Even the gods cannot resist the endless energy and infinite power brought by source energy. Thousands of years ago, in the mountains of Khaz Modan there once stood a titan furnace as huge as the main peak of the mountain range, named Uldaman.
According to the Holy History of the Church, the Titans formed the Iron Dwarves and Mechgnomes from this forge, just like the vrykul, the ancestors of mankind. After the departure of the Titans, these servants were corrupted by the evil ancient gods and suffered the curse of flesh and blood. They gradually lost their steel bodies and became mortal bodies. Therefore, only by firmly believing in the teachings of the Holy Light, serving and contributing property to the church throughout your life, can you obtain salvation and one day regain your God-given body.
Even without the obvious evidence, it is not difficult for anyone with normal mind and knowledge to see how despicable and ridiculous these high-sounding lies are.
Many modern archaeological discoveries have proven that Uldaman is actually a giant source ore refining furnace. It does not have any facilities or functions for shaping life. In addition, the relics discovered tens of thousands of years ago are also proving that many races of intelligent creatures lived in this mountain range long before the arrival of Titan. Their names are unknown, as the Titans completely wiped out the civilization of these natives when they conquered this area.
In order to meet the needs of mining the source ore, the Titans did not kill all the native races, but used order magic to transform the survivors into servants with bodies of steel and stone. In this way, they will no longer suffer from fatigue, hunger and pain, are not afraid of radiation and curses, and will not resist or question. They only need to recharge their batteries regularly and repair them when they are worn out. But at the same time, they also completely lost their original biological consciousness and emotions, as well as the ability to reproduce, and became machines that only knew how to work all day long.
For tens of thousands of years, amid the silent blood and tears of countless servant workers, Uldaman, as one of the three world melting pots, has continuously output huge amounts of source energy to supply the Titans with the immortal power to rule the planet.
Until the War of the Ancients 10,000 years ago, with the offensive of the Burning Legion, it was destroyed together with Uldum, another world forge, and turned into fragmented ruins in the mountains and underground.
After the war, both the Legion and the Titans suffered losses. The Titans, whose vitality was severely damaged, retreated to the north and defended Ulduar, the last world furnace. The Burning Legion, whose leader was killed in the battle, also left Ai Xing. These original Titan servants who lost their masters were at a loss and wandered around in this vast mountain range.
After thousands of years, the order transformation imposed by the Titans gradually failed, and they began to restore the bodies and emotions of the creatures. These creatures have long forgotten the names of their ancestors and have no choice but to call themselves Khaz Modan after this mountain range.
Relying on the Titan source energy technology and equipment that had not been completely lost in their minds, they successively rebuilt several smaller furnaces in this mountain range, and established several tribes around them.
Ironforge is the earliest and largest of them (of course, it is still an extremely reduced version compared to Titan's Forge), built in the heart of a hollow mountain on the northwest side of Dun Morogh. Later, Shadowforge City, Grim Batol, etc. were also built one after another.
At first, the residents of Khaz Modan were very cautious about the source mine, and only used the replica furnaces to maintain basic production and living needs, such as heating and forging simple tools, to cope with the cold weather here all year round.
Because as former slaves of Titan, they know very well that source energy itself contains huge pollution, and its mining and refining process is not only very dangerous to the producers themselves, but also extremely damaging to the natural environment;
This contamination is usually accompanied by radiation, mutation, irreversible curses, genetic and hereditary damage, etc., and appears as a dark green corruption. Seeing this, you may think of the so-called evil energy. In fact, Titan and the Holy Light Church have been blaming the pollution produced by the Source Energy Industry on the enemies who are trying to stop them. They slandered the spellcasting system taught by the Burning Legion to mortals as fel magic that brought disaster, in order to shirk responsibility for polluting the environment and provide an excuse to prohibit mortals from controlling the resistance.
In fact, regardless of the Titan's power of order, the mage's arcane elemental magic, the Holy Light's holy magic, and the Burning Legion's mortal spellcasting system, they are essentially the same thing, various applications of source energy. There is no distinction between good and evil, nor between high and low. As YB once said, "There is no good, no evil, and no holy light, only power."
For a long time, the residents of Khaz Modan have carefully maintained a balance between production and the environment, keeping source energy extraction to a minimum. They live a self-sufficient life relying on the facilities left behind by Titan and the rich natural resources of the land;
——Until the arrival of humans, everything became different.
As the most diligent race in the history of this planet, human life is so short, but the demands are so greedy.
Similar to what happened to the Khaz Modans, most of the human ancestors, the Vrykul, were exterminated in the Titans' massacres and experiments, and a small number were transformed into unconscious steel servants. With the defeat of the Titans, the Vrykul gradually recovered their flesh and blood and became modern humans.
However, it is said that due to the incompleteness of the experiment, humans retained both the will of the creature and the power of the Titan's creation. They have an affinity for magic that is unmatched by other races, and they are not as susceptible to magic addiction as elves, and become heartless people like walking zombies. Many humans only live for more than twenty years to become intermediate or even archmages. This time is not enough time for the elves to take a nap while studying druid magic.
However, human beings' talent for magic comes at the cost of lifespan, and they can only live for a few decades without illness or disaster. There has never been an advanced intelligent creature in Ai Star as short-lived as humans, only one-third of the normal Khaz Modan people and one-tenth of the elves. It can even be thought to some extent that the reason why humans rarely suffer from addiction is because they do not live long enough to develop addiction.
Perhaps due to the short lifespan and strong power, human countries, organizations and individuals have been producing and plundering throughout their entire lives. The resources produced and hoarded astonished the ancient races of the Eastern Continent. Human beings themselves could not consume them at all, so they used them for external expansion;
They conquered all the way from Quel'Thalas to Stranglethorn Valley, and sent fleets to explore the western continent and the north. It's not even over yet. Humanity, without external enemies, has begun a civil war, and a continent-wide war will break out every few decades. As weapons and technology become more and more advanced, the damage caused becomes more and more irreversible. The latest war completely destroyed Lordaeron and Quel'Thalas.
More than five hundred years ago, when the powerful ships and cannons of the human army knocked on the door of Khaz Modan, which had been dormant for thousands of years, this place was not yet a unified country, but a union of large and small tribes;
The Lordaeron Expedition Fleet captured the Wetland Port in the north of Dun Morogh and renamed the place Menethil Port after their royal family's surname, with its troops directed towards Ironforge. The rulers of Khaz Modan's tribes were frightened by the powerful military power of the Human Alliance and signed a series of open treaties, ending their isolation from the world.
