A day of retreat today

Yesterday I was scanning books on Tomato, and I was so excited that I didn’t go to bed until four in the morning. I feel like I have come out of a misunderstanding.

What is this misunderstanding? It is that many of the so-called best-sellers I have been reading are actually bad to some extent. I'm always misled by rankings, thinking they still have merit.

But in fact, just because your work is better than these hot chicks doesn’t mean you can succeed.

Because the success of these books is only due to the accumulation of many factors, including the support of capital behind them, the strong promotion of websites, and unscrupulous operations. Such a book can neither represent the development direction of online literature nor provide me with a positive case.

In other words, if this book is written by a first-level author, competing on the same stage at the starting point without operations and a fan base, it may be nothing.

In other words, the achievable ceiling is extremely low, and it does not represent the mainstream of historical literature at all, let alone any development trends.

Then I saw the "flowers outside the greenhouse" on the free tomatoes. Under the competitive conditions of "if they fail to attract readers, they will die immediately", how on earth are they blooming and how are these saplings growing?

The result is great enlightenment.

Tomatoes is indeed Rotten Tomatoes, and there are a lot of things to complain about. I won’t go into details about those, only the good points.

In terms of "readability", I think Tomato's bestsellers have comprehensively surpassed the top level of Qidian. Ordinary readers cannot use words to describe the difference between the so-called "little white text" and "readability", and even the authors of some best-selling books cannot explain why.

This is how I understand it.

Because I don't understand anything, I make up random "white" articles. This is a white article. Because it does not consider logic, everything is divorced from reality, and even cannot be logically self-consistent. It will give readers an unmistakable feeling. Alienation, this is the first level.

What’s more, the packaging is exquisite, but everything is decided by the author, resulting in a series of coincidences, completely ignoring human nature and social background, and just seeking to make myself happy, and the content is empty. This is the second level.

Then there is the logic of the book, as well as the general logic of the social background and historical background, but the writing is very dry, making it impossible for readers to understand the author's intention. This is the third level.

By the third level, it is actually very powerful. Many famous works in modern France are at this level, and it is often only modern people who can understand what the author wants to express a hundred years after the author's death.

But I think there is a higher level here, which is to have a thorough understanding of human nature, historical background, and historical events, to the point where you can use them with ease. Even a novice who knows nothing can understand the author's intention very well without any reading difficulties.

This level is what I think is the highest realm. Of course, I can’t do it yet.

For example, in a "novice" historical text, the language in it can't be more popular, and the story line can't be simpler. However, it can explain the story clearly and wonderfully, and it can be profound for ordinary readers. Understand its historical environment and background, and do not make it up randomly. The textual research is accurate and flawless.

Isn’t this kind of book great?

Are they more self-proclaimed than some authors who always emphasize that "no coincidence can make a book", but in fact it is just a historical cover, but it is actually an idol drama?

Some people think that this is the “ceiling”. Isn’t it ridiculous?

It is very sad to fall into the situation of a frog in a well, thinking that the sky is only so short without looking at it.

Just like the complaints made by many readers in my comment area, their opinions are very naive and have no understanding of the historical background of the Tang Dynasty. These opinions are not even worth refuting.

However, I feel that it is very complicated and laborious to refute them. This in itself indicates a weak control of the material and the plot of the story. It seems that I am actually half a loser.

Just because someone writes something better than a badass author, it doesn't mean that he is not a badass author, or that he can only write relatively strong badass works.

But I have confidence. After all, I do have a vision, but my hands are still a bit weak, and I can’t yet write the realm in my mind.

But that will be a matter of time.

Today I will retreat for a day to refresh my brain, and tomorrow I will make up for today’s problems with double updates.
