Moreover, I feel that finishing the book will be of great benefit to my creation, so I choose to stick to it.
I slowly finished writing one million words. Although the result was ridiculous, I had an intangible gain.
After this book was recommended, its sales performance was not good either. Because I was worried about wasting time and was a little anxious to get good results, I also considered opening a new book.
But during this period, I felt the love and regret of some readers. This made me realize that opening or closing a book is actually not the author's business alone.
It would be too selfish to decide based entirely on current results and completely ignore the readers who love this book.
So I continued writing with the idea of practicing writing and exploring, and it was loved by more readers.
Among the numerous works, the current performance of "Secretly Modern" is still not good. But my mentality has changed: nothing can be achieved overnight. I realized that we can’t be anxious or blindly “achievement-based”—because we don’t know what will happen in the future.
Once the setting and writing started, I fell in love with this modern era world. In an era of booming science and technology, neon lights are shrouded in mysterious fog, and conflicts between human rights and divine rights are undercurrents around the world. Seekers, Daedalus Foundation, Candlelight Reading Club, Holy Saints, Agents of Evil God, Legendary Inventors...
The stage and outline of this story have emerged in my mind, and I am very happy in the process of writing.
Apart from that, I can also get your love, which is enough.
I know I have the ability to finish writing it - this is the confidence brought by the previous "intangible gains" (haha). Even if real life challenges me, I am confident that I can find time and energy to continue creating. So this book will most likely be complete, so don’t worry.
However, I have requirements for conception and writing, so I cannot code like Mr. Sean, and my hand speed can only be maintained within a certain range. In the future, I may update twice a day, but right now I am still determining my rhythm based on life, so I can’t guarantee it, but I will try my best.
In addition, I have been thinking about a concept recently called "reading slowdown". We used to read books at a glance, not ten lines at a time, but those books left a deeper impression on me than books with ten lines at a glance, so I think that one day in the future, online articles will return to a reasonable speed on the basis of certain update guarantees. Reading and writing, because although the story will produce a sense of pleasure, the words themselves will also bring beauty. And I know both are good things. (It’s just a thought, not an excuse to update once a day, hahaha)
So I am committed to designing the plot, to being precise in the writing, and to returning the description to a little bit of the beauty of words... It’s not that I can’t beat the word count, I’m just looking for another possibility based on my own preferences.
I don't know if my idea is right, but at least this is what I want to do with this book.
