Master Enlightenment immediately put on his cassock and opened the door. A little monk said to him: Master Enlightenment, something bad has happened. This morning, a monster appeared outside the temple gate. It looked like a donkey, a pig, an elephant and a lion. It was going to crash into it. In the temple, the monks were very frightened and held the door tightly with wooden bars to prevent the monster from entering the temple.

That monster is weird and can still talk. It actually asked us to call Master Enlightenment. We are calling you now. I don’t know why. You usually get up very early. Why did you sleep so deeply this morning? Strange things happen when you sleep so deeply. The enlightened master suddenly thought, could it be the monster he saw in his dream? He said to the little monk: Don't be afraid, I'm coming.

Master Enlightenment approached the front door of the temple and heard a voice coming from outside the door: Master Enlightenment, please introduce me to the temple. Master Enlightenment echoed through the door: Are you sent by the Wheel-turning King to eliminate evil?

Don’t ask, Master Enlightenment, you just know.

Humph, you will not change your wild nature. When you come in, you must be obedient and abide by the temple rules, otherwise I will recite a spell.

Don't think about it, don't think about it, I just abide by the temple rules.

At this time, more than a hundred monks gathered at the entrance of the temple, all looking at Master Enlightenment. Master Enlightenment said: Don't be afraid, I had a strange dream last night, but I didn't know it would come true today.

What kind of strange dream did you have? the monks asked.

Master Enlightenment told the dream situation and said to the monks: Do you remember that night many years ago, the offerings in the temple were stolen.

Remember, remember. The monks responded, and some said it was the expelled soldier named Pi Shuang. Wasn't he the one who was detained for hunting wild animals and then escaped, and finally drowned in the Wangqing River?

Master Enlightenment replied: Amitabha, this is the person. His crime was not only hunting ordinary animals, but also killing two squirrels who were listening to the sutras and Dharma. Of course, stealing the offerings in the temple was also involved, so he died. Later, King Chakravartin asked him to be reincarnated as a monster before the karma appeared to come to the temple to protect him, so as to eliminate his previous mistakes. Since it is here to eliminate karma, we Buddhist disciples can only help it change its evil ways and do good, and escape from the sea of suffering. We cannot despise it.

The monster also called Master Enlightenment outside the door. Master Enlightenment personally moved the wooden poles holding the door away one by one. Seeing this, the monks also helped lift the wooden poles. Master Enlightenment opened the door with a bang, and the monster burst into the temple. The monks were frightened again, and most of them gave in.

The monster did not attack them. It walked around the temple and came to Master Wu Dao. He knelt down and bowed. Master Wu Dao said, "Please get up." The monster got up and wandered back and forth.

Master Enlightenment called another monk to make arrangements for the monster's feed and shed. The strange thing is that after the monster met Master Enlightenment and Master Enlightenment asked again, it was unable to speak. It would nod if it felt it was right, and shake its head if it thought it was unacceptable. Sometimes when it is excited or frightened, it makes a "beep-beep-beep" sound like a donkey, so the monks in the temple call it the braying donkey.

Unexpectedly, ten days and a half have passed, but I feel comfortable calling the donkey. It mainly guards the mountain gate, and can also pick up a broom and clean the temple. Because it was so huge and fierce-looking, some lay people who planned to come to the temple to burn incense stood at the mountain gate and did not dare to come in, and it did not know how to get out of the way.

The other monks asked it to get out of the way, but it turned a deaf ear, so they all sent a message to Master Enlightenment. Master Enlightenment rushed over and waved his hand, and it walked away. In order to prevent similar incidents from happening again, Master Enlightenment asked it to only guard the mountain gate at night, clean the temple during the day, and sit aside when it had nothing to do.

But one day something incredible happened. Master Enlightenment heard gunshots coming from behind the temple and rushed over. A group of monks also rushed out of the gate. I saw the donkey chasing a policeman in the woods. The policeman continued to fire his gun into the sky. The donkey was not afraid and continued to chase. There was a villager standing there, and it didn't even look at it, it just wanted to offend the policeman. Master Enlightenment was anxious, and a monk asked him: Why can't you get in trouble with the police by calling the donkey? Master Enlightenment said: Amitabha, that beast was a human in his previous life and had a grudge against the police. He once killed a squirrel as a hunter and was arrested by the police.

In the woods, the donkey was about to hit the policeman, and the policeman was about to actually fire back. It was too late to say, but it was not long before that. Master Enlightenment suddenly remembered the incantation given to him by King Chakravartin in his dream, and recited: Chakravartin's command, any violation will be suppressed. At this moment, the policeman felt strange that he had not yet pulled the trigger. He stumbled heavily as if something had happened, and he fell over, landing on his back and his feet in the air.

How did it know that this was a mantra chanted by the enlightened master that had a magical effect? After just a few chants, Barking Donkey couldn't hold on any longer. Master Enlightenment had no choice but to stop reciting, but Barking Donkey quickly got up and started chasing the policeman again.

The master of enlightenment shouted: "Ye beast!" Don't be rude. Who would listen to me calling a donkey? He hurriedly ran around again, and Master Enlightenment became angry. He recited the incantation several times, and saw the barking donkey lying on the ground foaming at the mouth, and the cry of "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee," and the Master Enlightenment stopped. , the policeman never understood what this meant, but he wanted to watch the tragic scene of the donkey braying. Master Enlightenment clasped his hands to the policeman: Amitabha! The donor will avoid it for now. This donkey had a problem with you in his previous life. You don’t have to mind. It’s fine.

In a mountain village in the south of the Yangtze River in China, there are more than a hundred families living in row upon row of houses. There is a habitual thief here who has been noticed but has never been caught. The villagers were very annoyed. Some of the summer seasonal vegetables would always be stolen. The damaged housewife stood on a high ground and looked suspiciously in one direction and cursed. She also used a chopping board and a kitchen knife to chop while cursing, as if Otherwise, it is not enough to relieve the hatred. Afterwards, when I got tired of scolding, I gave up.

Soon, another family in the mountain village had some items stolen and called the police. The police had many serious cases on their hands and had no time to work on such small cases. Later, it was the twelfth lunar month, and this mountain village was often robbed. The strange thing was that the thieves failed every time.

That time, it was at Kuang Hong's house. Kuang Hong, who had killed the New Year pig, smoked a lot of bacon. There were many portions, each weighing 30 to 50 kilograms. They were all from the city. People in the city bought the fresh pork from Kuang Hong's house. , and entrusted Kuang Hong to smoke the pork they purchased into bacon. Because smoking bacon is very troublesome, it must be marinated in salt water for about a week, and then taken out to see the sun.

If there is no sunlight, you can dry it for a while in a windy place, then hang the meat in skewers in a low sloping house, and smoke it with smoky firewood for more than half a month before it can become decent bacon; if it is smoked If the time is short, the original pale color of the bacon will be difficult to change, and it will appear oily; if the smoking time is long, the bacon will appear dark brown, dry and easy to store.

These relatively tedious processes of smoking bacon are suitable for people in the countryside, but it is somewhat inconvenient for city people. If smoke fills the streets in crowded urban neighborhoods, it will be suspected of polluting the environment, and they will definitely be subject to intervention or punishment.

Therefore, Kuang Hong took over this task and had a heavy responsibility. This was not about whether he could smoke decent bacon, but because he was worried about the bacon being stolen at home. If it is stolen, you are responsible for it. Some city residents have not paid for the meat when they buy it. They pay when the bacon is smoked. If the bacon is stolen, who will pay?

For this reason, Kuang Hong and his wife had to take turns watching at home day and night, never leaving. They were peaceful during the day but could not sleep peacefully at night.
