, we must have a clear view of right and wrong, that is, a moral view.
Although everything is not divided into right and wrong, the proportion of right and wrong in each thing is different. Therefore, we must learn to judge the key points. There are many key points in morality to help us judge the key points, and then establish our own clear inner views of right and wrong, such as "benevolence, justice, etiquette, wisdom and trust". They are the five most basic ethical and moral categories summarized by ancient Confucianism.
The construction of people's inner world is like building a building. If there is chaos and no standards, then people will be chaotic and disorderly. At that time, let alone high-rise buildings, even doghouses for people can't be built. So at least your own inner world must have a clear sense of morality and right and wrong, even if it cannot be completely applied to the outer world. And when you have a clear view of right and wrong in your inner world and start to contact the outer world, you must realize the principle of "don't do to others what you don't want others to do to you" because the world is gray and we cannot change it. This world is dominated by gray. That’s why we must learn to be tolerant and empathic when interacting with other people, so as to ensure that the tall building in our inner world will not be so crooked and can be inhabited. This is the pattern and mind. At this time, this kind of tolerance is the tolerance of certitude.
The narrator said: Damn it, why didn’t you tell everything at the beginning?
Ye Yu said: So what if I told everything at the beginning, but what if I didn’t tell everything? How can I change other people's thoughts with just a few words? Is not it?
