The old monk sat next to him on a long stone bench.
He replied: "I am Duoji, and I am also the abbot of Yamu Temple. I saw you and two Ouyang benefactors coming to the temple yesterday. I didn't expect the benefactors to practice Buddhism."
After hearing this, Li Xiuyuan stood up and met the old monk Duoji again.
Then he replied: "I have been practicing Buddhism since I was a child, and I have been practicing in the temple for many years, but I have never become a monk."
Upon hearing this, the old monk couldn't help but ask: "As far as I know, Lantian Town is very small and there is no Buddhist temple. I wonder if the donor's family is in ***?"
"My home is in a place that I can't go back to right now. The three of us, master and apprentice, just passed by Lantian and lived there for a winter."
Li Xiuyuan did not ask the old monk where he came from. In his eyes, Yamushi, like Lantian, was just a place passing by.
Maybe tomorrow, he will leave with Xiaodie'er and Crow and go to Meishan.
Old monk Duoji did not ask any more questions. In his opinion, it was already a miracle that the young man in front of him could sit in front of the Buddhas and read a volume of scriptures.
After a long silence, Li Xiuyuan pointed at the slowly turning crowd. Many herdsmen and monks vigorously turned the prayer barrels passing by them and asked, "Master, what does this mean?"
Until this moment, the old monk believed that the young man in front of him was really passing by and was not a herdsman on the grassland.
So he smiled and asked: "The donor's face is covered by a piece of black cloth, can he still see these devout herdsmen?"
Li Xiuyuan took a breath. This was not the first person to ask him about this, but he had to answer seriously.
After thinking for a while, he said: "I lost my eyes due to some accidents. Although I cannot have a pair of Buddha's eyes, I still have an inner eye. Maybe one day I can cultivate a pair of wise eyes."
The old monk couldn't help but praise after hearing this: "If you have a good mind and look at the Buddha with your heart, you can naturally see the world and all living beings."
Li Xiuyuan nodded and replied softly: "The only shortcoming is that my eyes only see black and white, and I can't see more colors."
The old monk was stunned for a moment, and then blurted out: "If you can see black and white, you will be better than many people in the world."
Li Xiuyuan shook his head, but he did not want to engage in meditation with the old monk, but continued to ask: "Is there a Dharma conference in the temple today?"
The old monk replied: "No."
Li Xiuyuan thought for a while and then asked: "Why is that?"
The old monk sighed and said slowly: "Herdsmen, monks and I all do this. They are turning the mandala."
"Zhuan Mandala?" Li Xiuyuan was stunned, and then replied: "Master, please help me clear up my doubts."
The old monk nodded: "In the vast snowy land, whether you are a herdsman or a monk, you always have to visit the mandala once in your life."
The mandala is the place where the Buddhas live, and the wisdom and mighty virtues of the Buddhas are found here.
Herdsmen and monks, as well as practitioners, imagine themselves, sentient beings, and the world as holy as the mandala to obtain the essence of life.
Mandala is also called mandala.
There is a saying: "As long as you see the mandala, you won't fall into the Great Hell." Even if you see it once, you definitely don't need to fall into the Vajra Hell or other places.
The Buddha said: "The transformation of silence and fierceness, the mandala is worshiped before the altar, the oaths are broken without any residue, the five uninterrupted sins are purified, the Abi Hell is eradicated, and it is called the Vidyadhara Buddha Land."
Some practitioners turn a hundred times in their lifetime, while others make a thousand, ten thousand, or one hundred thousand turns.
No matter how many times you circle, you need to combine prostrations and chanting Buddhist scriptures.
Whether it is the herdsmen who come here, the monks in the temple, or the monks who are born in the world, they all come here to complete the spiritual practice they want to experience in their lives.
When Li Xiuyuan heard this, he couldn't help but praise: "This place is located in a plateau area. It is difficult for ordinary people to breathe. It has to be turned countless times. It really requires perseverance."
While the two were talking, a herdsman pushed a wheelbarrow and took his family in a circle outside the Buddhist temple.
After a while, another herdsman followed behind the wheelbarrow carrying a large animal skin bag, chanting scriptures, and slowly began to turn.
In less than a moment, Li Xiuyuan smelled a strong rotten smell in the slightly cold spring breeze.
With a frightened heart, a look of compassion appeared on his face, and he couldn't help but clasp his hands together and recite the Rebirth Mantra in a low voice.
The old monk sighed and whispered: "Today is the day of sky burial. Herdsmen from hundreds of miles away bring their dead relatives here to perform the mandala."
Li Xiuyuan's heart moved slightly and asked: "Does it have to be transferred when you are alive and also after death?"
The old monk nodded and replied: "This is because they hope that their relatives will not fall into hell again... After completing the mandala, they will take their relatives to the celestial burial platform."
"Good."
Li Xiuyuan was not familiar with the cultivation methods in Yamu Temple, so he could only admire them softly.
He has his own path of practice. If he has questions about the practice in Yamu Temple, he will only ask the holy monk on Xuefeng Mountain.
After all, his relationship with Yun Tianhong is closer.
As Li Xiuyuan watched silently, the old monk suddenly said: "In a while, I will go to the Sky Burial Platform to chant sutras. Do you want to go with me?"
"Is it far from the temple?"
Li Xiuyuan replied: "I still have two disciples who are snoozing, and I need to go to my two friends to explain something."
"It's not far. It's only half an hour's walk from the temple." the old monk replied.
Li Xiuyuan thought for a while and replied: "Okay, this will cause trouble for the master."
...
Back in the Zen room, Xiao Die'er had just gotten up and was about to go out to find the master, but the crow was still snoozing.
Li Xiuyuan made a pot of tea and said to Xiao Die'er: "I'm going to go out with the abbot here for a while. I'll be back in the afternoon. You can take your junior brother to rest in the house."
In Li Xiuyuan's opinion, this is a Buddhist temple, and with Ouyang Manxue and Ouyang Xuan here, there will naturally be no danger.
He could go and have a look with the old monk without worries. After all, the round trip only took an hour, so it was nothing to him.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Die'er asked nervously: "Master, are you going to fight again?"
Shaking his head, Li Xiuyuan said softly: "I'm going to see the sky burial in the snowy land. You can eat some dry food later and take your junior brother to chant sutras here."
After saying that, he spent a while and told Xiao Die'er about Yamu Temple's Mandala and the custom of sky burial.
When Xiao Die'er heard this, she immediately shook her head: "Xiao Die'er should stay here with Junior Brother. I'll go and play with Sister Man Xue later."
Li Xiuyuan smiled slightly: "She may not wake up until a while later."
While waiting for tea, Xiao Die'er took a piece of cake and put it on the table. After thinking for a while, she asked, "Master, will we leave here tomorrow?"
"What, are you anxious?"
Li Xiuyuan smiled and said: "We are getting closer and closer to Meishan now that we are here. We will be there in a short time."
Xiao Die'er thought for a while and asked, "Will Sister Manxue go with us?"
After finally meeting a companion on the road, Xiaodie'er naturally didn't want to leave so soon. She had to play together for a few days before separating.
Shaking his head, Li Xiuyuan said: "Ouyang Manxue's brother is in Meishan. You can follow your senior sister and senior brother to Yinchuan City and stay with them for a while."
"Master, have you been to Yinchuan City?" Xiaodie'er grabbed a piece of pastry and stuffed it into her mouth.
Li Xiuyuan replied: "No."
Xiao Die'er was stunned and said with a smile: "Then Xiao Die'er will accompany the master to have some fun."
Li Xiuyuan poured spiritual tea into their cups and said with a smile, "We'll talk about the rest later."
In his opinion, since he has never been there before, he is afraid that he will never go there again. After all, some people there do not welcome him.
Quietly, the master and the apprentice drank a pot of tea, and Xiaodieer ate a few pieces of cake. The voice of the old monk Duoji came to Li Xiuyuan's ears.
Li Xiuyuan put down the cup in his hand and said, "Ouyang Manxue is good at piano. When she wakes up, you can ask her for advice."
Xiao Die'er was stunned for a moment after hearing this: "It turns out that Sister Manxue also likes to play the piano. I'll ask her about it later."
Waving his hand, Li Xiuyuan went out and heard a sentence in the wind: "Remember, don't go outside the temple."
"I know, Master, you are so long-winded."
...
After following the old monk out of the temple, I found that the herdsmen who had brought their deceased relatives to visit the mandala had already left one after another, presumably heading to the sky burial platform.
The two of them walked in the spring breeze toward the hillside not far from the temple.
The old monk introduced: "The air here is thin, and the herdsmen are used to it, but the monks from other places are not used to it, and regard this place as a place of practice."
The old monk's words reminded Li Xiuyuan of the first time he went to Tianshan Mountain.
At that time, he was still wearing heavy iron armor, but he was a young man who didn't know the heights of the world. As a result, he couldn't sleep well all night long.
Later, my husband brewed a bucket of elixir for him, which relieved him a little.
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but praise: "Compared with Baixue City, the terrain here is indeed much higher, let alone places like Loulan."
In Li Xiuyuan's opinion, neither the Loulan in the dream nor the Bamboo Peak in Tianyun Mountain were as uncomfortable as the topography here.
It seems like a flat plain, but all the way from Snow White City, you have been climbing mountains until you reach the snowfields reaching into the sky.
The old monk laughed: "Although life here is poor, it is a treasured place for practice."
What the old monk didn't expect was that no matter whether his foot speed was fast or slow, Li Xiuyuan was always by his side.
As a result, the two of them had already reached the hillside in less than half an hour.
With a distance of nearly tens of feet, Li Xiuyuan suddenly felt a feeling of oppression in his chest. He raised his head and looked at the sky, which was originally clear and bright, but now became overcast with clouds.
It was like a black cloud that was too thick to melt away, tightly covering the top of the mountain.
It gave him a feeling of black clouds looming over the city, causing him to pause for breath for a moment. He didn't recover until he quietly used the power of Nirvana.
He sighed and said to the old monk: "The yin energy here is too strong. Why haven't the Buddhas come to save these dead sentient beings?"
The old monk suddenly heard Li Xiuyuan's words and couldn't help but be startled. Then he raised his head and looked at the heavy black clouds in the sky. The expression on his face changed again and again.
He couldn't even find a suitable word to explain the matter, so the two of them continued to move forward.
When he came to a door shaped like a monster's mouth, Li Xiuyuan frowned again as he watched the black figures bending down and walking in.
Because he found that the further he went, the heavier the yin energy became.
And he didn't want to bend down and walk into the monster-like palace like those herdsmen and monks.
So he asked: "Master, why is the atmosphere here getting weirder and weirder? Could it be that there is something evil here?"
Only then did the old monk understand. Then he clasped his hands and whispered: "Did you hear the birds in the sky? Those are vultures. The dome in this hall is inlaid with more than 9,000 human heads..."
With a sound of "Buzz!", Li Xiuyuan felt like stars were flying in front of his eyes, and a fire of nirvana was about to pour out of him and go to the palace not far away.
This was the most horrifying thing he had heard since he started practicing.
Just when he was about to run away, the old monk stretched out his hand to hold his shoulders and said in a deep voice: "Everything has a cause. Please listen to me."
