After Tori escapes the building, Mina slowly wipes down the counter. Once she was done, she went through all the files for the day, mostly based on the logs of who I knew were on assignment, and when satisfied, placed it in a locked box under the counter. She stretched a long body, then grabbed a notebook and five inferior flowers dropped by the adventurer, and walked out from behind the counter.
Mina knelt down in front of me, eye level, ha, and grabbed me behind my ears. "Well, Cat, I can't keep calling you Cat in my head. Or out loud, so, I've decided to name you Soot." She said, I was kind of expecting her to name it, it felt like a big deal, but oh, All right. I think I'm just ashes now.
"Ugh, that was such a long day! It keeps going like this and the adventurers are all assholes." She complained, quickly picking me up and snatching me away from my beloved warm blankets and sunshine. I let out a small protest, which Mina completely ignored. She walked up the stairs to her room, put me on the table, and flopped onto the bed with a tired sigh. Enjoying lying face down in pillows and blankets and doing nothing all day long.
As an expert on the subject, I agree with this choice, although personally, if I were her, I would change out of the guild receptionist uniform.
Mina needed to take a nap and I needed to do something productive. Sure, I had a whole day free to just sit on a blanket in the sun while being petted by various adventurers, but that wasn't really freedom since I needed to eavesdrop and judge random people. It is indeed hard and painful work.
I decided to try something. Both Radia and Mina have now mentioned a 'state' that can be brought out by just focusing? This sounds like a pretty important thing, but how should I focus on it? There's no harm in giving it a try after all, and a long, scrolling blue window appeared in front of me.

Okay, that settles it. Now, what does this all mean? The name was obviously a little off-putting, since it said Soot, not my human name. Level 1 is disappointing, but not surprising considering I didn't do anything to improve it. Race is my feline side, I guess. No course made sense, but the space there meant I could eventually get a course. Do cats have their own class? Or do I have to take regular classes while being a cat like a mage? My title is blank but it says there is an option and I will take a look. Due to the injury to my paw, health may be declining. The magic must be full because I don't know how to use it. Thankfully, the skills are also pretty simple. I know I have Insight Level 2 and Pity Level 1, I thought I already had the Auto Translate skill when I got here? There's no way everyone happens to speak the same language as me. I don't know any spells.
Well rested as I slept all day. The unfamiliar body debuff makes sense, I'm still pretty new to four legs. Finally, motor skills were impaired, almost certainly due to the bandages on my paws

Unfortunately, the drop-off from "Death Defiant" to "Pacifist" to "Freeloader" is pretty quick, and it seems like I have more titles that insult me than titles that actually serve as titles . “Nosy” is on the list of bad manners. Again, I wasn't judging, but I actually was... Yeah, now that I think about it I was, but they all deserved it and it wasn't hurting anyone, so shut up, status menu. I'm not a "freeloader" either, Mina brought me here out of the kindness of her heart to give me a place to live, but I make her happy so we are equals.
Finally, the last title is "The Spectator." I probably got it while Mina was fighting that asshole flower picker because I was fine. I admit, I'm just a cat and I can't scold them or fight them. Even beating them hard will have no effect. Mina's parents will only let me stay here if I don't cause trouble.
But now, I still need to choose a title. I'm going with a cooler title that might give away my status as a hero who should have arrived but didn't - I doubt many cats have the "world traveler" title after all - and that might not end up being brilliantly done . What if the church forces me to fight? What if I go to jail for absconding? If I had to end a war, how could I sit on a counter all day doing nothing?
So, I had to choose between sounding cool and being smart and safe.
The title has been set to "Rebel of the Gods."
I love this title and I truly deserve it. I just exist and they come to me through circumstances. Sure, this is one of the riskier names to choose, but who would use I on a random cat
sight, who would listen to them anyway? Yes, of course, fictional people, everyone will totally believe in some cat fighting God.
Closing the status menu, I looked at Mina. She slowly and reluctantly got up from the bed and walked towards the table where I was lying. Hopefully she'll have a funny reaction to my new title.
