After the old monk Qian Jishi became a monk, the great layman Qianqian kept his promise and became a monk in Hualing Temple. However, compared with Qian Jishi, he was shallow in practice and had a weak will, so he later returned to secular life. It is not entirely accurate to say that he returned to secular life. He often lived in the temple for a period of time, and then returned to his old house to live for a period of time. This happens over and over again. Strictly speaking, he is neither a monk nor a layman. He should be a marginalized person who is neither a monk nor a layman.
Unlike the old monk Qian Jishi, he never leaves the Buddha's name, but he rarely chants the Buddha's name. But in the Buddhist hall of Hualing Temple, he was diligent in burning incense and making offerings to the Buddha. It's just that his precepts are not strict. If he is a monk, he has broken the precepts. Monks must strictly abide by the prohibition of killing, stealing, sexual intercourse and drunkenness. Of course, he seldom committed the second precept of killing and stealing, but he did not rarely commit the third precept of sexual immorality, drunkenness, and intoxication.
Let’s talk about obscenity first! A female layman who came to Hualing Temple to seek alms because she had a pretty face and some color, so he hooked up with her in a place like this. What a sin! Once, his wallet kept this female layman to eat fast, and when she was not prepared, he hugged her and kissed her wildly. The female layman didn't object too much and gave in. Then she scolded, "Are you still acting like a monk by doing this?"
Unexpectedly, Wallet Da replied: Monks are also human beings, and they still have seven emotions and six desires.
A monk must abstain from the seven emotions and six desires and become a true practitioner like Qian Jishi. The female monk said this.
Qian Da said, how many monks practicing in ordinary temples can keep up with Qian Jishi? Of course I'm not as good as that either. After saying that, he gave the female layman a hundred-yuan coin.
The female lay practitioner didn't say anything after receiving the benefit, and she came more frequently from now on. Because she always gained something every time she came, Wallet Da always gave her a hundred dollars from the money that other pilgrims or lay people put into the merit box.
In this way, the female layperson used to spend money to burn incense and worship Buddha at Hualing Temple. After that, she not only spent less money than the money given to her by the wallet, but also made a profit. Naturally, the relationship between female lay practitioners and big wallets is unusual.
Soon, a layman who came to the temple to burn incense discovered that she had an affair with Qianda, and the matter spread. As a result, the reputation of having a big wallet became worse and worse. Others did not criticize the female lay monks, but they accused the big wallet of being a monk in the temple and playing "yaoji". He was not a good monk. What's more, they even gave him a nickname: Monk Hua. This is certainly not the flower monk in "Water Margin". The Hua Monk in "Water Margin" is a hero who is full of righteousness and fights against injustice. What is a big wallet? Some people say that if he does not practice in a disciplined manner, he can only be regarded as a bear.
Due to the bad reputation of the wallet, there were fewer laymen or pilgrims going to Hualing Temple to send money for incense. Some people also ridiculed: Those with big wallets have less income, and their wallets are not big enough. They should change their names and titles, and just call them small wallets.
Let’s talk about his delirium and drinking. Of course, he still had some taboos. He did not eat meat or drink alcohol in the temple. When he got off the mountain, he would often eat large pieces of meat and drink from large bowls. He would often get drunk and tell even more lies.
Of course this was not good for him. The guardian gods in Hualing Temple saw this and not only stopped protecting him (because he was unable to protect him), they also wrote a memorial to expose his misdeeds and complained to the underworld. Soon Hades shortened his life span. In the autumn when he was 57 years old, the King of Hell sent an envoy to steal his soul. Without his soul, he soon fell ill and died.
Work is work, mistakes are mistakes. Because Qian Da had done some meritorious deeds in Hualing Temple, the King of Hades did not demote him to a beast or a hungry ghost, but allowed him to be reincarnated as a woman of lowly origin. When he became an adult, he accidentally married a woman. A poor man who makes a living by catching snakes.
That time, the reincarnated wife of the Great Purse wanted to eat snake meat. The man killed and skinned a captured viper, chopped the meat into tubes, and put it in a purple clay pot to simmer with vermicelli. When the smell of snake meat filled the room, the man went to the sink to wash onions, intending to sprinkle some chopped green onions to make the snake meat soup more delicious.
But the man never dreamed that when he came to the pool, he saw a chopped off snake head, still bloody on the ground, so he bent over and reached out to pick it up, just wanting to throw the snake head away, but as soon as his hand came closer, The snake head, which had lost its body, suddenly opened its mouth and bit one of his middle fingers unexpectedly. The pain was so painful that he couldn't pull it away. He tried hard to pull it open, but the skin was already broken. The wound on the middle finger was bleeding.
After a while, the entire palm and arm became swollen, and then the skin on his body turned black. When he ran to the outpatient department of the rural health center, his arm was swollen as big as a bucket. The doctors at the health center did not dare to admit her, so they called an ambulance from the County People's Hospital. As soon as the car arrived at the entrance of the health center, the man collapsed. Before he could be carried into the car, he died of poisoning.
His wife was hopeless because she had no children and no one to rely on. Perhaps she had a connection with the temple through her previous life, so she went to the distant Baji Temple to become a nun. There happened to be a nun in the ancient temple, whose name was: Pure fast. After Jingzhai became acquainted with her, they practiced the Pure Land Dharma together, and she also took a Dharma name: Jinghui.
So two nuns, Jingzhai and Jinghui, insisted on chanting Amitabha's holy name every day. This was considered very diligent. They chanted the Buddha's name together for decades. When Jinghui was 104 years old and Jingzhai was 102 years old, they were still going strong. His eyesight is not blurred, his ears are not deafened, and his teeth are not bad either. It should be that he has been blessed by the power of Buddha, and his vital signs are so extraordinary.
One day, Jinghui, who was chanting the Buddha's name with a ring of beads that were already bright to the touch, suddenly said to Jingzhai, "Junior brother" (women in the temple are taboo to call them sisters, even women are called men), Last night, Amitabha came to me in my dream riding auspicious clouds and told me that in three days, he would come to take me to the Western Paradise. This is a very good thing. Maybe in two years' time, when junior brother reaches 104 years old, Amitabha will also tell you in your dream that he will lead you to the Western Paradise to enjoy the bliss!
Unexpectedly, Nun Jingzhai was not happy after hearing this, but said, Brother, you can't leave! You go to the Western Paradise. I am a nun in this ancient Baji Temple. Especially at night, I sit with a clear lamp and face the cold wall. I feel so lonely! Don't leave! This ancient temple is quite good. Believers from all over provide food and drinks. Isn’t this place worse than the Western Paradise? !
Unexpectedly, after Nun Jinghui was persuaded like this by Nun Jingzhai, she retreated from her Taoist heart. She was obviously greedy for the leisure and freedom in Jialan and all kinds of convenient offerings, so she said, "Okay!" I will not go to the Western Paradise and stay with you.
Nun Jingzhai immediately became happy, took Nun Jinghui’s hand and said, we have been together for decades, how can we separate?
Yes! We will not be separated. Nun Jinghui echoed.
After saying this, Nun Jinghui was completely confused that night, and she was no longer "Jinghui" at all. On the third day, Amitabha and the other three Western saints did not come to pick her up. However, her soul was seduced by the messengers sent by King Yama, and she died of illness on the afternoon of the fourth day.
Nun Jingzhai was also confused the next day. Less than ten days later, she walked out of the gate of the ancient temple and when she got off the bed, a cold wind blew. She shuddered, her body trembled, and the soles of her feet slipped. Unfortunately, he fell down and died.
One day, two Dharma protectors discussed together: After all, the two nuns had recited the Buddha's name for decades. Although they both retreated from the Taoism in the end, they still had merit. They kept their bodies after death, and they could transform into men. .
Nun Jinghui was reborn in a family named Liang Youde in Liangjiafan Village, not far from our Baji Ancient Temple. Nun Jingzhai was reborn in a mountain village further away. She had already given birth and was pregnant with a girl who was pregnant out of wedlock. She was not yet born, so she did not give her a name.
