On time for the first time in my life.
The setting sun shines in, its soft light shining directly on my blanket. I lazily opened my eyes, stretched out of my original circular position, stretched my back, and yawned.
After a flower-picker super-failure, the rest of Mina's day went pretty smoothly. I slept most of the time, but the sun seemed very warm and comforting to me, and I couldn't stay awake and concentrate in this situation. ha
The whole building is much quieter now. There used to be a row of adventurers of all kinds lining up outside the door, but now there is only one customer left in the store, quietly browsing the potions on the shelf.
Tori, "Pride of the Village", human boy, level 10.
Well, she didn't make too much of an impression. The only person I've met so far who has a lower level than Mina, but at least she has a title. Teenagers sounds like an odd class, though, and probably not a very popular one. Maybe that's all she has to choose, or maybe she's secretly super powerful. Speaking of awesome people, I haven’t checked Mina’s information yet.
Mina, human, level 11.
Oh, she really sucks. I understand. There isn't even a teen class, although there may be teens. I'm not very good at telling ages, but she looks young? Maybe there are more requirements, not like I know how things work here. If only I could get some kind of tutorial.
The young Tori checked the potions in her inventory, grabbed a bottle, and quietly walked to the counter.
"Hello! Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild! How can I help you?" Mina said happily.
"Uh, I want to buy this potion," Tori stammered nervously. We can clearly see you want to purchase the potion tray and put it together.
"Okay! Is that all?" Mina asked with a smile.
"Ah, no, I'd like to join the guild if I could." She said, her voice getting smaller and smaller, almost disappearing completely.
Mina didn't miss a beat. "Absolutely! In the Adventurer's Guild, anyone can join!" She hid behind the counter, rummaged through several drawers, and then took out a piece of paper with the applicant's information written on it. "I just want to ask a few questions first. You know how to check your status, right?"
"Of course, just be serious," Tori replied.
Wait, didn't Radia mention this when she broke into my dream? I made a mental note not to forget to try opening my status.
"Okay, perfect. What's your name, race, class, rank?"
"To
i, human, boy, I am already level 10. Tori replied, clearly mortified by the quiet way she spoke. Didn't Mina just use Insight? It said all four.
"Okay..." Mina wrote down the information on the paper and then asked the next question. "Just asking a few questions to see how prepared you are. Do you know how the mission system works?"
"Well, I guess so? Mostly?" Tori said noncommittally.
"Well, that's no." Mina took a deep breath. "Each mission has a level, the weakest and easiest missions are F-level, and that's where you start. You can take on any F-level mission, no mission should be too big of a challenge, simple things like Harvest five living leaf flowers. Babies can do it too" she clenched her fists again. "If you want to try leveling up, complete 3 F+ level missions, which are only E level missions, and our guild thinks this is a good introduction to the next level, and you will be promoted to E level! From there, you can repeat the process And continue to rank, as long as you're strong enough to actually complete the mission. Got it?"
Tori definitely doesn't understand any of this. Of course I didn't. "Uh, yes! Crystal clear!" She lied.
"Perfect!" Mina checked a box. "Are you familiar with the basics of combat, the adventurer's rules, and proper potion protocol?"
"Uh, yeah, I know the first two. Not sure about the potion protocol though, what is that?" Tori replied.
Mina's eyes lit up. She cleared her throat sharply, took a breath, and began to explain.
"So, potions are extremely important to any adventurer. They can heal you, replenish your mana, make you stronger, make you more resilient, enhance your senses, cure dehydration, and make you On fire—but in a good way, I swear!" Mina paused, then continued with her list of potions. "There are potions that harden your skin, let you breathe underwater, make you grow extra arms, reduce your gravity, turn you into slime, make your magic stronger, keep you from sleeping, eliminate Pain, hallucinate like crazy, make you luckier, attune you to the gods, turn you into another race, change your gender, give you a better sense of interior design, make your hair grow flowers, make You are invisible, making you invisible, making you immune to poison, leaving you to leave, and this is just the beginning of the effect of the potion!" I think she understood what Mina was thinking.
This isn't over yet. "In addition to potions you can drink, there are also throwable potions that produce various effects such as acid clouds, poison, smoke screens, mist to water your garden, and usually some of the potion effects listed above, but in Within an area. There are also some potions that you can apply to a certain area instead of drinking them, such as therapeutic ointments applied directly to the wound, anti-sun potions, insect repellent potions, limb elimination potions, and the like.
But then again, these are just a few of the thousands of potions out there! Mina finally finished, and luckily she seemed happy to talk about the potion.
It seemed that the explosion of information about the potion's effects had left Tori dazed, and she still had enough consciousness to open her mouth and try to ask a question. But she didn't, and Mina didn't give her a chance. Tori had asked about potions, she was sure to know about them.
"Potions, while magical and useful, are not without limitations. They require considerable knowledge to successfully craft a quality potion, and most people can only handle two to four potions before all the ingredients begin to interact with their inner mana reaction, they will die painfully in a few hours. So, if you like life, don't drink too much, understand?" Mina said,
Her tone was too optimistic for someone warning of a horrific death. Tori looked shocked, but nodded meekly. "Great! So, uh, proper potion protocol is this. Don't drink more than two cups unless you know what you're doing. Oh! Also, don't buy a poorly brewed potion, if the brew ingredients are bad, the effects will be Weakened, and may have terrible side effects." Mina patted her cheek absentmindedly, lost in thought.
"Well, yeah, I didn't forget anything. That was a proper introduction to potions," she said, checking another box on the form and looking over it carefully.
"Sign below and you will be an official member of the guild!" Mina said as she handed the applicant information form and a piece of charcoal to Tori, who rejected the rough pencil. Instead, she let her fingers glow and signed her name with magic, a slightly shaky signature. show off.
"Congratulations and welcome to the Adventurer's Guild! Feel free to look at the mission board and see if there's anything you like." Mina handed Tori a bronze pin. "This password is proof of your membership, don't lose it. It's not a big deal if you do this, but it will be troublesome for me to find a replacement for you, and you won't be able to enjoy the guild's 20% discount in some shops and restaurants. Discount."
"Uh, thank you. I'll try not to lose it. So, am I in the guild now? That's it?" Tori asked, still recovering from her potions ramble.
"Yes! Congratulations! Adventure is the biggest dream of many people, I wish you good luck!" Mina said happily, and then suddenly realized.
"You want to buy something too? Oh! A potion! In a moment..."
"No, it's okay, I'll uh, put this back," Tori said hurt. With trembling hands, she took the life potion back to the shelf and almost trotted towards the door.
"Wha-no! It doesn't matter! You can safely drink a dose of the potion without dying!" Mina yelled before slumping down on the counter. "I can't do this anymore..." she whispered, starting to stroke my fur gently, burying her face in her other arm. It's been a long day for her and I guess I can allow that.
