After walking only a few steps, I heard a mixed voice saying, why did you let the monks pass and not let us pass? We are lay people and we also want to go to Nalanda Temple. Qian Jishi stopped and looked back, and found that there were more than ten people, both men and women. Although they were not wearing monk robes, they were all wearing similar blue jackets, with a large Buddha character embroidered on the back. , indicating that they are also believers who have taken refuge in Buddhism. They all stood outside the large parking lot and shouted to the young man, let us go quickly.
no! very dangerous. As the young man spoke, he stretched out his arms in a blocking gesture.
At this time, Qian Jishi turned around and said to the young man, Donor, just let them go!
How can it be? Can you take responsibility if something goes wrong? The young man asked with a smile.
I can take responsibility. Qian Jishi answered affirmatively.
This is no joke. There are Tibetan Mastiffs halfway up the mountain, and there have been problems before. You say you are responsible, but you are just like a clay Bodhisattva crossing a river. You cannot protect yourself, how can you protect them? Stop laughing at me. The young man didn't believe what Qian Jishi said at all, so he said this.
You give them to me and I will protect them. Qian Jishi said this not because he had any confidence, but because he felt that all living beings have Buddha nature and Tathagata virtues, and the Tibetan Mastiff is also one of the living beings. As long as he sincerely recites the compassionate name of the Buddha, the Buddha nature or Tathagata virtues of the Tibetan Mastiff can be awakened. , it won’t bite. This makes sense in theory, but the reality is cruel. Is it really what Qian Jishi imagined? In fact, it's a different story.
At the moment, the young man still didn't believe him, but seeing the confidence and auspiciousness on his face, he still believed him a little, but he couldn't convince himself. What reason did he have to believe him? Before the young man could find the right words to persuade Qian Jishi, Qian Shiji walked around and asked the dozen or so people, "Do you all want to go to Nalanda Temple to attend the Dharma assembly?"
think! A loud voice came from the mouths of a dozen people at the same time.
It's a good thing if you want to go, I can take you there. But I have a request. You must listen to me. If you don't listen to me, don't come with me. Qian Jishi said it for this reason. The dozen or so people said in unison, Master, we listen to you and do whatever you say.
Well! Qian Jishi, whose words and attitude were positive, said to the young man again, "Donor, please give these ten or so people to me!" I guarantee that they will have a safe and sound journey to Nalanda Temple.
The young man seemed to be impressed by Qian Jishi's compassionate aura, but in fact, he followed Qian Jishi's protector into the young man's body, and had a brief discussion with his mind or soul, making him believe in Qian Jishi. It's okay for Jishi to go to Nalanda Temple alone; it's okay to take the dozen or so people with him.
So the young man agreed by some strange coincidence. It is said that he will not agree. As a security guard on the road leading to the entrance of Nalanda Temple, he must check. If there is a problem, to put it bluntly, if the person he lets go from here is bitten by a Tibetan mastiff on the mountain road, or even If he was bitten to death, he would not only have to bear responsibility, but he would also be in danger of being fired and lose his job.
But now that he has agreed, he has been feeling uneasy. But until he got off work in the evening, there was no bad news, and he felt calm and relieved.
So how did Qian Jishi lead a dozen or so people on a mountain road to Nalanda Temple without any danger?
At that time, about ten people were very excited and walked towards Qian Jishi. Qian Jishi said, you should follow me and follow my instructions.
OK! Master. Seven or eight of the ten or so people answered in unison, with only a few nodding or saying yes.
Qian Jishi led everyone towards the Nalanda Temple on Wulong Mountain. Along the way, the breeze was blowing on our faces and we could smell the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, which was particularly pleasant. Qian Jishi and his party were not tempted by the scenery outside, but walked steadily along the winding mountain road.
Qian Jishi not only chanted the Buddha's name, but also turned the chanting machine to the highest volume. This enhanced the peaceful aura of the ancient Buddhist temple in the entire Wulong Mountain.
Because Qian Jishi, the leader of the group, was chanting Buddha's name, and the dozen or so people following him also chanted Buddha's name, the group looked solemn and sacred, forming a scenery on the path of practice.
Qian Jishi led everyone to the halfway point of Wulong Mountain. Suddenly someone screamed, Master, I'm afraid...
What are you afraid of? When Qian Jishi asked, he understood before the scared person answered. He saw a group of Tibetan mastiffs, seven or eight of them, all with fluffy and plump bodies. Some even had their tails raised, tall and straight. Rushing towards them.
Seeing this situation, he couldn't help but say that after reaching a certain level in practice or chanting Buddha's name, Qian Jishi was a little panicked, but he immediately calmed down and said to the dozen or so people following him, "You guys go to the front." , I'll break it off.
At this time, many people looked at Qian Jishi and said, Master, how can I do this? If a Tibetan Mastiff bites you, what will happen?
You don’t care, the Tibetan Mastiff won’t bite me. In fact, this was a lie made by Qian Jishi, mainly to stabilize everyone's emotions. He thought to himself: Several Tibetan mastiffs were chasing him and were about to pounce on him. Then let nature take its course! The worst possible thing is to let yourself be eaten by the Tibetan Mastiff, but the dozen or so people must not be harmed because of this; you can make sacrifices yourself, and you must keep everyone safe and sound. A few Tibetan mastiffs just want to eat meat! My human body contains at least a hundred kilograms of flesh, enough for you to eat!
Qian Jishi took this into account and saw a dozen or so people running to the front in panic. Some hid in the trees on the roadside in front; some even climbed up the trees for safety. In short, everyone was trying to escape. No matter what happens.
Qian Jishi did not fight with the Tibetan mastiffs that had gradually surrounded him. Instead, he sat on the ground with his eyes slightly closed and chanted loudly one sentence after another, and the chanting machine that was turned on was also chanting. He knew he couldn't escape, so he planned to let a few Tibetan mastiffs tear his body into pieces and eat it. It should be regarded as a donation to the animals!
After chanting the Buddha's name for about a few minutes, Qian Jishi opened his eyes slightly and saw a group of Tibetan mastiffs surrounding him, staring at him with green and fierce eyes. However, for some reason, they did not pounce on him and bite him. They just squatted down. After a while, they all left one after another. Some Tibetan Mastiffs' tails that were originally upright have fallen down again, showing a waning look.
Why did this bloodthirsty blood-eating animal suddenly become so unusually docile? Qian Jishi didn't think much about it. He was extremely grateful to Amitabha in his heart. He believed that Amitabha saved his life because he kept reciting the Buddha's name.
This understanding is also correct, but he has never known, of course, he may not know, how Amitabha saved him. But he came to the conclusion that he survived because he sincerely recited the Buddha's name.
There is a verse in praise of the Buddha: Amitabha Buddha's body is golden and his appearance is unparalleled in brightness. The white hair gently turns the five eyebrows, the cyanotic eyes clarify the four seas, countless millions of Buddhas are transformed into the light, and the number of Bodhisattvas transformed is also boundless.
Isn’t there a saying in this that “countless billions of Buddhas are transformed into light”? When Qian Jishi encountered a Tibetan mastiff chasing after him, he chanted the Buddha's name more and more. Every time he chanted a Buddha's name, an incarnation Buddha came out. Appears in the animal god.
The person who is in charge of the animal god is in charge of the animals. Are Tibetan Mastiffs animals? right! It is also under the control of the Animal God.
At this time, the Animal God Si shouted loudly in animal language that Tibetan Mastiffs can understand: How dare you attack the monks who are promoting Dharma and benefiting people, go back!
The few Tibetan Mastiffs that had rushed ahead were about to catch Qian Jishi, but they suddenly stopped when they heard the scolding voice of the Animal God. One of the Tibetan Mastiffs grunted in animal language and said to the Animal God, "Great God, I'm sorry, we don't know Mount Tai, and we didn't know that this man is a monk who promotes Dharma and benefits people."
The Beast God shouted: You are all blind. A monk wears a monk's robe, which is obviously different from a layman. Don't you know?
