"hiss……"
"call……"
Rapid breathing sounded in the dark and cold room, and the clock turned rigidly, making a clicking sound.
"Don't be anxious. Speak slowly. We have plenty of time."
Half of the man's body across the table is immersed in the shadows, and his neat white shirt and black tie can only be vaguely seen. The exquisite skull cane is casually placed aside. Following the client's words, the white ink-stained The quill writes something on the paper.
"So, what is your commission?"
The man raised his head and asked. As he moved, the recording hand stopped. The ink followed the tip of the pen and condensed into a black dot on the paper.
"Mr. Ewell, I know my request is unreasonable. I accidentally left my father's badge in the lounge. It was the only relic he left me, but I really don't want to go back, so I just I'm asking you to come."
"Going to the museum to retrieve your father's badge?"
The man called Evel was a little confused.
"right……"
The roar outside the window concealed his response. The huge patrol airship floated slowly like a whale. Gray particles floated in the air, surrounding the city like mist, and the outlines of buildings were vaguely visible.
"Please don't worry, Black River Detective Agency has accepted your commission."
Ivel's words were reassuring. The flame of the kerosene lamp was burning, casting dancing shadows on the wall. The darkness seemed to have life, permeating with weirdness and coldness.
"This is my employee ID card. With this I can enter the museum."
The client placed a thin booklet on the table and pushed it in front of Ivel. The cover of the booklet was printed with the special gilding logo of the Polnia Museum and the three characters "Employee ID".
"Can you tell me why you don't want to go to the museum?"
Ivel suddenly asked.
"I had some conflicts with the administrator..."
"I heard you resigned?"
"Uh... I guess." The client scratched his head sheepishly and said.
"You just said that according to the schedule, you should be on... the night shift today?"
"Yes."
Ivel turned to look out the window. The gloomy sky seemed to be darker.
"it's getting dark."
"It's already this late. Sorry, Mr. Iver, I have to go home. No matter what they say, I won't go to work there anymore."
The client stood up, shook Evel's hand respectfully, and when he turned to leave the detective agency, he turned to look at Evel. He reached into his pocket, hesitating whether to take out the employee rules from his pocket.
"What's wrong?" Ivel turned his head and asked in confusion.
"nothing."
The client opened the door and walked out.
Ivel put down his quill, and after a while, all the writing he had just recorded on the paper disappeared little by little.
Then, new words slowly appeared on the paper.
Here, there has been such a saying.
If it's not necessary, don't get close...
Polnia Museum.
