Chapter 6: The land is dry, but my mood is high

I don't understand what we are looking at.

I stood in the bushes with my beautiful butterfly friend, staring out at the dry grass.

It is yellow. very good.

There is something on the yellow grass. This is something I don't understand.

-It reminds me of her trolley. But it doesn't move.

I turned my head, looked into her wary eyes, then looked back at the non-shopping cart.

Someone came out and came to the grass. We lowered our heads and hid in the bushes.

I don't like it being in the bush. The sun cannot find me here.

The thing in the grass looked like a cave, but what if it were a carriage.

ca

t-cave.

How unusual.

We watched this one of its kind roam the prairie, picking at the many dry brambles and dead bushes surrounding its shelter. Forager, male, old, gray hair.

I didn't see any other sunflowers.

My friend is indecisive. I could see it in her face, I could see it in the tension in her body.

--Relax. The sun is coming out. It's a great day. very good.

My butterfly friend made his decision and turned away, quietly retreating back to the wasteland from which we had come. Apparently, she had decided it was best not to interact with her kind.

I see.

I don't like to talk either.

After all, I am a sunflower.

We returned to the other side of the bush and kept walking, although to where, I don't know. But it's a huge, beautiful world, so I really don't care.

-[sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you will die in {8} hours

This is unusual.

The sun was shining brightly and it felt hotter than ever. I find this very enjoyable, but also unfortunate at the same time.

I'm thirsty.

If you can't find water, you'll die in {4} hours

We've been going for a while.

She looked at the word "wood" that appeared next to me and frowned. "I'm sorry," she said in a strange way. "I don't think there's any water here either."

My radiant friend knelt down, set me aside, and dug into the ground to find some moisture for both of us.

But it's all dry. There is little shade here and the sun is so bright and hot.

The soil was dry as a bone.

How unfortunate.

She shook her head, picked me up, and we both continued walking.

-[sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you will die in {3} hours

My petals are sad.

My roots are sad.

My leaves are sad.

I'm calm.

- but very sad.

I want to drink some water.

Looking at my friend, I thought she felt the same way.

But there was no water to be seen anywhere.

All around us is a prairie, plain, barren. The grass was dry and yellow as far as I could see.

Wow.

I never knew there was so much grass. The yellow color also looks great.

It reminds me of the sun.

However, the sun is very hot today.

I spread the leaves out, trying not to get too hot. But that just means I’m touched by more of the sun’s generosity.

-A puzzle.

I am a confused sunflower.

-[sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you will die in {2} hours

My friend, even though she struggles with warmth herself, seems a little crazy, although I don't understand why.

Let's calm down.

Instead of listening to me, she clung to me and ran at an odd pace somewhere between a walk and a tepid sprint. Her eyes looked around, but saw nothing but more yellow grass.

I want to know what the life of grass is like?

That must be nice.

They can sit in the sun all day long.

I imagine it might be unpleasant to get stepped on, though.

oh.

"Don't worry, we'll figure it out," she said in what I took to be a comforting tone.

Although I don't know why she would do this.

All is well after all. The sun was shining, we saw the world and its riches, we ate fruits, we sat in the sun, we saw the forest, we drank the water from the cave.

We have been blessed beyond measure.

So I'm at peace.

If the sun decides to take me away, who am I to argue?

After all, I am a sunflower.

Life is interesting.

-[sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you'll die within 30 minutes

We are in the bush. The two of us peered into the familiar bush.

The most naughty sun has played a trick on us. Even though we walked so much, we returned to where we started; in the small woods outside the car cave.

However, something has changed.

The two of us peered out from our secret spot at the destroyed carriage hole. It seemed that non-birds had been chasing us, as if they had discovered the place and left a trail of their fire.

There were no wagons on the hayfield, it was just like a gray place now. The fire burned through it, the flames engulfing its wooden bones and spreading to the dead grass around it.

When the fire is hungry, it burns more and more fiercely and spreads out in all directions, like a snake coming out of its hole.

-I like snakes. They make funny noises and they eat mice who want to steal my precious seeds.

Something crackled beside us and we turned away from the ruins. She walks around some trees and we see what's there, her kind, the one that lives here.

His face is gray, but his body is covered in red.

it is very beautiful. It reminds me of that red rock. It reminded me of my friend's face, which turned red after she stoned the non-birds.

-What precious memories.

I'm so lucky to be alive. What a blessing life has been for me.

Wow.

My beautiful friend laid me down in the thirsty dirt and walked towards the creature that looked like her, but older and male.

A suitor?

I didn't know you were ready for this phase of your life, friend. But I guess you're an adult now.

How embarrassing.

I looked away. This is just the minimum courtesy. If that bee finds me again, I don't want her watching.

But to be honest, I'm not ready for it myself. Maybe I will die before pollination?

oh. It's good.

There was a disgusting noise coming from behind me. I think this is the law of nature.

However, I am a weak-willed sunflower, so I had to look back.

She pressed herself against him, her stump beneath his head, which turned a strange purple in contrast to his red body.

What a beautiful display of color. Very magical.

It reminds me of a snake.

Maybe I made a mistake?

After all, butterflies can fly. But we can't fly. We are on the ground.

So, maybe my friend can't be a butterfly after all? Maybe she's actually a snake?

I looked at the male in all colors. His body was red, his face was purple, and his head was gray. Were they snakes? She constricted his airway, like a snake biting a mouse.

Forgive me, my snake friend, I don't know the truth.

I didn't know you were a beautiful and deadly snake.

The male penguin became quiet. he died.

Hunt.

I must apologize. I thought you had found a partner. Maybe I'm being too inconsiderate for thinking this way?

My beautiful, serpentine friend stood up, hissed like a snake, wiped her face with her stump, then came over and picked me up.

Without saying a word, she placed me on his body, then sat down with her back against a dry old tree, turned around, and looked at the rapidly growing fire in the distance.

ah.

Moisture.

My roots dug deep into his flesh. The weather is very warm. It's humid. There are minerals here. Although I prefer soil, I think this is better than death.

Although it is only possible.

I don't care about death, but if there is more life to see and more experiences to live through, then I guess I have to allow myself to be nourished by this suboptimal thing.

After all, my snake friend has been hunting me.

It's rude to say "no".

-If nothing else, I am a polite sunflower.

I drank the red water greedily. It's strong and has a metallic taste.

My friend breathed a sigh of relief and wiped her face, I didn't know why she looked sad.

After all, this was a new experience for both of us.

what a wonderful day.
