Say what you want about crime bosses. They pay their debts on time.
"Hello, sir!" Percy smiled at him as the Necromancer approached his rival's shop, ready to celebrate his victory. The boy changed his clothes into Lyons's brown police uniform, but he was allowed to carry a bow and arrows instead of a spear. "Nice to meet you."
The boy followed his advice, and the Metropolitan Guard assigned him to guard the shop until the official investigation was completed. Good for him.
"Don't pay attention to me, Percy, I'm just...looking at the scenery." Tai couldn't help but feel smug when he saw the sign nailed to the door of the store that read "Closed by royal order."
"According to the royal decree of His Majesty the King of Avalon, Runevel's store will be foreclosed until the Royal Court decides to dissolve the consortium," the Necromancer thought to himself, grinning triumphantly. "Runevel was accused of falsifying accounts, evading taxes to the crown, and bribing officials..."
The list grew longer and longer, including almost every financial crime the Necromancer knew about, plus some he didn't know existed.
Ah, no taxes. The only thing that guarantees the authorities will come after you. Bribery, price cutting, and other practices were tolerated, but not from the kingdom's tax collectors. Robin was so smart that it only took her three days after they met to bring down the hammer. The Necromancer even took a break from his underground item-making sessions to see this firsthand.
"It's unseemly to find joy in other people's pain." Tai turned around and saw Mrs. Searle being escorted by a knight in shining armor. To the necromancer's delight, the treatment restored her vitality; like a flower growing again with the sunlight, her brilliance slowly began to return. "Even if the punishment is deserved."
"No one is perfect." A side shrugged. He's done so much good for the world that he could use a little indulgence every now and then. "Madam, it is very unusual to see you outside the temple at this time."
"Chief Gales came to the city with his elite guard."
"I hear you." With his opponent taken out, the king's entourage was forced to cure himself of the poison through Tai; he had sold it at a high price. "Don't tell me you're going to join the raid?"
"There will be no raids in the foreseeable future." The woman shook her head seriously. "The chief's revenge will come after he has fulfilled his duty to our people."
Responsibility? If a leader comes to a city like Leonis with an army, it can only mean two things. "Will goblins invade?" Percy expressed Tye's own thoughts.
"No." The priestess's expression darkened. "We can expect much worse."
Another option. damn it. "Which field?" Tai asked, suddenly nervous.
"According to us (astrologers), it's either Muspelheim or Jotunheim."
Hope it's the second one. Muspelheim will be the second worst after Helheim. "How much time do we have?"
"In less than two days, the mages of the academy said so." The priestess said that the time was too short and the necromancer did not like it. "I will join the City Council, the Lord Mayor and the Governor in announcing: All citizens will be asked to either stay at home or contribute to the defense. My friends, I am afraid we will have to requisition your supplies to meet the military's needs need."
"I understand completely," the Necromancer replied, although he would put the best work first for his servants. "I will also provide direct magical support."
"I'm sorry." Percy finally found the courage to interrupt their conversation. "We...we are facing..."
"Yes," Ty replied grimly. "The fusion of fields."
Moments like this remind Walter Tai why he hates chaos.
In the end, a person can have the best plans, taking into account all reasonable factors...just for the unlikely thing to come in and mess everything up.
"It's not that bad," Laufey said. The Necromancer holed up in his laboratory, forging a new weapon surrounded by his elite. The Dark Elf sat on the table petting one of her creatures, a massive, horse-sized hellhound with black scales, blazing eyes, and a fiery breath.
"I don't see how an army of rampaging giants can help us other than perhaps testing our new weapons sooner than expected." Tai replied as he applied the last rune to a nail bone On the stick.
Convergence is not an adventurous raid. Adventurers are relatively easy to manage. They value their lives, pockets, and fun. As his recent slime experiments demonstrate, they can be easily predicted and repelled.
Those monsters coming through the gap? They are not predators, they are not mercenaries, and they are not young people full of dreams.
They are intruders. They came to conquer and kill.
Neither option is good. The frost giants of Jotunheim are savages, chaotic and unpredictable. The fire giants of Muspelheim are a group army, well-organized and with amazing combat effectiveness.
If the undead survive the Convergence, there is certainly an opportunity to craft artifacts from the remains, but the risks far outweigh the rewards.
"I have been invited to join a battalion of supporting mages," the drow said, her demon hound purring gratefully as she scratched his ears. "Mostly members of the Academy...including the Princess' pug."
Ty paused his work. Piece "Mo
ga
e?”
"The interesting thing about combat is...accidents and friendly fire happen all the time."
The Necromancer pondered this possibility, but then thought of something else. "I have a job for you," Ty said. “But it requires skill and judgment.”
"Stupid undead, those are my two middle names."
Tai shrugged and handed the mace to Hagen. "This is your weapon, (Skulltake
). "
"Thank you, boss." dullaha
Checked the weapon with pleasure. From a distance, the mace is shaped like a giant's leg, vaguely looking like a crudely crafted femur. Tai carved his head into the shape of a skull. "what's it for?"
"It deals super effective damage to [humanoids], with a 10% chance of killing them outright unless they are hit by [I
stadeath] protection. In this case, the victim's body is destroyed in a burst of negative energy, which harms nearby creatures. It can also be used as a flail. "
"Awesome," Dullahan said as he tested the gun, the skull and hand weapon separated, although the two were connected by a spine-like chain.
"Impressive, but barbaric," Duke said, brandishing the hilt of his own weapon, a longsword. The sword itself has been magically transformed into a ghost, and can now not only stun enemies, but also drain their vitality. "My weapons are the pinnacle of technology."
Spook's reaction was that he had three bone claws on each hand, emitting a dark aura.
In total, Tai had time to craft six weapons in addition to the mace. Soul-draining for Spook [Malevolent Claw], whose wounds will never heal; Longsword [Masked Sword], whose invisible blade will surprise the unwary; Vampire Dagger for Laufey (Black Arthur) The Bow [Heartseeker], to whom he entrusted his goblin servants, whose arrows always struck the true heart.
Of course, the Necromancer kept his best work to himself.
As he took up arms, Ty found himself in awe of the end result. This artifact is a long scepter two meters high, its keel material dyed black by the infused soul. A cross symbol mounted on top with a yellowish living eye inside the circular portion. A screen appeared in front of him and he examined its functionality.
Ankh Scepter Apophis
Quality: S -
Material: Soul carved dragon bone.
Stamina:250/250.
Damage: Physical +10/Magic +35
Reward: +10 CHA/[Confusion], [Charm], [Instant Death] Immunity/Resistance [Health].
Weight: 2kg.
A sinister weapon made from dragon bone, imbued with the malice of the dead. If Apophis comes into contact with a creature, the creature must pass a [Vitality] check or their soul will be ripped from their body; critical hits do not allow checks. The soul is stored in the stele, and the bearer of Apophis can summon it as a [Dark Soul] until the stele is destroyed. If the [Dark Soul] is destroyed but the tablet is not, it will regenerate after twenty-four hours.
In addition, Apophis can redirect any teleportation or summoning effect within 30 feet to a new valid destination within the same radius, immediately inflicting [Confusion] disease on the victim if it fails a Charisma check.
Tai decided to name it Apophis, after an ancient snake said to be resurrected night after night; it was a true symbol of immortality and immortality, a symbol of resistance to the reincarnation of the world. It's the perfect weapon to preserve souls in preparation for later resurrection; for this necromancer is nothing but compassionate.
"Where's that one, boss?" dullaha
He asked looking at the huge dragon skull. In order to forge his scepter, Tai had all the fangs removed and replaced them with gemstones.
The Necromancer snapped his fingers, and green light appeared in his empty eye sockets. The skull levitated on its own, confusing the servants. "This is our ultimate weapon, but we need a large space to deploy it," the Necromancer said. "I'm thinking of a bigger cave for the first level, maybe even outside the dungeon if the situation calls for it."
In fact, he wasn't sure he could control the beast because the process gave it intelligence.
With these weapons, his newly empowered goblins and alchemical rats, the Necromancer strengthens the dungeon's defenses. He is confident that he can repel any raid not led by the strongest adventurer.
But convergence, convergence is something else entirely.
As if in answer to his thought, the dungeon began to tremble.
The earthquake knocked potions and bottles to the ground, and Tai himself almost lost his footing. Laufey flew away from her table and onto the ground, while the other undead hung on for dear life from the table.
Tai immediately summoned a [Ghost Mirror] to observe through the environment around Leonis.
Leonis is a fortified city built on an island between the endless ocean of Midgard and the mighty river Vemur. On its northern shore is the dense Broxaland Forest, a kingdom of fairies and other creatures. To the south are the flat river banks and the royal roads that connect the cities of Avalon.
The main access to Lyonse is a huge south bridge, which was pulled underwater in times of war by ancient mechanisms. Beyond this, massive stone fortresses surrounded the island city on all sides, rising steeply from the water; making a siege extremely difficult.
But can it stop the giants? Certainly not Muspelheim's army. Frost Journey is easier to navigate, but also less predictable.
Tai moved his mental gaze beyond the city walls to the south bank and saw them.
A crack in the fabric of reality; shards falling from the world itself, like shards of a broken mirror. The rift keeps widening and widening, breaking the earth. A blinding light shines through these cracks, a glimpse of another universe, similar to our own yet so different.
"It's already started."
They have a few hours at most before the crack becomes large enough for the monster to pass through. They may then attempt to conquer the area and wreak havoc in the nearest population centers; i.e.,
"Hagen, seal the dungeon until further notice," the Necromancer ordered as he ended his spell. "Monsters may find ways to enter the city; including people below."
"Boss, no one can pass us."
"Very well. Laufey, follow me. We will join the human defenders above and try to control the situation there...and deal with our princess problem."
"As you wish," the black elf replied. "As for my mission..."
"You said accidents happen, especially in a siege," Tai agreed. "One thing that happens in the dungeon will interest me to excess. The death of the princess in the tunnel will unite many people to conquer the dungeon, making her a martyr."
But if it was done by a giant, and it was on the battlefield...
That would be so tragic.
