Chapter 13 The second brother is not that bad
Since we humans like to judge people by their appearance, the same is true when we treat animals.
Because hyenas are ugly, they are known as kings of vat diggers. It seems that only ugly-looking animals like hyenas can do such obscene things.
Also, not only has the hyena been given the reputation of being the king of jar diggers, but it has also been given the reputation of robbing other people of food. It seems that in the entire African savannah, hyenas are the only ones who rob other people of their food. Other animals just hunt by themselves honestly.
In fact, on the prairie, any predator will steal other people's food.
In order to survive, animals cannot of course just hunt by themselves. They will not rob others when they see others succeed in hunting.
Think about how this is possible.
The reason why human society can have these rules is based on the fact that mankind has solved the problem of food and clothing.
There is a saying that goes well, morality is preaching based on food and clothing.
If we can't even provide food and clothing, there's no need to talk about morality.
For animals, they are struggling to die every day. They are busy all day and night, actually just to make a living.
If human society has reached a stage where everyone cannot even ensure that they have enough to eat, then human society will be the same as the animal world. There simply cannot be so many moral rules.
The reason why the animal world is very cruel is because they live below the subsistence line. Their whole life is just to fight to stay alive. If you don't fight and plunder, you'll starve to death.
To say that competition in human society can be said to be a life-and-death struggle is just a metaphor or an exaggeration. In the animal world, their competition is a bloody life-and-death battle, a real life-and-death battle.
You said, in this life-and-death animal world, do we still need to talk about justice and morality? Obviously, these things are not suitable for the animal world.
The animal world is all about strength and speed, as well as all kinds of strange survival wisdom and survival skills. There is no such thing as mercy, sympathy, morality and justice.
These thoughts and feelings are unique to human society. For animals, all they need is food. Nothing else to ask for.
Animals maintain the minimum requirements for life. Their only enjoyment is to eat. Moreover, they will not taste the food, as long as they can eat enough.
Animals rarely damage the natural environment. They only find the minimum food from the environment that can sustain their lives.
Relatively speaking, human life is an extreme waste, a ruthless plunder and destruction of large natural resources.
If humans always look at the animal world from a human perspective, it would be completely wrong. This is also a way to avoid back pain while standing and talking.
For animals like hyenas, we must not judge them by their appearance. Although they look ugly, they are one of the most successful predators on the savannah. Any actions they take to obtain prey are normal.
Any behavior a hyena performs would be performed by other predators. Some of the rhetoric we use to slander hyenas is actually the superb survival skills of hyenas.
In fact, the real king of tank diggers on the savannah is not the hyena, but the hyena’s cousin, the African wild dog.
The African wild dog is the real king of vat diggers. Hyenas actually learned this skill from wild dogs.
The reason why wild dogs resort to such extremely despicable behavior to hunt is because they are smaller and less powerful than hyenas. That's why they need to use such extremely cruel methods to kill their prey.
Wild dogs are not only real vat diggers, but also real robbers. Even hyenas’ food is often snatched away by wild dogs.
Not only will wild dogs snatch hyenas' food, but once they encounter a lone hyena, they will immediately go and hunt it down. If successful, eat it.
So, if you have to use some despicable words to describe the food animals in Africa, it would not be hyenas, but wild dogs.
However, what Chu Ye saw now was a hyena, not a wild dog.
Chu Ye stood on the big tree of his home and saw at a glance that there were more than a dozen hyenas moving in the north of the territory. They seemed to be spying on something.
"Damn it, what do these ugly robbers want to do?"
For Chu Ye, of course, like ordinary people, he would not have a good impression of things like hyenas.
Originally, judging from Chu Ye's current role, he was a lion. There are endless grievances and hatreds between hyenas and lions.
The reason why the hyena is called the second brother of Africa means that there must be a story between it and the lion brother. Without a story, hyenas wouldn’t be called Africa’s second brother.
Chu Ye looked at the group of hyenas in the north of the territory, and he had a bad feeling. Because these notorious guys always like to go against lions.
Although everyone still calls the hyena the second brother of Africa and the lion the king of the grassland.
But this is just a division of human beings according to their own likes and dislikes. Also, it feels like lions are bigger and hyenas are smaller. So, the lion is the eldest brother and the hyena is the second brother.
This statement obviously makes no sense. The animals on the savannah are different from the animals in the mountains and forests.
Most of the animals in the mountains and forests live alone. Most of the animals on the prairie live in groups. For animals that live alone, the size of the individual determines its status in the mountain forest.
Just like a tiger, the undoubted king of the forest. Because no predators can compete with them.
But this is not the case on the prairie. This is the world of social animals. Almost all animals live in groups.
Once animals live in groups, they are similar to human society.
The strength of a group of animals often depends on their total number, not the strength of individual animals.
Although hyenas are far inferior to lions in size. But they are absolutely social animals, and a single hyena cannot survive on the savannah.
The reason why hyenas can compete with lions is because they have an absolute advantage in numbers. How could a hyena defeat a lion if fought alone?
But no matter what, there is a lot of hatred between hyenas and lions. Lions allow many animals other than their own species to roam their territory. But hyenas are never allowed to roam their territory.
