The zodiac originally completely coincided with the twelve constellations. However, due to the precession of equinox, it was redefined, resulting in a slight deviation between the twelve signs and the twelve constellations. This is a tropic ecliptic, a typical feature of ancient Greek astronomy.

The zodiac was passed from ancient Greece to ancient India, and was repositioned according to Indian astronomy to accurately match the positions of the stars. This is called the sidereal ecliptic. The zodiac has spread to this point, and there has been a huge deviation from the twelve constellations.

Then, the Indian version of the zodiac was introduced to China along with Buddhism.

Let’s talk about China’s twelve stars, which rely on Jupiter or Beidou for positioning (two different versions).

But no matter which way you say it, the twelve stars are divided into more than 365 degrees, and each degree represents a day.

The zodiac from foreign countries is divided into 360 degrees, and each sign is divided into an average of 30 degrees.

The twelve zodiac signs from foreign countries were confused with the Chinese twelve constellations. This was an error made by the Western missionaries when the Chongzhen Dynasty compiled the calendar in the late Ming Dynasty. Pseudo-historical commentators used this to make a fuss, saying that the Zodiac was exported to domestic sales.
