The monk said that leather shoes are made of animal skins. Wearing them will not only hinder the elimination of karma, but also add new karma. Besides, all animals are the sambhogakaya of karma, so if you wear leather shoes made of animal skins, it will appear unmerciful. And the Buddhist pure land is a place where compassion eliminates karma. Lay people who enter the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha are obviously not allowed to wear leather shoes.
Pei Minsheng kept nodding, thinking about what the monk had said, and felt that it made sense: leather shoes are made of animal skins, and skins are obtained from killing animals. Things obtained from killing animals are obviously cruel and unmerciful things.

Master Jingxin said, you have a cause-and-effect disease. You need to meditate and let others know the cause of the disease. From now on, if you no longer create the cause of illness, you will no longer suffer from illness.
When Pei Minsheng saw that Master Jingxin had said this, he sat cross-legged on the stone pier on the left with his eyes slightly closed. He also followed suit and meditated on the stone pier on the right.
Slowly, the sounds of birds in the forest, the sound of streams and the ringing of bells in the temple were no longer heard. He fell into trance like Master Jingxin. I vaguely felt that Master Jingxin led me to a gloomy place, like a prison. The prisoners inside were covered in ulcers and pus, curled up in a ball, scratching and twitching.
Pei Minsheng stood at the door and asked where this place was. Master Jingxin said this was hell.
Pei Minsheng asked where those prisoners were caught from. Master Jingxin said that these prisoners were the souls of sinners who had taken drugs during their lives, or died of vicious diseases after taking poisons. They were captured and imprisoned here to suffer punishment.
At this time, I saw two ferocious-looking Yinzai, each holding a weapon like a snake spear with a length of two feet. There was a shiny barb at the top. They hooked a sinful soul covered in charcoal black and dragged him out. He was released from prison. Door. There is a deep pit in the distance about ten feet. There is a stone slab standing beside the pit, with two large black characters written on it: 迿 basin.
The sinful soul was dragged here and seemed to understand something, screaming at the top of its lungs. Yin Chai didn't care about that, he pushed the sinful soul's body towards the basin and fell to the bottom of the basin, where the giant scorpions and pythons below were vying to eat.
When Pei Minsheng saw this miserable situation, he immediately asked Master Jingxin, why are the underworld agents so cruel and inhumane? The sinful soul was so sick that he was covered in black carbon and in great pain. Instead of saving him, he was pushed into a basin and fed to giant scorpions and pythons. Master Jingxin put his palms together and recited Amitabha. A bright light was like a pair of giant hands lifting the sinful soul out of the basin and placing it before his eyes. When Yin Chai saw the monk using the power of Buddha to save the guilty soul, he saluted him respectfully, and then said to the guilty soul, this mage is reciting Buddha's name for you to eliminate your sins and reduce your faults. Whatever he asks you, you should say it. You must not hide your presence. Sins committed during life.
The sinful soul immediately knelt down and kowtowed in front of Master Jingxin, tears falling like rain, and murmured, "Thank you Master for your compassionate rescue. When I was alive, I was addicted to drugs, quit and committed crimes frequently, could not control myself, and finally went crazy." He sold his sons and daughters to raise money for drugs, went bankrupt, and finally died of ulcers all over his body. After my death, Bai Wuchang was directly arrested and imprisoned in hell. I really deserved death. I advise people in the world not to take drugs like me in life, which harms myself and others.
Pei Minsheng was frightened when he heard this. He felt that he was addicted to eating the poppy powder prepared by Hua Dafu every day. After death, he might be imprisoned in hell like this sinful soul, and be hooked out by evil spirits with a long-handled hook and pushed into the basin. Eat for giant scorpions and pythons. At this time, Master Jingxin asked the sinner to stand up and slowly tell him how he fell into the trap of taking drugs.
The guilty soul said, I also knew that taking drugs was not good, but then a bad friend tricked me and pretended to help me, but actually harmed me. He put a small amount of poppy powder in my food. After I ate it, it tasted quite good. Later, I became more and more fond of eating the meals he cooked, so he gradually added more poppy powder to my meals. I became addicted to it and couldn't live without it. Later I learned that poppy powder was a drug, but I was already addicted to it, and then I took drugs directly to stop the addiction...
When the sinful soul said this, Yin Qi didn't let him continue, saying that today you have been mercifully rescued by the mage, so that you will not be sent to eat giant scorpions and pythons, and now you will be sent back to hell to be imprisoned.
