At this time, all the lay people applauded thunderously. Then, Qian Jishi clasped his hands, led the lay people to face a statue of Buddha and Bodhisattva in the Buddhist hall, and recited the "Hui Xiangwen" loudly: all the merits of the life-saving work done by Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva on Christmas Day are dedicated to the West. In the Land of Ultimate Bliss, Amitabha Buddha, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva; the Eight Devas and Dragons; all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions and three times throughout the space and the Dharma Realm, at the same time dedicate their sacrifices to the fallen soldiers from all directions in the present and ancient times, the sick and suffering, the wrongful killings, and the unborn babies. The spirit reaches all living beings in the underworld of the Saha world; and dedicates it to the four categories of living beings that moisten the embryo and egg, as well as the mountains, rivers and the earth; flowers, trees, melons, fruits, seedlings, crops and other plants; it also dedicates it to parents, six relatives, brothers and sisters, Enemies, creditors, and descendants of our descendants, please pray to the Buddha to bless the descendants of our descendants, be determined to do good, recite the Buddha's name, and seek rebirth in the Pure Land.

I sincerely invite the Three Saints of the West to stay in this world forever, bless all living beings to eliminate disasters and avoid disasters, and pray for rebirth in the Pure Land by reciting the Buddha's name.

Qian Jishi also led the lay people to say Namo Amitabha Buddha three times!

After the release of animals, many lay people often came to Hualing Temple to burn incense and worship Buddha.

One morning in the early summer of this year, Hu Juan, who had "attacked" Qian Jishi by releasing animals last time, took a bag of fruit and did not put it on the altar table in the Buddhist hall. Instead, she gave it directly to Qian Jishi, saying that she wanted to thank Master.

Qian Jishi took the bag of fruit and placed it on the altar table in the Buddhist hall. He led Hujuan to worship the Buddha together. Then he walked out of the Buddhist hall and asked Hujuan, why are you so polite to me today? Hu Juan said that in the spring of this year, I, Master, and other lay people released wild animals on the Christmas Day of Guanyin Bodhisattva, which played a big role.

Qian Jishi smiled and listened to her quietly, Master, do you know? My mother, who suffered from brain cancer, had another CT scan at the end of April. The results showed that the brain tumor on the right side of her head not only did not grow again, but actually shrank a part. Currently, my mother's condition is stable, but her appetite is much smaller. But the return to this state has been beyond our family's expectations. I think this is the effect of the merit dedicating from the life release to my mother receiving the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Qian Jishi nodded, clasped his palms and recited the names of Amitabha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, saying that on behalf of Hu Juan and her mother suffering from brain cancer, I pray for the blessings of the Buddha and Bodhisattva so that the old man can recover as soon as possible.

After Hu Juan bowed to Qian Jishi, she asked her mother why her appetite had decreased. Was it because she was in a bad mood?

Qian Jishi explained that everyone has a "luyong", that is, how much food you should eat in this life is destined. Because of the meritorious deeds of releasing a large number of animals, the patient's original lifespan was extended. Subsequently, the original "remuneration" was also spread over a longer period of time. As a result, the amount of food consumed at each meal was automatically reduced. This is the case with your mother.

Hu Juan combed her black hair around her temples and said a few words: "That's great!" Qian Jishi said again, in fact, what does it matter if you eat less? On the contrary, it can reduce the burden on various organs. Saving your life is better than anything else!

Affected by this good influence, Hujuan's whole family began to come into contact with Buddhism. When the neighbors heard about it, they also looked at Buddhism with admiration. Although most of them didn't believe it, Buddhism smelled bad. After all, they had already smelled it. Once you plant the seeds of Bodhi, they will one day take root and sprout.

Time makes people grow old. Qian Jishi didn't realize that he was 89 years old, but he didn't look old. There are no age spots on his face, only dark wrinkles like new buds on an old tree, highlighting his vitality. This is the sacred mark that the old monk has spent his life doing good deeds and promoting Dharma and benefiting people.

Suddenly one day, Qian Jishi was invited to attend a Dharma ceremony in Nalanda Temple 40 kilometers away in advance. Qian Jishi was particularly punctual. He left the mountain at 5 p.m. and took a temporary long-distance bus to Qingfeng Town at the foot of the mountain. He was expected to arrive at about 6 o'clock.

Qian Jishi silently recited the Buddha's name wherever he went. This was not enough. He also carried a small and compact reciting machine with a battery in his arms.

When he arrived in the town, he also bought a pair of new AA batteries in the supermarket. He took out the pair of old batteries with low power from the Buddhist chanting machine. Instead of throwing them away, he put them into the monk's clothes he was wearing. In the pocket of the robe.

The reason why he didn't throw it away was because he felt that he had not used it to its full potential. Although the old battery is old, it is still old but not useless. The battery inside is low and can be used. It is especially suitable for sleeping at night by placing a Buddhist chanting machine equipped with old electrical appliances next to the pillow. Even if the volume is turned to the maximum, the sound is not loud. This is just suitable for him to slowly fall asleep amidst the hypnotic sound of the Buddha's chant and have a good dream. .

Traveling is different, especially long-distance buses with many passengers and noisy sounds. In addition, long-distance buses have a rumbling, almost noisy mechanical sound that cannot be quieted down while driving. If you chant the Buddha's name for a long time, your mouth and tongue will become dry. , at this time, it is best to use a chanting machine to chant the name of the Buddha.

However, if you put an old battery in the chanting machine and turn the sound to the maximum, you won't hear any sound. In that case, the chanting machine that is turned on will be useless.

So when I went out this afternoon, Qian Jishi replaced the Buddhist chanting machine with a new pair of batteries. He turned it on and listened for a while, turning it up to a high volume. The sound was so loud that it was quite intimidating. But when he turned it down, when there was no one around, the sound was still loud and very clear. But when you get on a long-distance bus that is full of passengers, it doesn't work. You have to turn up the volume or adjust it to a medium tone to hear it.

When Qian Jishi got on the bus, he did not turn on the chanting machine for the time being. He just chanted the Buddha's name silently with his own mouth. If he planned to chant in the car for a long time, he would turn on the chanting machine and set it at mid-range or high pitch, listen to the Buddha's chanting devoutly, and also let the passengers sitting on the left and right Listen to it and let them, as a part of all sentient beings, get a little bit of auspicious Buddha energy.

Qian Jishi, who was sitting on the south seat of the car, had been silently chanting Buddha's name. After chanting for a while, it got dark and lights flashed in the car. The car was traveling at an even speed over a vast fertile field. Not long after driving, the car slowed down significantly. Some passengers commented that we had entered a steep mountain road and could not drive faster. Passengers think this is good, after all, safety comes first!

But after driving for a while, the car seemed to be bumping. Passengers sitting in the car felt uneasy, and some passengers said: "It's like this when driving on a winding mountain road, so don't be afraid."

While Qian Jishi was reciting the Buddha's name, he also felt something was wrong. He immediately took out the Buddhist chanting machine from his monk's robe and turned the button, and the Buddha's name of "Amitabha" sounded peacefully. He said: Now turn on the chanting machine and chant the Buddha's name, which is to respectfully ask Amitabha to use the power of Buddha to bless us in the car and have a safe journey!

No one in the car made a sound, which proved that the passengers basically agreed. Qian Jishi thought it would be best if the driver recognized it. So he picked up the Buddhist chanting machine and turned it on to high volume. He temporarily got off his seat and approached the driver's cab. Then he said to the driver, a middle-aged man with a capable appearance, who was sitting in the driver's seat: Comrade driver, I will turn on the Buddhist chanting machine that is chanting Buddha's name. Leave it here with you! Amitabha will protect you and drive safely.

No, just turn off the chanting machine! I don't believe it, and I find it too noisy. The driver answered this while driving.

Seeing this, Qian Jishi didn't want to say more, and he was afraid of distracting the driver. He just said "Okay" and did not turn off the chanting machine completely. He just turned down the volume so that he could hear it, and others generally couldn't.

At this time, Qian Jishi also heard the driver muttering: Monk, don't worry, it's absolutely safe. I have been driving for 24 years. I often drive on steep mountain roads like this. I can't remember how many times I have run on them, and they are all smooth and smooth. It's safe, so you can ride with confidence!

But Qian Jishi still felt uneasy. He returned to his seat and sat in the car for about 10 minutes. He felt that the car was even more bumpy than at the beginning. Since the driver did not know the benefits of chanting the Buddha's name or listening to the chanting machine and chanting the Buddha's name, the car was driving. , was not suitable for persuasion, so he gave up the idea of persuasion, and just sat on the car seat while listening to the chanting machine tuned to a low tone and reciting the Buddha's name, and he was also reciting silently in his mouth. Holding on to a single Buddha's name, he gradually fell into trance.

The next day on a mountain ridge, Qian Jishi was woken up with his eyes slightly closed as if he were meditating. There was a chair from a long-distance bus under his buttocks. He thought he was still in the car, but when he opened his eyes, he realized something was wrong. He was on a deserted mountain ridge, and there were several strange men in front of him. Their faces were serious, as if they had encountered something unhappy.

Qian Jishi suddenly asked a tall strange man who woke him up, "Hey, what's going on?" Didn’t I take a long-distance bus to Landa Temple? Why am I not in the car but on the mountain?

The tall man said, "Monk, you are blessed!" Bodhisattva protects you! How many lifetimes of virtue have you accumulated?

Qian Jishi left his chair and asked, "How do you say this?"

The tall man said, don’t you know? There was a tragic car accident last night. The bus you were riding in overturned halfway up the mountain and fell into a canyon dozens of meters deep. All 44 people on the bus, including the driver, were killed. Except for you who was still alive, the other 43 people were killed. .
