First, let’s learn more about the levels and markings of county police officers.
Police officers are divided into three levels. The first level has bare sleeves and no mountain stripes on the sleeves. They are generally probationary students and trainee police officers. These police officers usually patrol with the FTO and conduct on-the-spot police training. The second level is a mountain pattern, which is the Deputy Sheriff, doing single-person patrol tasks and solving ordinary cases. The third level is the two mountain lines, which is the Detective or FTO (Field Training Officer) training officer. Among them, the police detectives do not need to wear police uniforms. They wear civilian clothes most of the time and handle some major cases. The FTO training officer is responsible for leading the training of trainee police officers.

Further up are the lieutenant and captain. The lieutenant is a vertical bar and usually manages a group, such as the criminal and homicide unit. The captain is two vertical bars.
