"What's the kid doing here?" the judge asked, in an annoyed tone. "The trial institution is not a nursery!" Uriel noticed that the door was not closed tightly, so he glanced at the tutor.
"A Silver Song Knight sent him over to ask for treatment." It seemed like an elderly woman was speaking.
"Disposal?" The judge's voice suddenly rose, "Send this kid back to his parents, what the hell! Tell him, maybe he can go there himself. Oh, remember to buy some candies along the way, tell this kid to stop running around... and then finally Give him a good beating!" After the apprentice cheered, he heard frightened cries.
"The kid is accused of treason."
"What a mess!" A strange whisper interrupted the judge.
"There is no precedent for this." It was still the voice of an old woman. She spoke slowly: "We need to treat crimes fairly and must not be biased against someone."
"What you are trying is not the crime, but the criminal." Someone retorted, I am afraid they all have the power to judge. Uriel didn't understand how the court worked, he had never seen it. "And the so-called criminal is just an ignorant brat."
"Anyone who breaks the law is just a carrier of sin." The woman insisted.
"You have a vicious heart, ma'am."
The other party became furious: "How dare you verbally attack others in court?"
There was a loud bang. "Quiet!" the judge roared, "Each of you will give evidence and stop talking nonsense."
"The accused stole the secrets of the empire. According to the law, he must be executed as a warning." The female voice said, "That Silversong Knight should take action directly! I will tell his superiors about this." Uriel saw Joey stretching out his hand. Grasping the hilt of the sword, he couldn't help but feel pity for her.
"No one told him that it was an empire secret before he took action." A soft voice said. "Just pretend he doesn't know. I think it's enough to pull out his tongue. He can't write anyway."
"He doesn't understand anything. Can't you see it? What's the difficulty in letting him go directly?"
"We have to be responsible for our words." A strange voice, a sharp and thin male voice. "This boy looks like a demi-human. Soldier, let him show his fingers... Oh, God!" The guy screamed out of control. "Did you see? His fingernails are all black. This is evidence."
"At most it proves that he doesn't like to wash his hands." Uriel was pleased to find that there was still a judge with normal thinking inside.
"Yes, he may not have washed his hands, but it may have been to leave a mark on the letter."
"Yeah?"
"Indeed, it is possible." People began to whisper again. The boy had stopped crying a long time ago. He sniffed loudly and made a rustling sound. Uriel guessed he was wiping his face with his sleeve.
"What is that damn letter?" Uriel asked his mentor, but as always, he received no reply.
The sound gradually grew louder, and the noise seeped out of the courtroom through the cracks in the door and wandered down the dark corridor. This is because of the weather. If it was sunny outside, the glass would let in colorful light, but today it didn't. None from morning to night. Uriel and Joey looked at different corners silently, and no one spoke anymore. The air was heavy and dead, and he thought of the mines beneath the Morris Mountains.
"No quarreling!" the judge slapped again, "Everyone takes a five-minute break." He seemed to be dismissing a group of apprentices.
When he spoke again, his tone seemed to be that of a different person. Yuri suddenly felt something bad.
"No way." The judge said softly, "Okay, kid, I will exempt you from punishment. No one will beat you for being naughty." The boy stopped even twitching his nose, and Uriel listened attentively. "You can still get candy. But unfortunately, you broke the law and we have to chop your head off."
Uriel suddenly turned his face and met Joey's eyes. There was a strange look in the tutor's eyes that was half-smiling but not smiling. "You deserve it." His voice came through the visor.
The apprentice knows that questioning the other person is not the most important thing now, but it is the easiest. Then the accusation blurted out: "How can you say that?"
"Because that's the truth."
"Facts? These are all lies. The whole world is a dream." He seemed to be looking at a madman, and Uriel pretended not to understand his gaze. "But you are different. Joey, your will is real. Even if this is your past, you can try to change it."
"That's nonsense." The other party sneered.
It sounds like ꓹ but I also have proof. Too bad they are a thousand years into the future. "You will change, I promise." Uriel said this and then turned around to push the door open. The instructor frowned and looked at him, but he didn't have time to stop him because he was thinking...
...A hand grabbed the apprentice's shoulder, and he subconsciously drew his sword and slashed at it. The clash of steel produced a harsh friction sound.
"What are you doing here?" Knight Commander Silver Song asked. As soon as he reached out his hand, Uriel's sword suddenly slipped out of his palm and was thrown aside by him. The apprentice was stunned and backed away, looking down at his arms.
"Answer the question, Uriel."
I didn't let go, the apprentice thought. He was almost certain that he was exerting force. However, the hilt of the sword suddenly came out of his hand and was snatched away by the opponent. A kind of weird force can erupt twice after the collision, which is simply the category of magic.
But that's no excuse. He could hardly remember the last time his weapon was knocked away by Joey. For a whole week of training sessions, Uriel underwent special exercises to hold the weapon firmly, and he would not lose it even if he hit the joint with a stick.
Today's "victor" has conquered Saint Valoran, and according to records, he is even more powerful than during the Dragon Scourge. Pure mysterious strength cannot convince mysterious creatures of the same level. As the legion commander of the Silver Song Knights, Veronca's fighting skills are equally superb. He never failed in his life.
Uriel's anger must have shown, as Veronka turned to look at Joey. "What are you doing here again?"
"Waiting for someone to be beheaded, sir."
"Really? Who?"
"A criminal who stole confidential letters."
"That's a boy under ten years old!" Uriel pointed out. "He doesn't understand anything. You could have found the letter and taught him a lesson about stealing. Damn treason!"
Veronka took a step back, "Is this really true?"
"Who knows?" Joey's tone seemed to be saying "who cares." "I am acting as ordered, sir."
"Your commander is right here." Knight Commander Silversong said, "He ordered you to stay aside."
"I'm sorry, Lord Legion Commander, my immediate superior is the Archbishop. I am a damn Cross Knight of the Holy Church, have you forgotten?"
"I know you don't listen to him." He paused slightly, "You are the emperor's man, and he will probably not be happy when he learns that you did this."
By the way, I am currently using the Zhuishu app to cache reading and read aloud offline!
He mostly treats it as nonsense and doesn't even listen. Joey's eyes said so. But fortunately, the mentor did not insist on opposing the Silver Song Knight. He stiffly stepped aside.
Uriel just figured it out that the emperor they were talking about was not Elberhorsham, but his eldest son MacAdam. But according to records, before Orenia could prosper under the new emperor's decree, it faced a devastating disaster, also known as the Dragon Scourge. The end of Orenia is now approaching...
"Very good." Knight Commander Silver Song pushed the door open and then slammed the door shut, blocking out all sounds behind the door. When he came out, he was holding the boy in his hands, and his palms were dripping with blood. They chopped off his fingers in the courtroom, and Uriel couldn't help but look away. At least it's not the head.
Seeing that no one raised any objections, Legend of Dawn War was quite satisfied. "Are we ready to talk about business now?" Without waiting for an answer, he turned directly to Joey: "Go back to the temple to find Sterling. You will be busy next. If nothing else happens, you will have to leave Malandeno in three days. "
The instructor asked nothing. "As commanded."
Uriel watched Joey leave until Veronca tapped him on the shoulder. "Your preaching is ineffective," Knight Commander Silversong said. "I bet he can't even memorize the shortest hymn."
"I'm sorry, my lord. I wasn't diligent enough."
"How long have you been holding on?" The knight commander seemed interested.
"As long as we meet." Uriel answered cautiously, knowing that he had no identity in the dream. His profession can protect him for a while, but as long as the other party goes to the Mercury Temple to verify, the lie will be exposed.
"Really? No wonder he hates the Holy Church." Fortunately, Veronka is not so free. "I'm looking for a letter, but I'm afraid I can't find it. This kid is very clever, but it's a pity that he picked the wrong target." He turned out to be the owner.
Uriel's eyes widened in surprise. This kid could actually steal a letter from the pocket of "Victor" Veronka? "With all due respect, sir, the content of that letter...?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen it." Knight Commander Silver Song coughed, "Maybe I dropped it somewhere, I was very drunk at the time... It doesn't matter, it's not important anyway, oh, there is indeed a royal seal... Used to scare peeping servants. That’s what my wife likes to do.”
A letter home. "Then this was a false alarm, and it's worth celebrating." A certain boy almost lost his life just to get a letter from the princess to her husband. Uriel could not say that such things had become less common after a thousand years. "Thank you for your tolerance."
"Congratulations? You are right. There is no way. Since yesterday, there are too many things to worry about... Do you have any plans in the afternoon, Uriel?"
The mentor was going to the Mercury Temple, and Uriel couldn't follow him to avoid being suspected by the monks. "No, my lord."
"It's worth a drink for that brat, isn't it? I know a good pub."
Uriel didn't know whether he should agree or not, because the other party didn't ask him at all. "But my lord"
"Of course missionaries can drink. They must be there, that's an order."
"Order? No, my lord"
Veronka interrupted him: "Anyway, you meet the minimum standards of the Silver Song Knights, and you are also good at swordsmanship. Pine is still short of a squire, and he needs you."
Uriel regretted saying that he was idle. It seemed that the invitation from Knight Commander Silver Song was more like a dragon's den than a mercury temple. "I quite like being a monk." He quickly refused, "Let's talk about the tavern. Sir, which one are you referring to?"
"The name is quite strange, it's called Duke's Toe." said the legend of the future Dawn War. "It is said that a Duke was drunk there and rolled down the steps and broke his toes. Do you really think that rolling down the steps can only break your toes?" ?”
Uriel's expression hardened.
