After looking at it for a long time, the old monk shook his head and said in disgust: "This young man claims to be a scholar, but it is not in good taste to eat like this!"
Mu Fengzhi didn't dare to say anything, even licking and laughing, like a pug with a bone.
The old monk rolled his eyes, stretched out his hand, and like a miracle, took out another pig's trotter from the small pocket on his waist!
This pig's trotters is charred and yellow in the middle, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's steaming hot and fragrant. You can tell at a glance that it's incredibly delicious. It's the most delicious pig's trotters in the world!
Mu Fengzhi's eyes straightened, and he looked straight at the old monk. His eyes were easily misunderstood, as if a hungry man had seen a stunning woman without any clothes, and his eyes almost flew out of his sockets. !
The old monk couldn't help but trembled in fright, and said disgustedly: "What are you doing? I am an old monk, and you are looking at me directly, which is very malicious! Do you want to eat pig's trotters? Do you want to Just tell me if you want to eat? If you don’t tell me, how will I know if you want to eat? Do you want to eat? Just tell me if you want to eat?"
Mu Fengzhi's little chicken nodded wildly like eating rice: "I want to eat! Master is so merciful, can you give it to me? I want to eat it very much! I want to eat it very much!"
The old monk curled his lips and said: "Weren't you so arrogant just now? Were you so crazy that you couldn't stand a blow?"
He waved his hand and threw the pig's trotters over casually.
Mu Fengzhi hurriedly threw away the pig bones in his hand and reached out to catch the thrown pig's trotters. However, his strength failed and the pig's trotters rolled down into the gravel on the ground.
Mu Fengzhi crawled to the ground crazily, snatched up the pig's trotters, and opened his mouth to chew on it, regardless of whether it was dirty or not. He bit into several pieces of gravel and almost lost his teeth.
Feng Zhuanyun, gobbling up a large pig's trotters, quickly finished it.
He was still a little reluctant to let go, pressing the pig bone and licking it back and forth.
The old monk rolled his eyes speechlessly and said, "It's not good to lick pig bones. It's a bit like a dog. And for a scholar, licking pig bones like this is insulting to the gentleman!"
Mu Fengzhi smiled and nodded, still reluctant to throw it away, and licked another bite of the pork bone.
"Aren't you full? It's okay, I still have it!" The old monk seemed to be doing magic, and suddenly he took out three more pig trotters from his waist pocket!
Mu Fengzhi no longer cared about being polite at this time, and pounced on the old monk like a vicious dog pounced on its food!
The old monk handed all three pig trotters to Mu Fengzhi. Mu Fengzhi chewed them until the color of the sky and the earth changed, and the sun and the moon became dull.
Finally, after finishing three pig trotters, Mu Fengzhi was finally full. He lowered his head to look at the pig bones, thought about it, and finally restrained himself from licking them again, reluctantly putting the pig bones into his arms.
His arms were so full that he couldn't let go of the last one, so he didn't want to throw it away, so he held it in his hand, which meant he could lick it again when he was hungry.
The old monk let out a long sigh and said leisurely: "You won't take it with you alive or dead. You are not afraid of death, but you can't bear to part with a few pig bones?"
Mu Fengzhi's eyes widened: "You...what did you say?"
"Didn't you just say that you would hang yourself after eating the pork knuckle? Now that you have finished eating the pork knuckle, why don't you hang yourself?"
Mu Fengzhi had just begun to commit suicide because he was unbearably hungry and thought of his extremely failed life. He impulsively committed suicide.
Now that his stomach was full and his energy was high, coupled with the uncomfortable force that he had just hanged and was about to die, he suddenly didn't want to die anymore.
In fact, people are often like this. Decisions made on impulse are often regretted, but many people have no chance to regret.
And people who have the opportunity to regret often cherish life more than ordinary people.
Seeing Mu Fengzhi's silence, the old monk sneered: "What? You're full but don't want to die? Are you full this time, what about the next meal? What about the next meal? Do you want to find me, the old monk?" Begging? I don’t have a place to eat yet, where can I always give it to you?”
Mu Fengzhi lowered his head in shame.
Wouldn't it be shameful for a dignified seven-foot-tall man, who was also a scholar of the Ming Dynasty, to beg for food from an old monk who he usually looked down upon?
But he really didn't want to commit suicide now, and said in denial: "Isn't my belt broken? When I find a good belt, it won't be too late to hang myself."
"Where is it broken? Isn't it hanging there properly?"
When Mu Fengzhi heard this, he looked up and saw that the dirty belt was hanging on the branch of the white tree, not broken at all.
Remembering the discomfort of hanging, he reached out and took off the belt and tied it back to his waist.
"Oh? Don't want to hang yourself? You can also jump off the cliff!"
Mu Fengzhi was a little annoyed and said angrily: "I don't want to die, okay?"
"Oh, you're not dead anymore? They say death is the end of the world, but actually it's even more troublesome to die!"
Mu Fengzhi heard that there was something in the monk's words and thought of the weirdness of the monk's behavior. He couldn't help but ask: "What does it mean that you are even more troubled after death?"
"Death is not the end, but a new beginning. If you die well, it is the beginning of a perfect story. If you die by suicide, you will be punished and you will suffer countless sufferings in the future."
"Are you talking about the Yama Palace?"
"The affairs of Yama Palace are the responsibility of King Yama to take care of. I really want to know, since you don't want to die, what will you do in the future?"
Mu Fengzhi was also secretly worried in his heart. If he died, he would die. It would be simple. If he didn't want to die, things would become a little complicated. He had to eat, get dressed, and have something to do. Then he was penniless now. There is no place to stay, where should I go and what should I do?
To be a cosmopolitan beggar?
Mu Fengzhi felt a little confused for a moment.
The old monk sat on the big bluestone nearby with a smile, shook his loose sleeves, and said: "I still have another question. Just now you said that eating meat will make you unable to participate in Zen and become a Buddha. What if you become a Buddha? , can you just eat pig’s trotters?”
Mu Fengzhi thought to himself: "The Buddhist scriptures say that after the Buddha suddenly enlightened and became a Buddha, he had no self, no person, no sentient beings, no life image, and was separated from all appearances. Since these Buddhas have no form or form, they have no form. Pig's trotters are the same whether you eat pig's trotters or not. Therefore, the old monk said that after becoming a Buddha, you can eat pig's trotters at will. This is not wrong, because in the mind of the Buddha, there is no difference between eating pig's trotters and not eating pig's trotters.
"That's natural. After becoming a Buddha, the world was shattered. The Buddha said that all conditioned dharma in the world are all false, like bubbles in dreams, like dew and lightning. Everything in the world only appears due to chance, and does not really exist. , even the hardest rock will eventually collapse, so it doesn’t matter if the Buddha eats pig’s trotters.”
"Then do you think I can eat pig's trotters?"
Mu Fengzhi turned his head and looked, surprised in his heart.
I saw the old monk's head shining with thousands of colors of light, rotating like a wheel, illuminating the world in all directions. When he sat down, the bluestone turned into a seven-color golden lotus. Each piece bloomed, exuding bursts of pure fragrance. Countless lotus petals were flying around the old monk. The sound of Sanskrit singing sounds, and people feel a sense of clarity in their hearts as soon as they hear it.
Mu Fengzhi was stunned, thinking he was dreaming? Or is he already dead, so he can see such a scene?
He slapped his face hard several times and realized that it was all real and not an illusion.
He couldn't help but kneel down, kowtow to the old monk, and said: "Please also ask Buddha to save me from the sea of suffering!"
The old monk took away the Dharma image and became the same old monk again. He said, "You have eaten your pig's trotters, so why do you suffer?"
"My disciple has read four books and five classics since he was a child, but failed in many trials. His wife and children died early, and he lived in a poor family. He was scolded behind his back every day, and was always looked down upon. He has no power to tie a chicken, and no business ability. The biggest waste in the world."
"Haha, you are exaggerating. When people live in this world, speaking from a spiritual point of view, everything is false and everything is subject to change. Only the human heart remains the same and is something that you can control. If you think you are a waste, you are a waste. You think you are a genius from heaven, how can you not be able to help the world?"
"Everything is created by the heart, and everything manifests for the heart. Since you have decided that you are a waste and have no intention of working hard and striving for the top, then you are really a waste! If you are heartbroken, you will have no hope in this life! How about that? Go back and rebuild! You jump off this cliff and fall into pieces, I will capture your soul, find you a good family to reincarnate, and start over, are you satisfied?"
Mu Fengzhi slowly walked to the edge of the cliff and looked down. The cliff was so tall that it made people feel chills and dizziness in front of their eyes. The cold mountain wind blew in the face and chilled people's bones.
Am I going to jump down and end this life?
He was very hesitant and undecided.
"If I were reincarnated into a good family again, I would be able to live a very good life. Is it bound to be better than now?"
Mu Fengzhi asked himself, and was horrified: "Not necessarily! In fact, I was reincarnated into a good family in this life. My family was wealthy, my parents loved me very much, and my husband and wife were very loving. But in the end, I still ended up in this situation. If I was reincarnated again, , maybe it will end up like this?"
He suddenly turned around and wanted to say something more, but before he opened his mouth, he heard the old monk behind him say: "Go down!"
With a 'poof' kick, the old monk kicked Mu Fengzhi hard on the butt, pushing Mu Fengzhi off the cliff.
Mu Fengzhi screamed, feeling the strong wind blowing against his face, the wind in his ears, and his whole body fell to the ground quickly.
He was shocked and frightened. He closed his eyes hard and sighed secretly: "Am I going to die now? It's still a pity. In fact, living is quite good. Why should I die? It's better to die than to live. It's just that living is a bit difficult. It doesn’t matter if your life is a little bitter. If you live another life, won’t it be like this? The Buddha said that all living beings are suffering, which is actually correct. Instead of always looking forward to the next life, it is better to live this life well!”
Mu Fengzhi's mind was spinning wildly, thinking about this and that for a while, and after thinking for a long time, he realized that he was not dead yet. He was a little surprised and opened his eyes strangely.
When I opened my eyes and saw it, I was shocked.
The world before our eyes has changed.
Is this the world after death?
The whole world turned into black and white. The cliffs in front of him were black, the surrounding space turned white, and the ground below also turned black. He himself also turned black and was floating in the air.
