"Mulien Monk?"

Standing on the collapsing Zhenwu Realm Monument, Pei Wende's King Kong Realm has become the only "order" in this collapsing world.

It's just that he didn't pay attention to the changes in the outside world, but was immersed in the scene of hell he just saw with a face full of astonishment.

Especially when the underworld gods and millions of evil ghosts shouted the name "Mu Lian Monk" together, Pei Wende knew that he was in big trouble this time.

Among the many mythological systems of Buddhism, there are not many beings who can be named "Molian Monk".

As for the "Mulian Monk" who happens to be related to the underworld, Pei Wende went through all his memories of past and present lives and found only one.

That is Moggallana, one of the ten disciples of Sakyamuni and known as the "number one in supernatural power".

There are many Buddhist myths about Moggallana, and without exception, they all show his rebellious, perverse, and even somewhat deviant side.

"Xuanyin's previous life... was Moggallana?"

Among the many Buddhist myths related to Moggallana, the most famous is undoubtedly the story of "Moggallana saving his mother".

As the first in supernatural power, Moggallana is also known as the first in filial piety.

Although Pei Wende does not think that a person who has not seen his mother for many years and only occasionally thought of her and found out that her mother was imprisoned in the eighteenth level of hell is qualified to talk about filial piety.

But there is no doubt that Moggallana was a truly ruthless person.

After seeing his dead mother trapped in the realm of hungry ghosts, her throat was as thin as a needle seam, and her skin and bones were connected together, making it difficult to even open her mouth.

Moggallana ignored the fact that he could not interfere with the six realms and decided to send food to his mother.

But when Moggallana filled the bowl with food and used his magical power to send it to the realm of hungry ghosts, he discovered that his mother could not eat the food he sent.

The rice she took had turned into charcoal in her hands before she could eat it, and she couldn't help but moan as it burned.

That is the realm of hungry ghosts, where all ghosts must endure the punishment of hunger for life after life.

No matter how powerful Moggallana was, he could not give his mother a full meal.

Therefore, the angry Moggallana approached Sakyamuni and asked him why his mother fell into the realm of evil ghosts and would never be reincarnated even though he had been doing good deeds all his life and paying attention to cause and effect.

If it hadn't been for this whim, I might never have known that my mother had fallen into the realm of hungry ghosts, and would have endured the pain of hunger forever.

Unexpectedly, the Buddha showed compassion and compassion and gave an explanation that Moggallana could not accept at all.

【Moggallana! Your mother suffered this retribution because she slandered the Buddha and the Sangha, did not believe in the dharma of cause and effect, was greedy, angry and evil, and played tricks on all living beings when she was still alive. 】

[Because of the deep love between mother and child, your magical powers are covered by family affection, so you don’t know your mother’s sins! 】

Not to mention that Moggallana could not accept this explanation, I am afraid that it is impossible for any normal person to accept this explanation.

Therefore, Moggallana then stole the gold and tin Zen staff of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, broke into the eighteenth level of hell, and forcibly rescued his mother.

The eight million evil ghosts originally imprisoned in the eighteenth level of hell also took the opportunity to escape from the underworld and came to the human world.

According to myths and legends, the time when the eight million evil ghosts fled to the world was the period of war and chaos in the late Tang Dynasty.

Therefore, in most versions of the legend, there is a saying that these eight million evil ghosts transformed into cruel officials, Tang soldiers, and even demons, causing trouble to the Tang Dynasty and eventually destroying it.

At this point in the story, it can be roughly divided into several versions.

First, Moggallana was a disciple of Sakyamuni, and he held the gold and tin Zen staff of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. In addition, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva also has a legend of saving his mother.

Therefore, there are rumors that Moggallana is actually Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

After releasing the eight million evil ghosts, knowing that he was deeply sinful, He made the oath "until hell is empty, and I will never become a Buddha" in order to atone for the sins of himself and his mother.

At the same time, he also sent his divine beast Di Heng to the human world to kill and subdue the eight million evil ghosts who escaped from hell on his behalf.

Secondly, the personas of Moggallana and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva are not integrated into one.

After committing a heinous crime, even though Moggallana was the most powerful in supernatural powers, he knew that he could not escape his guilt, so after appeasing his mother, he personally went down to earth to subdue the eight million evil ghosts.

The third one is the one that Pei Wende currently feels is most consistent with the reality.

That is, after Moggallana released the eight million evil spirits, not only failed to save his mother, but he was also punished by Sakyamuni and was reincarnated as the ugly Huang Chao.

In order to punish Moggallana, Sakyamuni said that only by imprisoning those eight million evil ghosts in hell again could he regain his original appearance and magical powers, and meet his mother again.

"So, Huang Chao is Moggallana?"

Trying to recall all the myths and legends about Moggallana, Pei Wende became more confused the more he thought about it.

If Xuanyin is Moggallana, then who is Huang Chao, the "demon of luck"?

After all, it’s okay if you don’t know these myths and legends. Once you know these myths and legends, isn’t the form of ghosts and gods that Huang Chao previously incarnated into the same form that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva sat down to listen to?

It is said that Diting is the incarnation of the Nine Chou Star, gathering the images of beasts into one body, and gathering the beauty of all things into one body.

There is a tiger head, a single horn, dog ears, a dragon body, a lion tail, and a unicorn foot, which are exactly consistent with the ghostly and divine appearance manifested by Huang Chao.

【What are you thinking about? 】

Just when Pei Wende was getting more and more headache when he thought about it, Xiaoqing's voice came into his heart at the right time.

Through the telepathy brought by dual cultivation, Xiaoqing can clearly feel the entanglement and complexity in Pei Wende's heart at this moment.

[Just thinking, I seem to have gotten into some serious trouble again. 】

Regardless of who is Moggallana, Xuanyin or Huang Chao, the only thing Pei Wende can be sure of is that the legendary mythical figure Moggallana really existed.

The past life memories that I spied from Xuanyin could not be faked.

Moreover, if "Moggallana forced his way into the eighteen levels of hell" really happened in the underworld decades ago, then many things would be correct.

For example, the "Fox of Qingqiu" who always wanted to refine Pei Hui into an incarnation.

Another example is the Taishan Mansion Lord who only left part of his strength and body but was nowhere to be found.

Another example is the Wheel King hiding in the ghost town of Fengdu.

All the above show that there was indeed a huge turmoil in the underworld decades ago.

The decline of the Tang Dynasty, the birth of the Demon of Luck, and even the formation of the legend of the Eight Immortals and the Eight Immortals are all inseparable from the shock decades ago.

In short, Pei Wende finally caught some clues and details of that major incident by chance.
