A miracle happened that day. All the lay people came to the Panlong River and listened to Qian Jishi singing the "Ritual of Release of Life". They went out to release animals as usual, and then sang the "Song of Release of Life" loudly:
Let's go
Don't look back
Are you still reluctant to let go after being together for so long?
Stop and go several times to look back
Why do you have tears in your eyes too?
Om mani padme hum lotus blossoms
Om Mani Padme Hum Come home quickly
Om mani padme hum singing and dancing
Om mani padme hum happy he
Don't forget what I said to you
Let me recite Amitabha for you again
…………
At this time, an auspicious sign appeared in the sky above the Longpan River. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva was sitting in lotus position on the lotus seat. The statue was solemn and its body was shining with golden light, which was extremely bright. All the lay people immediately paid homage and then carefully carried buckets of mullet, turtles and other living animals from the truck parked on the roadside to the pier by the river for release.
The group of idlers hiding in the woods by the Panlong River saw the golden light of Guanyin Bodhisattva's holy body in mid-air, and they believed in the greatness of life release from the bottom of their hearts.
Monk Qian led the residents to the Panlong River to release the animals, and the moved Guanshiyin Bodhisattva suddenly appeared. Such a rare holy land made the rest of the people give up their initial thoughts: waiting for the release of the people After the layman left, he went down to the river to catch the mullets, turtles and other living animals they had released in large quantities.
Now they no longer dare, some silently repent in their hearts; some even take repentant actions, tearing up the nets they brought to the water for fishing, throwing them away, or lighting them with lighters and burning them...
Suddenly, the Coiling Dragon in the Panlong River jumped up and kowtowed to Guanyin Bodhisattva in mid-air. The laymen chanted the holy names of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and Amitabha Buddha at the top of their lungs. The sounds echoed over the Panlong River one after another.
The mullets, turtles and other living animals that had just been released in the Panlong River also floated on the water for a long time and refused to sink into the water. They lined up in an orderly manner and raised their heads. Their small mouths opened and closed, clearly cooperating with the lay people on the river bank. Help recite the name of Buddha and Bodhisattva.
After a while, Qian Jishi led the lay people into Damo Mountain, a deserted place with lush forests and bamboos and cliffs everywhere, and released terrestrial wild animals such as king snakes, pheasants, badger pigs and so on.
Many lay people have participated in the release of wild animals before, mostly releasing common carps, loaches, eels and other aquatic species. However, they have never released such ferocious-looking king snakes, bright-feathered pheasants and ferocious roaring badgers and pigs. Watching the lives of the animals They ran away and jumped for joy, they were all very happy.
After the release, when we came down from Damo Mountain, it was completely dark. When their return convoy drove out of another mountain pass, Qian Jishi, a clairvoyant, accidentally glanced and saw many people kowtowing to them outside the car window. The number of people was too large to be counted. They knelt down in large groups. The scene was very spectacular!
The heights of these beings vary, with most being around 70 centimeters, about as tall as a four or five-year-old child. Their faces cannot be seen clearly, only their bodies can be seen. This large group of living beings is a few meters away. Just in front of the left side of the car they are riding in, stands a god, about 3 meters tall, looking majestic and majestic. He is the mountain god of this mountain and is leading these living beings. Thank you to the lay people who came to release animals!
After the obeisance was completed, all the living beings were arranged on both sides of the motorcade in an orderly manner to watch the lay people led by Qian Jishi come out of the mountain.
At this time, Guanyin Bodhisattva once again appeared in the sky above the motorcade, sitting in lotus position with a majestic appearance. A circle of colorful halos appeared in the night sky behind him, emitting a very dazzling seven-color light.
The release vehicle and all sentient beings seeing off were shrouded in Buddha's light. The whole scene was extremely solemn and solemn, lasting for about a minute before slowly disappearing.
After that, the convoy left the mountainous area and headed for the road towards the county seat. Qian Jishi was sitting on the right side of the back seat of the pickup truck, just behind a layman. After traveling for more than ten minutes, Qian Jishi suddenly clasped his hands and sang Nian Nan very happily. There is no Veda Bodhisattva. He then said he saw Skanda Bodhisattva appearing in the night sky about one meter away behind the car.
The feet of Skanda Bodhisattva are walking in the air, about one meter away from the top of the moving vehicle on the ground. His waist is like a millstone, he holds a gold mace, and his body emits a milky white light. He has been walking in the air following the release team.
This was the first time in his life that Qian Jishi saw the appearance of Wei Tuo Bodhisattva. It was very clear and solemn, which made him admire him immediately. He wished he could get out of the car and pay homage respectfully! Along the way, Wei Tuo Bodhisattva disappeared and appeared, and followed the release team until it returned safely to the foothills of Hualing Temple.
In the evening, after all the lay people gathered at Hualing Temple for a vegetarian supper, Qian Jishi lectured on the benefits of releasing animals in the lecture hall. A female lay practitioner named Hu Juan raised an objection and said, Master, there is a reason why I participated in the life release this time. My mother was found to have two tumors on the right side of her head in the hospital. After Gamma Knife treatment and interventional treatment, one of them was One disappeared, but the other grew rapidly. During last New Year's Day, the condition worsened and hemiplegia appeared on one side of the body. The doctor said the situation was critical.
I want to dedicate the merit of releasing animals to my mother, hoping that her condition will improve. If it weren't for this reason, I wouldn't have participated in the release. I don't understand why you often mobilize lay people to release lives, because releasing lives is a "conditioned method", and "all conditioned methods are like dreams and bubbles", which is not final, has a share in the blessings of humans and heaven, and has nothing to do with liberation and rebirth.
I thought, why are lay people running around? It is better to practice the Dharma conscientiously at home. After becoming a Buddha, you will naturally be able to easily save countless sentient beings!
Qian Jishi smiled kindly, flicked his monk's robe and said slowly, "Your words make sense at first glance, but after careful analysis, they are mostly taken out of context, and their words are absurd!"
Hu Juan was a little dissatisfied and asked, "How can you see it?"
Don't rush to ask questions, just listen to me slowly. Qian Jishi saw the lay people listening in complete silence and took the opportunity to explain one by one -
First of all, from the perspective of propagating the Dharma and benefiting living beings, the Dharma is in decline at this time, the Dharma is weak and the demons are strong, and all living beings are addicted to pleasures and greedy. They only seek immediate benefits, and few people think about the big things behind them. However, it is more difficult than ever before to promote Buddhism and bring all sentient beings into the knowledge of Buddhism. Fortunately, there is still a way to release lives, and it is still very popular in the Dharma Ending Period.
As the saying goes, "First lead with desires, and then let people enter the Buddha's wisdom." The method of releasing animals can quickly eliminate karma and have huge merits. Therefore, it can often play a mysterious and immediate role in curing diseases, eliminating disasters, and praying for blessings and fulfillment of wishes. Effect.
For this reason, by vigorously promoting the merits of releasing lives, we urge people to widely practice abstinence from killing and releasing lives, so that they can first obtain rapid and significant practical benefits and arouse joy in the Dharma, and then proceed step by step, gradually deepening, and when the opportunity is ripe, they will naturally be able to practice liberation.
Is there any more skillful and convenient way to attract sentient beings during the Dharma Ending Period? The poor monk was released for several years, and there are countless examples of his personal experience! And this is the most important reason why I have worked tirelessly all year round to promote the practice of quitting killing and releasing animals.
Secondly, from the perspective of personal practice. The Buddha once taught: "Great compassion is the seed of all dharma." Only by developing great compassion and wholeheartedly benefiting all living beings can we let go of selfish thoughts and cut off self-grasping. When the great compassion expands to the extreme, the void will be shattered, all attachment to Dharma will be gone, and one will realize the emptiness of prajna. Leaving the heart of great compassion and talking about emptiness is really just asking for fish from a tree and talking about a dream. Releasing lives and saving lives is the greatest expression of compassion and the best way to cultivate compassion. During the process of releasing lives, if we are not attached to the act of releasing lives, nor to the self of releasing lives, nor to the life of the beings being released, isn’t this the fact that the current three-wheeled body is empty?
After becoming a Buddha, although emptiness has settled, the Buddha-nature is full of wonderful functions. Therefore, from the perspective of appearance, the only "business" must be to incarnate in countless worlds and randomly save countless sentient beings. Instead of waiting until then, it is better to start from Get started now.
In fact, there are many ways to be reborn in bliss. On the basis of "generating bodhicitta", in addition to the most direct belief and aspiration to recite the Buddha's name, you can also be reborn by dedicating the merits of good deeds such as observing the precepts, giving charity, and working diligently.
Among all the good dharma, life release is the most meritorious method that combines all three. It can not only accumulate resources and provide supporting conditions for practicing other dharma, but also can directly use this merit to return to the Pure Land and achieve liberation in the afterlife. Of course, if you can let go of all the karma and recite the Buddha's name with all your heart, congratulations, you will undoubtedly be reborn in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
If your madness has not stopped and you are still bound by all kinds of worldly things, you might as well let go according to the circumstances, cultivate your compassion, hold on to the name, and diligently recite the Buddha's name. The two will form a combined force. On the day of your death, you will surely be able to feel the three thoughts of the West. The saint appeared to guide him, and all the sentient beings he had rescued during his lifetime came to help him. He climbed directly to the lotus state, and the flowers bloomed to see the Buddha!
I, the Buddha, am so compassionate that I have left such a simple, easy-to-implement, and highly effective virtuous method to all sentient beings in the Dharma-ending world. Hujuan, tell me, if we don’t actively participate in releasing animals to promote Dharma and benefit living beings, what are we waiting for?
At this point, Qian Jishi closed his eyes slightly and recited Master Hanshan's life-releasing merits verse aloud——
Since people love their longevity, things love their lives;
Release lives in harmony with the heart of heaven, release lives in compliance with Buddha's orders;
Freeing animals to avoid three disasters, releasing animals to avoid nine horizontal lines;
Those who release animals will have a long life, and their officials and officials will be prosperous;
Let the descendants prosper, let the family celebrate;
Release lives without worries, release lives from minor illnesses;
Release lives to resolve grievances, release lives to purify sins;
Release Guanyin’s kindness, release Samantabhadra’s practice;
The results of releasing and killing animals are like mirrors;
Release lives and recite the Buddha's name, practice thousands of times, and tens of thousands of people will witness it.
Thank you Master, your words made me enlightened and relieved my knot in my mind. Hu Juan looked ashamed and bowed to Qian Jishi as she spoke.
Master said it well. All the laymen also praised in unison and bowed to Qian Jishi.
Don't praise me. As a Buddhist monk, I should organize everyone to buy things and release their lives. I am just the initiator of this small land. Even if I have a little merit, it is not worth mentioning. How can I dare to receive praise? You should be grateful to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who are compassionate and protective of all living beings.
When Qian Jishi said this, he changed the topic again. Did you know? Our Eastern Kingdom has established the first official release organization in recent years. This is undoubtedly an initiative to promote the Dharma and benefit living beings, boost the positive energy in the world, and bring great hope to save all living beings in the Dharma Ending Period. I want to give this a thumbs up!
