The first volume is finally finished. Thank you all very much for your continued support.
I have to say that writing a book part-time is a very labor-intensive task. Recently, because of my busy work schedule, I often type in the middle of the night. I feel exhausted and my hair has fallen out a lot.
However, in recent times, subscription performance has also been rising steadily. Pudding's mood can be said to be both tired and happy.
The first volume of this book adopts the writing method of "double lines of light and dark". Two months before the book started, Pudding prepared a relatively detailed outline.
On the one hand, when I read books, I really like the suspenseful and reversal of the plot, the emotional explosion after the long foreshadowing, and the shocking feeling when the mystery is revealed in the grand layout;
But on the other hand, there are now a large number of online articles, and the pace is getting faster and faster. For new authors who have no reader base, if there are no attractive highlights and exciting points at the beginning, they will most likely be killed, or even even It’s hard to sign a contract.
In order to find a balance between personal preference and subscription performance, Pudding made a small attempt with the help of this volume.
The "bright line" of this volume is the protagonist's process of slaying demons and becoming stronger, in which "training", "missions", "harvest" and "daily life" are alternately carried out, forming a relaxed and refreshing rhythm.
The "hidden thread" in this volume is naturally the layout and plan secretly carried out by Kongxuan Sanren in order to be promoted to the Ghost King.
The "explicit lines" and "hidden lines" advance in parallel as the story develops.
During this period, "hidden threads" quietly surfaced many times, forming foreshadowing.
For example, the "rat play" in Chapter 64, the "books gnawed by rats and moths" mentioned in Chapter 71, the hints about the identity and strength of the hunchbacked old man in Chapter 135, For example, the discussion of "name" and cause and effect in Chapter 155...
Several major events in this volume - the Lu family's haunted house, the ruins of Laoshan Mountain, and the Nine Infants Disaster - are also closely related to the "hidden thread".
Finally, in the last few chapters of this volume, the "dark thread" completely comes to light, colliding fiercely with the bright thread, and the suspense is revealed, forming a climax.
Pudding is quite satisfied with the first volume, and has basically written out the original plot idea. Compared with when it was launched, the average order has almost doubled.
Of course there are many shortcomings.
First, I am not very good at writing big scenes of battles and disasters - Pudding, as a new author, has limited writing skills. It was very difficult to write the chapter about the Nine Infant Snake Demon, and I did not write the kind of despair that destroyed the world as I wanted. (Maybe it was also because Pudding was soft-hearted and reluctant to use the knife). In the end, he could only delete a planned battle plot and enter the confrontation stage with Kong Xuan Sanren in advance. In this regard, I will need to read more books by great masters and learn more in the future.
Second, the rhythm of the novel is not yet perfectly mastered. When a big event ends, the follow-up connection is not handled well.
For example, after the "Lu Family Haunted House" case, the protagonist came into contact with high-level things, and the emotional tone of the story also changed to a certain extent. Returning to Yishui County at this time, it is difficult to return to the relaxed and refreshing rhythm of alternating "tasks" and "daily life". It felt wrong when I wrote it, and I lost some of it when I read it. In the end, two small cases were deleted to speed up the progress of the plot and regain the feeling.
Third, QAQ is not very good at pudding math. In order to make the background of the story more realistic, QAQ checked a lot of salary and price data from the Ming Dynasty. In the process of learning from it, it made itself faint...so it subsequently blurred many numbers. .
We should try to avoid these problems in the future and strive to write better.
The first volume is called "Don't use the hidden dragon", which comes from the "Book of Changes". It is the first line of the Qian hexagram, which means "the hidden dragon will not use its talents for the time being". It is a metaphor for things in the beginning of development. Although the momentum is good, But it is relatively weak, so you should be careful and not act rashly.
It matches the protagonist's situation, mood and "stability-seeking" behavior in the first volume.
In fact, after finishing the first volume, Pudding really wanted to take two days off to sort out the follow-up details. Unfortunately, I ran out of leave requests this month due to illness and overtime work (crying), so I had to seize the time to continue writing.
Will update normally tonight, please give me a monthly ticket by the way! (According to the previous commitment, an additional chapter will be added for every 400 monthly tickets this month, and the additional chapters will be unified in October)
Please stay tuned for the next volume "Seeing the Dragon in the Field"! Read thousands of volumes
