The drawings of the new liquid oxygen kerosene engine are still being drawn in an orderly manner.
After Zhang Xingyang broke down all the drawings, he handed the drawings of each component to those who chose to stay in the institute.
I finally have time to solve some problems in the actual manufacturing of the engine, such as one of the most critical problems.
Engine material problem!
Materials serve as the skeleton of an engine and almost determine how powerful an engine can perform.
In particular, the requirements for materials used in engine combustion chambers and tail nozzles are so high that it is difficult to add them again.
Without extremely high temperature resistance and impact resistance, the ultra-high temperature and ultra-speed turbulence generated by the engine during operation will instantly destroy the engine's combustion chamber wall and tail nozzle.
Generally speaking, at this point in time, the high-temperature alloys used in aerospace engines are generally titanium alloys or nickel-based high-temperature alloys.
Carbon-based composite materials, or high-temperature-resistant ceramic-based composite materials, which were later widely used, were considered relatively high-end materials in the 1990s.
Large-scale preparation is expensive, and the general performance is not very good.
Take two-dimensional carbon-carbon composite materials as an example. In theory, this material has excellent properties such as good high temperature resistance, ablation resistance and high high temperature strength. And its density is very low, and its designability and processability are far better than those of commonly used high-temperature alloys.
However, the current performance of this material is not satisfactory, mainly due to problems with the surface treatment process. When the temperature is above 3000 degrees, the carbon film on the surface will be oxidized and passivated, thereby reducing the high temperature resistance.
In later generations, coatings were generally used to isolate materials from direct contact with oxygen, thereby achieving the purpose of preventing oxidation.
In the 1990s, research on various high-performance antioxidant coatings was not very developed.
Especially in the 22nd century when Zhang Xingyang lived, the exploration of such basic materials has been completely handed over to the powerful ring star central processor for calculation, thus completely transforming it into a product of time and energy.
The amount of new materials produced every year by that terrifying giant structure with a mass of two Earths requires scientific notation to fully express it.
Therefore, the brain protein chip in Zhang Xingyang's brain is the best among them. Every performance in this era is Zenith Star technology that is more than a hundred years ahead of the world.
Of course, limited by the hardware equipment of this era, it is difficult to achieve the original material performance even if the formula of these materials remains unchanged.
It's like if a person traveled back in time to World War II with a complete monocrystalline silicon preparation process, he would not be able to achieve the original performance level. Being able to prepare a small amount in the laboratory can be regarded as a genius.
Fortunately, the research institute has preparation equipment that will look very crude in the future but is relatively advanced now.
Generally speaking, the preparation of two-dimensional carbon-carbon composite materials requires the production of a bottom carbon embryo first, and then chemical vapor deposition or infiltration of pyrolytic carbon.
During this process, carbon source gases (such as CH4, C2H4, C3H6, C3H8, etc.) will pyrolyze and deposit carbon on the base carbon fiber cloth to fill the gaps in the porous preform on the carbon fiber.
This step is mainly to densify the material so that the material can obtain better density.
The most critical thing in this step is the CVI furnace, and there happens to be one such equipment in the institute. This equipment was imported from abroad in order to explore high-performance carbon brazing materials.
Zhang Xingyang placed the carbon fiber prefabricated body in the CVI furnace according to his memory, then set the temperature in the furnace to 2100 degrees, and introduced natural gas and carrier gas into the gas generator.
After waiting for a short while, Zhang Xingyang introduced the mixed gas into the CVI furnace. Now is the critical time to decide on carbon-carbon composite materials. It is at this time whether composite materials that meet Zhang Xingyang's requirements can be prepared.
Zhang Xingyang glanced at the pressure gauge on the mixed gas generator. There was no difference between the speed of the mixed gas flowing in and Zhang Xingyang's memory.
Next, the carbon fiber base layer needs to stay in the CVI furnace for 13 hours.
Zhang Xingyang called Su Xiao, a young researcher who used to work in this composite materials laboratory, a little girl who had just come to the institute for internship from the University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a school girl who was one year younger than Zhang Xingyang.
"Xiao Su, please check the CVI stove. It is expected to take another 13 hours. If there are any problems, come to my office to see me. When it is about to end, call me half an hour in advance."
Zhang Xingyang glanced at the watch on his hand, yawned and said.
As the person in charge of the new engine, Zhang Xingyang took very little rest every day during this period, and could only sleep for four hours at most every day.
At this time, Zhang Xingyang misses his body that was genetically enhanced in the 22nd century and can still maintain full energy without rest for 48 hours.
After instructing Su Xiao on how to forcefully shut down the device after an emergency, Zhang Xingyang yawned and left the laboratory.
Walking to the door of the office in a daze, Zhang Xingyang found Liang Yi sitting in the office waiting for him.
After rubbing his cheeks, which were a little stiff because he had not rested for a long time, Zhang Xingyang felt a little more energetic and asked:
"Uncle Liang, what happened?"
Liang Yi looked at Zhang Xingyang, who had not taken a shower for several days and was looking slovenly, and frowned and said:
"Xingyang, don't be too anxious about the institute. We uncles and uncles are still watching, so you should also pay attention to your body!"
"Haha, it's okay. I'm still young and can hold on!" Zhang Xingyang poured water from the thermos on the table and waved his hand:
"Is this why Uncle Liang came back here?"
Zhang Xingyang handed Liang Yi a cup filled with warm water, sat down on the chair and stretched his waist that seemed to be rusty.
When Liang Yi heard the question, his brows relaxed, the corners of his mouth raised slightly and he said:
"There is good news. The investigation by the international insurance company believes that this accident met their standards for determining damage."
Hearing such news, Zhang Xingyang, who was already expressionless from exhaustion, became a little excited.
"Does that mean the compensation will be paid in the near future?"
Liang Yi looked embarrassed at this time, sighed and said:
"The insurance compensation process is not that simple. If you can get the money within this year, it means the insurance company is doing things quickly."
Zhang Xingyang wondered: "Uncle Liang, our insurance limit this time is only 62 million U.S. dollars. It is only a small amount of money for the United Insurance Company that insures it. Their annual profits exceed 2 billion U.S. dollars. How can it take so long?"
Liang Yi looked at Zhang Xingyang, who really knew little about this aspect, and said a little helplessly:
"Their argument is that there have been too many aerospace insurance accidents recently, manpower is a bit tight, and we need to queue up."
"Fuck you, aren't you bullying us?!" Zhang Xingyang couldn't help but curse.
The other party's excuse was too bad. As a very large group with global business scope, how could it not even have this little manpower?
It's nothing more than bullying that you don't have space insurance at home, so you can only listen to him. As long as he delays you for one more day, the money will make a lot of money in the bank.
"Uncle Liang, we must have our own aerospace insurance in the Dragon Kingdom in the future." Zhang Xingyang said fiercely.
