The city gate was opened, Shang Fu drove into the city, and the army camped outside the city, waiting for them to come out. Shang Fu stopped his chariot at the foot of Langya Mountain, got off the chariot and walked up the mountain. All the disciples came forward and said, "Shang Fu, you are back." Shang Fu looked around, but did not see Ziwen. He looked at Zi Zheng and said, "Senior brother Zizheng, why don't you see senior brother Ziwen? Senior brother Ziwen... What's wrong?" At that time, Shang Fu was still guessing that something must have happened to Ziwen. Zizheng said hesitantly again: "Senior Brother Ziwen, it, it..." Then he looked at the other senior brothers and fellow disciples around him. One of the disciples lowered his head and said, "Senior Brother Ziwen, he has passed away from illness." Shang Fu remained stunned. He stood there with dull eyes and no expression on his face. After a long time, he asked again: "How is sir?" Ziwen was Xiao Yi's most beloved disciple, and Ziwen's death was a big blow to Xiao Yi. Zizheng said very sadly: "Sir, he cried and fainted several times because of Ziwen. Now he is very weak and needs to rest." Shang Fu immediately said: "Quickly, take me to see you. I want to see you." gentlemen."
These disciples took Shang Fu into the thatched house where Xiao Yi lived. Shang Fu ran directly to Xiao Yi's house and stood at the door of the thatched house. In front of him, Xiao Yi was lying on the bed. At this time, the little ant was already as skinny as a stick due to hunger. It was still snowing heavily outside, and the little ant had only one leaf to wrap itself around. Shang Fu walked up slowly and stood in front of Xiao Yi's hospital bed, with a tear falling from his eyes. He knelt down and held its red hand, which was cold and red, and said: "Sir, you have suffered." Then he buried his head in tears and looked at Xiao Yi, who was lying on the hospital bed, said: "Sir, the disciple is back." Zi Zheng walked up slowly, stood behind Shang Fu, stretched out his hand and patted Shang Fu on the shoulder, and said: "Junior brother Shang Fu, Sir, it will be fine. It will definitely survive." Shang Fu looked up at Zi Zheng who was standing behind him and said, "Senior Brother Zizheng, where is Senior Brother Ziwen buried?" Zi Zheng said, "Senior Brother Shang Fu, I will take you there. Go see Ziwen." Shang Fu stood up and retreated in front of the door, bowed and bowed, and then exited.
Zi Zheng and Shang Fu were walking towards the top of Langya Mountain. Shang Fu stood in front of Ziwen's grave, hurriedly ran forward and called out: "Senior Brother Ziwen." Kneeling in front of Ziwen's grave, he did not expect that Ziwen was buried in such a hasty manner after his death. He felt heartbroken and said: "Senior brother Ziwen, you have been poor all your life but never complained. Maybe that's how you live in poverty. I didn't expect that you were still such a careless person when you passed away. You make my brother so heartbroken!" Confucianism The emphasis is on a rich burial, with all the funeral rituals complete. He looked at Zizheng standing behind him and said, "Senior brother Ziwen was poor all his life, but we couldn't prepare anything for him? He was so shabby when he left." He summoned his brothers and sisters to dig the grave and dig out Ziwen's body. Seeing that Ziwen's body was only wrapped in a mat, he was amazed. Kneeling down and looking at Ziwen's body, tears kept falling and he shouted: "Senior Brother Ziwen!"
The disciples carried Ziwen's body back, lay it down on the couch, and covered it with a white cloth. There were white cloths hanging in front of the couch. Shang Fu drove out of the city in white. General Qu Zhi looked at Shang Fu, drove up and asked, "How is your husband? Is your husband already... already..." Shang Fu looked at General Qu Zhi and said "General, senior brother Ziwen is gone. My husband is also ill and is in a coma." Qu Zhi said, "I heard in Chu that Ziwen was intelligent and eager to learn. Your husband thinks highly of him." It. Ziwen's death must have been a big blow to your husband." Shang Fu just nodded silently. General Qu Zhi said very sadly: "My condolences." After a while, General Qu Zhi said again: "Ziwen and your husband are great sages of Zhao State. We are willing to escort Ziwen's body back to his hometown for burial." Shang Fu After getting off the car, he bowed and said, "Thank you, general." Then General Qu Zhi changed into linen clothes and used a rosewood coffin.
Xiao Yi dragged the sick body out, stood in front of Ziwen's body, and began to cry bitterly. Zizheng stepped forward to comfort him and said, "Sir." Shang Fu pulled Zizheng away and stood behind Xiao Yi. The little ant looked at Ziwen's body. Its body was twitching constantly and said: "Ziwen treats me like a father, but I can't treat him like a son. This is not what I mean. It's my disciples." How to do it like this." Shang Fu was a little puzzled and stepped forward and asked: "Sir, senior brother Ziwen has been poor all his life. I just don't want to be so shabby when senior brother leaves." Xiao Yi said: "What do you think? Very good, the heart of condolences lies in sincerity. Ziwen is poor, so he should do what he can. Ziwen was poor and simple during his lifetime, and he always followed etiquette. Such a rich burial goes against his original intention." Shang Fu knelt down and said: "Sir, The disciple has realized his mistake." The little ant said, "You all should go out." Its disciples were all standing outside the door.
Xiao Yi stood in front of Ziwen's body, slowly wiping his body, recalling the first time he met Ziwen at the Mountain Temple in Zhangshui. At that time, Ziwen and Zi were members of the Mountain Temple. Beggars, recalling that they danced happily in front of the fire, that was when Ziwen was happiest. Xiao Yi smiled with tears in his eyes while wiping Zi Wen's body. The past memories of Zi Wen appeared in his mind one after another. After Zi Wen became a disciple of Xiao Yi, he and Zizheng left Jinyang. When he returned, some officials of the State of Zhao were impressed by his talent and recommended him to serve as an official. However, Ziwen refused because he was not talented enough to govern a country. Xiao Yi faced Ziwen and said, "Ziwen, come here." Ziwen stepped forward and saluted, "Sir." Xiao Yi asked, "Ziwen, you live a poor and humble life, why don't you become an official? Ziwen replied: "Sir, I have fifty acres of land outside the city, enough to supply thick porridge, and ten acres of land in the city, enough to wear silk and linen, and play the piano to entertain myself, so sir's principles are enough for me." Happiness, this is the reason why Ziwen does not want to be an official." Xiao Yi said happily: "Okay! I heard that a contented insect does not make himself tired of profit and salary; a self-satisfied insect does not worry about losses; A worm with inner cultivation will not feel ashamed if he does not have an official position.”
One day, Zi Wen asked Xiao Yi: "Sir, what is benevolence?" Xiao Yi replied: "I must do it according to the requirements of etiquette, restrain myself and return to etiquette, so that the world can be benevolent. It is up to you to cultivate benevolence." Wen asked again: "What is the way to practice benevolence?" Xiao Yi answered it like this, saying: "Once Master Yan Hui, a disciple of Master, asked Master the same question, and Master replied like this, it is disrespectful. Don’t look, don’t hear if it’s not polite, don’t say anything if it’s not polite, don’t move if it’s not polite.” Then Xiao Yi said: “I can sum up this sentence like this, don’t see if it’s not polite, it will be tempting if you look at it, don’t listen if it’s not polite, it will only disturb your heart. Don't say anything that is not polite, for your words will lead to humiliation. Don't do anything that is not polite, for if you do anything, it will not be a blessing." Ziwen said: "Although I am not smart, I will do what you say."
Xiao Yi lifted up Ziwen's body, combed its messy hair, and tied it into a high bun. Then he slowly laid down with Ziwen's body and covered it with a white cloth. At this time, Ziwen seemed to be sleeping. The same thing happened. Light an ever-burning lamp in the middle of the couch, surrounded by candlelight. At midnight, Ziwen's body was placed in a coffin and a mourning hall was set up in front of the thatched cottage. General Qu Zhi and the generals guarding Langya City came to worship. Xiao Yi sat beside the coffin in the mourning hall, meditating quietly. The next day, before dawn, Xiao Yi stood in front of the spirit and threw down the tiles. The soldiers lifted the coffin out of the thatched cottage, and Zizheng and Shang Fu protected the spirit. At this time, there was sporadic light rain in the sky, mixed with snowflakes, and layers of darkness pressed down. They walked slowly down Langya Mountain in linen clothes. Xiao Yi followed behind, crying uncontrollably and shouting: "Ziwen, Ziwen!" He was supported by the disciples and walked slowly behind the coffin. In the city, the armor soldiers carried Ziwen's coffin into the car, left Langya City, and slowly left the territory of Qi State and headed for the territory of Zhao State.
Some soldiers on Zhangshui City looked from a distance and saw a funeral procession approaching. Regardless of the reason, they opened the city gate and lowered the drawbridge. They slowly entered Zhangshui City and buried Ziwen on the bank of Zhangshui. They could look at the scenery of Wei State. This was the return of fallen leaves to their roots. Xiao Yi and his disciples stood in front of Ziwen's tomb, bowed their hands in front of him and said goodbye to him, and went to Chu State with General Qu Zhi.
The little ant fell ill after arriving in Chu State and saw no one. The King of Chu was sitting in the main hall, but Xiao Yi was standing under the court hall, asking: "Why don't you see Mr. going to court?" A minister stood up and said: "I heard that Mr. is sick, so I'm afraid he won't be able to go to court." The King of Chu looked at He said to Ling Yin: "Ling Yin, you are the one who advised Mr. Wu Chong to rescue him, so you should go and invite him." Ling Yin stood up and said, "I will go and invite you now." Then he left the court.
Ling Yin went to the thatched cottage where Xiao Yi lived. Zizheng stepped forward to stop Ling Yin and said, "Who are you? Why do you want to see my husband?" Shang Fu stepped forward and said, "Senior brother Zizheng, please don't be rude." He stood in front of Ling Yin and kowtowed, saying: "Ling Yin is a big bug." Ling Yin said: "I am ordered by the king to welcome you to the court." Shang Fu said very politely: "My husband is sick and it is inconvenient to see guests. Please forgive me."
Ling Yin had no choice but to return and stood helplessly in the court hall. The King of Chu stood up and said, "What? Sir, you didn't invite me." Ling Yin just nodded silently, and the King of Chu said angrily: "He is so arrogant. He refuses to show up because of his illness. What does he mean?" General Qu Zhi He stood up and said: "Your Majesty, Sir, it is understandable that he has lost his most beloved disciple. He is ill. Your Majesty, you should put down your arrogance and go to the thatched cottage to visit and express your condolences, and show your kindness to the virtuous and corporal." King Chu said reluctantly: " What? Does it still need to be invited by Widow Chong in person? Don’t forget that it came to the Chu Kingdom for refuge. Does it still need to be invited by Widow Chong in person?" Qu Zhi asked: "What the king needs is the support of the people or his own nobility. Where is your identity?" King Chu replied: "Widow Chong is the king of Chu, and of course it is popular among the people." Qu said bluntly: "Xiao Yi is the Chong Saint in the hearts of the people, and he is highly respected. If the king personally goes to the thatched cottage where Xiao Yi lives, By paying a visit, you can get back the virtues of the king's courteous and virtuous corporal, and you can win the hearts and minds of the people in the world. Why not?" King Chu thought that what Qu Zhi said was very reasonable and said: "Okay, let's go to Mr. Wu Chong's house now. See you sir at the thatched cottage."
The King of Chu then walked out of the Chu Palace, got on the chariot and ran towards Xiao Yi's thatched cottage. The king's chariot went to the neighborhood, attracting people to come and watch. The King of Chu stepped out of the chariot, faced the people who were watching and waved to them. These people knelt down and shouted: "Your Majesty." The King of Chu said happily: "All of you, get up." I didn't expect that it would have such high prestige in the hearts of these people.
Go to the gate of Xiaoyi's thatched cottage, then get off the car and enter the house. All the disciples came forward and knelt down to greet you, "Your Majesty." King Chu said, "All of you, please get up." King Chu looked around and said, "Where is your husband? Quickly take the widow to see your husband." Zizheng He stood up and bowed and said: "Your Majesty, please follow me." Before King Chu entered Xiao Yi's bedroom, King Chu's voice came, calling: "Sir, Sir, Widow Chong is here to see you." When the ant heard the voice of King Chu, he immediately got up and sat down on the bed, knelt in front of the bed and looked out the bedroom door. Seeing King Chu swaggering in, he held his hands in front of him and bowed, "Your Majesty." King Chu immediately helped Xiao Yi up and said, "Sir, you are seriously ill, how can you be so generous? Sir, please get up quickly." The little ant looked at the King of Chu who was standing in front of him and said: "The king is involved in state affairs, but he can also come to visit his subordinates. This is not in line with etiquette." The king of Chu said: "I love and cherish talents. I heard that your husband is seriously ill. Get up, can you not come to visit?" Then he helped Xiao Yi lie down on the couch and said, "Sir, you can recuperate as much as you can. If you get better, you can just send your disciples to inform Wu Chong." Xiao Yi sat up. , cupping his hands in front of him and saying: "Thank you, Your Majesty, for your love."
