Looking back on the past, how many heroes conquered the north and south to unify the country and became famous for generations. However, God always likes to make fun of people. There are two such promising kings in history. They worked hard to govern and spread their wisdom far and wide. They once wanted to reunite the broken mountains and rivers, but they died young on the eve of victory. It is a pity. If God gives them a few more years, history may be rewritten.
These two emperors were Yuwen Yong, Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, and Chai Rong, Shizong of the Later Zhou Dynasty during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. As we all know, these two periods were the most chaotic periods in China. All heroes rise together, and barbarians disrupt China. The people of China are in dire straits, and they urgently need a capable king to unify the country and stabilize the country. Next, the Master will reveal to everyone the achievements of these two emperors at that time.
First, let’s talk about Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Yuwen Yong (543-578). This person is a member of the Xianbei ethnic group and was born in the western area of Wuchuan in present-day Inner Mongolia. The important thing is that he has a good father, Yuwentai, Emperor Wen of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. Yu Wenyong has been loved by Yu Wentai since he was a child, and he often said to others: "He is the one who succeeds in my ambition." It can be seen that Yu Wenyong has shown extraordinary magnanimity since he was a child.
After Yuwentai's death, the power of the Northern Zhou Dynasty fell into the hands of the powerful minister Yuwenhu. After Yu Wenyong ascended the throne, he always hated Yu Wenhu who brought disaster to the country and the people. Later, Yuwen Yong used a trick to get rid of Yuwen Hu, and then took power personally.
During his reign, Yu Wenyong advocated learning from the Central Plains culture and completely abolished some of Xianbei's old customs. He lived a frugal life, rectified the administration of officials, and cared about the sufferings of the people. It made the politics of the Northern Zhou Dynasty clear, the people's lives stable, and the country strong. It is worth mentioning that Yu Wenyong was diligent in political affairs, able to share joys and sorrows with the soldiers, and was not lewd. He only had more than 10 concubines in the harem.
In 575, Yu Wenyong led his army to destroy the Northern Qi Dynasty, integrating the entire north and completing partial unification. In 578, when Yu Wenyong once again led his army in five groups to attack the Turks, he fell ill before setting off. This disease never recovered.
Unfortunately, just when his desire to complete national reunification was just around the corner, he unfortunately died young at the age of 36.
What I want to talk about more is Chai Rong, Shizong of the Later Zhou Dynasty (October 27, 921 - July 27, 959). Friends who don't know much about Chai Rong must be more familiar with his descendant, Xiao Xuanfeng Chai Jin in "Water Margin". Chai Jin had unparalleled privileges in the Song Dynasty: even if he rebelled, the Song Dynasty would be lenient. All this is related to his ancestor Chai Rong.
Chai Rong, the emperor of the Later Zhou Dynasty, only reigned for six years. But in these short six years, he has achieved great results. Internally, he reorganized the army and trained soldiers, eliminated the redundant and weak, recruited exiles, and reduced taxes, which made the politics of the later Zhou Dynasty clear and the people prosperous, and the Central Plains began to recover.
Externally, he conquered the south and north, defeated Hou Shu in the west, and captured the four states of Qin, Feng, Cheng, and Jie; he destroyed the Southern Tang in the south and captured 14 states in Jiangbei and Huainan; he defeated Khitan in the north and conquered two states and three passes. During his tenure, he drove out the barbarians and recovered all the lost territory of the Han family, so he was known as the greatest emperor in the history of the Han people.
However, God played a big joke on Chai Rong. When he was discussing taking over the sixteen states of Youzhou, he suddenly fell ill, and he never recovered from the illness. Unfortunately, he died young at the age of 39.

[Emperor Chongzhen’s AFK System] []
Later, Zhao Kuangyin, the general of the Later Zhou Dynasty, used a trick of wearing a yellow robe and taking away the power of the Later Zhou Dynasty. Subsequently, it took less than twenty years to complete the unification of China. This speed is unique in history. In fact, after Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin took over the Zhou Dynasty, its economic and military strength were several times stronger than those of the other ten countries.
It is equivalent to saying that Chai Rong fried a plate of good food, but Zhao Kuangyin ate it. To say that the real founding emperor of the Song Dynasty was Chai Rong. Of course, judging from the treatment of the descendants of the Chai family in the Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin has always felt guilty.
During their reign, these two emperors worked hard to govern, and the country was strong and the horses were strong, and the unification of the country was just around the corner. But history doesn’t seem to be very fond of them, which is really a pity. If God gives them a few more years, it is not impossible to unify China. >
