"What, you killed your own master?"
I couldn't help but be stunned, quickly stood up, and looked at Wu Xin warily.
He even killed his own master. Unless he was a very evil person, he would never be able to do such a thing!
Wu Xin, like his name, didn't seem to take my reaction to heart and continued to talk about his own experiences.
"I don't know what happened. A lot of things happened that day. I just felt like I was in confusion. When I woke up, I found that I was holding a knife and had pierced the master's chest. .”
"In order to atone for my sins, I lived in seclusion in the mountains and recited Buddhist scriptures every day, hoping that the Buddha could take me out of the sea of suffering..."
From what Wu Xin said, it seemed like it was an accident that he killed his master. Judging from his words and deeds, although this man was quite weird, he didn't look like a bad person.
So far, at least, he has let me share the wild boar and provided me with shelter without showing any hostility.
"Master, although I don't know what happened back then, I believe it must have happened for a reason. You don't have to blame yourself too much. Your master will definitely forgive you."
I tried to comfort Wu Xin, hoping to get more information out of him.
"Well, times have changed, so I won't say more. I still want to recite Buddhist scriptures. Donor, if you are sleepy, just go to sleep."
Wuxin didn't want to continue chatting with me in depth. After saying a few words, he stood up and went to the main hall.
After a while, the sounds of banging wooden fish and chanting Buddhist scriptures came from outside.
It seems that Wuxin is really an ascetic. He stayed up late at night and ran outside to chant sutras. Even I admire his belief.
Since I can't get much information out now, and I can't pester him to ask questions, I plan to stay one night again and then continue looking for Master Yinguang tomorrow morning.
So I sat cross-legged, listening to the sound of wooden fish outside, and started to perform the exercises.
I don't know how long it took, but I opened my eyes and found that the charcoal fire had been extinguished, the cave was dark, it was quiet outside, and the sound of chanting had disappeared.
Did Wu Xin also go to bed?
I scanned the cave and found no trace of Wu Xin, so I got up from the stone bed and walked into the main hall.
There was no trace of Wu Xin in the main hall. On the table in the middle, the sandalwood had burned out, and there was only an oil lamp, which was still shining with a weak light, vaguely bringing some light to the main hall.
"Grandmaster?"
I glanced around and found that the front door was closed and the house was empty, and I suddenly felt puzzled.
Where did this monk go in the middle of the night?
You know, this temple is built on a cliff. When you open the door, apart from the stone steps, there are bottomless cliffs on both sides.
Running outside in the middle of the night is not a wise choice.
After glancing around in the main hall, I raised my head and set my sights on the Buddha statue.
It doesn't matter if you don't look at it. When I looked at it, I was shocked and trembled all over!
I saw this Buddha statue. Half of it was a kind and smiling face, and the other half was a ferocious Shura. Under the dim light, it made people's scalp numb just looking at it!
Double-faced Buddha!
I was shocked. I never expected that I would find a double-faced Buddha here.
Could it be that this monk Wu Xin is also a member of the Southern Xinjiang Wizard Group?
However, when I first came in, there was nothing unusual about this Buddha statue. Why has it turned into a double-faced Buddha now?
Thinking of this, I quickly approached and walked around the double-faced Buddha. Only then did I realize that on the back of the double-faced Buddha was a normal Buddha statue.
In other words, when I was practicing cross-legged exercise in the cave just now, the Buddha statue turned around in a circle, and when I was chanting sutras unintentionally, I was facing one side of the double-faced Buddha!
It seems that this Wuxin monk has more secrets than I thought!
I couldn't help but be more vigilant and looked around the Buddha statue. Suddenly I saw that there was a gap between the base of the Buddha statue and the ground.
I stretched out my hand and pushed hard, and then I heard a roar. The base was actually movable. The Buddha statue slid gently, and after a while, the floor below was exposed.
I bowed my head and knocked on the floor twice, and heard a thumping sound from below. I was sure that the bottom of the floor was empty!
Insert the sharp end of King Wu's whip into the gap at the edge of the floor, and with a slight pry, the entire floor is lifted, revealing a dark hole below!
Under the entrance of the cave, there is a spiral staircase that winds downwards and extends to a place out of sight.
There must be some secret hidden in this cave, so without hesitation, I got into the cave entrance, covered the floor again, and then walked down the spiral staircase.
I don’t know how long I walked, but finally, my feet stepped on the hard ground. Directly in front of me was a corridor. At the end of the corridor, there was a faint light.
I walked along the corridor, following the direction of the light, and tiptoed.
The corridor became wider and wider, and soon, a wide basement appeared in front of it, and at that moment, the Wuxin monk was facing away from me, kneeling in front of a skeleton!
The skeleton was sitting cross-legged on the ground, wearing a shabby cassock covered with cobwebs. It was unknown how many years it had been dead.
Wuxin, on the other hand, clasped his hands together, knelt on the ground with a pious face, and kept mumbling something.
I quickly stuck myself in a corner of the basement and crouched down to avoid being accidentally discovered. At the same time, I listened carefully to what he was saying.
"Master, after so many years, I have lived in seclusion in the mountains and forests, not caring about worldly affairs, and devoted myself to the Buddha. But why do I still feel so much pain?"
"Yes, I have indeed killed many people, rich and poor, men, women, good and bad... I don't care who they are, I just enjoy the pleasure of killing, but now, I have changed ah!"
"Didn't you once say that if you put down the butcher's knife, you can become a Buddha immediately? But why do I work so hard, but still can't find my own Buddha heart? I am always haunted by those nightmares. Can you tell me why... "
Listening to Wu Xin's words, I gradually understood that this monk Wu Xin was actually a criminal thief who killed countless people!
And this skeleton should be his master, who saved him from the hell of killing back then. But now, he uses his master's skeleton as the object of his confession, telling his own pain.
Unexpectedly, this Wuxin monk turned out to be a big evil person. I was thinking about whether to control him first, but at this time, I suddenly heard a painful groan from a corner of the basement.
I glanced at Wu Xin. He was still immersed in talking to the skeleton and had no reaction at all to the moaning sound.
