Looking at this venerable man, even if he is standing not far away from me, even if the two of them are not old friends, they know that they have known each other for many years. Especially after listening to the words of this venerable person, others were already in awe. Shen Yanran stood there, frowning for the first time.
Although I have interacted with this venerable man on and off over the years, I have rarely met him. The master who she studied in Tianzi Zaishan back then had indeed met Monk Muping face to face, and even had some rapport with him from time to time. If you want to know the truth in the world, the only way is to cultivate Buddha!
Xiaoyao Sect was born in an authentic Taoist sect, otherwise it would not be unique in the Tang Dynasty today. Taoism is now mainly located in Maoshan, Longhushan and Gezaoshan in the Central Plains.
There are many branches and leaves in Maoshan, but most of them are Shangqingmen and Xiamen. No one keeps statistics on how many branch lineages there are under the Shangqing sect. The Zhang family of Longhu Mountain is the direct descendant of the sect, and the whole world is one family. The primitive religion of Gezaoshan is inherited from Ge Xuan, the founder of the Taoist sect Lingbao. Since Ge Hong, it has been carried forward and the famous Ge Family Taoism has been formed.
At this time, the Gejiadao was far inferior to the Shangqing and Zhengyi sects. All it was famous for was that the Divine Medicine Sect in the Southern Tang Dynasty was said to have completely inherited the essential techniques of Ge Zaoshan. Shen Yanran didn't care about this, because strictly speaking, the Xiaoyao sect was originally a member of the Shangqing sect.
Although I don’t know how many generations it has been derived from, it has already been somewhat different from the righteous way. But there is no doubt that the Xiaoyao Sect comes from an authentic Taoist sect!
However, there are many sects of Buddhism in the world today. Since the Han Dynasty, to the Tang Dynasty, and now since Zhu Liang, eight major sects have been formed.

Due to the differences in each recipient's level of understanding and xinxing, as well as the different eras in which sects exist and the different living environments, naturally the views on Buddhism are completely different from person to person, resulting in today's situation.
Later generations have a verse to summarize the differences between Buddhist sects: rich in secrets, Zen in poverty, convenience and purity, only consciousness, patience, auspiciousness and emptiness. The traditional Huayan discipline of cultivating the body and the principles of moral organization of the Tiantai Sect!
Shen Yanran is naturally well aware of the divisions and establishment of Buddhist sects. Shen Yanran has also visited the current leader of Buddhism, Master Yuan of Berlin Temple in Zhaozhou's "Ancient Buddhist Dojo". There are many eminent monks and great virtues in the world, but now only Zen Buddhism can still prosper.
In Shen Yanran's view, although Buddhism does not hinder external things, it still needs to spread the Dharma in the human world. The Zen sect was spread to the south, and eminent monks emerged in large numbers in the late Tang Dynasty. Master Wen Yan of Yunmen in Shaozhou was revered as Kuangzhen Arhat by Emperor Gaozu of the Southern Han Dynasty.
Master Wenyan and his master, Master Zhisheng Luohan Rumin, are collectively known as the two sages of Zen. He became one of the most famous great masters in Buddhism since the late Tang Dynasty. Master Wenyan first visited Muzhou Daozong Master, who was revered as Chen Zunsu’s Daozong Master. He studied under Master Huangpi Xiyun under Ma Zudao, Nanyue, and was the true mantle of Southern Zen Buddhism.
Master Daozong is an eminent monk who has attained enlightenment, and many Buddhist verses have been passed down to the world. Master Wen Yan attained enlightenment under him and was regarded as a Buddhist wizard by him. Later, he recommended him to see Master Xuefeng Yicun. This is another great man in the history of Buddhism who deserves to be written about.
Master Wen Yan attained enlightenment under Master Daozong, but gained enlightenment under Master Xuefeng Yicun, and then established the Yunmen Sect. Master Ru Min was also a rare great sage at this time, and another member of the Southern Zen sect.
Master Changqing Da'an, a disciple of Baizhang Huaihai, practiced Buddhism in Lingnan for more than 40 years. He was famous for his solitary practice in Buddhism. He was the most respected by the local scholars and officials in Lingnan. The Han Dynasty in Lingnan revered him as the Knowledgeable Saint Arhat. Master Ru Min passed away not long after, and Master Wen Yan naturally inherited the mantle.
Emperor Gaozu of the Southern Han Dynasty heard of his famous name, admired Dao Xing and asked the master to teach him. Master Wen Yan has since spread his teachings in Lingnan. Zen Buddhism has always been poor. Most practitioners use thatch roofs as roofs and live in stone caves to practice Buddhism. In the name of the royal family, Emperor Gaozu built a Zen monastery for Master Wen Yan and personally gave him a plaque: "Guangtai Zen Monastery"!
Master Wen Yan founded the Yunmen Sect and established the magnificent Xuefeng Zen method, which was highly praised by Buddhists all over the world. The renovation and restoration of Nanhua Temple, the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism, made the Central Plains look at Lingnan with new eyes. Since then, the concept of Lingnan as a foreign land has changed. He was good at teaching the Dharma. In the seventh year of Emperor Qianhe's reign in the Southern Han Dynasty, he was enthroned and placed a golden body in a pagoda in Guangtai Zen Temple.
Emperor Liu Sheng, the Zhongzong of Lingnan, particularly respected the master's lineage of Buddhism. The imperial court named the pagoda courtyard "Ruiyun" and the pagoda "Baoguang". There are tens of thousands of disciples under the master. It is said that there are as many as seventy-seven disciples among whom the disciples have the opportunity to pass down their quotations, which has become a legend in Buddhism.
Therefore, there is still a saying in the world: Emperor Yunmen is General Linji.
When Shen Yanran retired to seclusion, Master Wen Yan's reputation had just begun to rise, so naturally he didn't have much of an impression. Although I felt something in my heart, I didn't pay much attention to it. Although he later returned to Tianzizi Mountain to live in seclusion, it was for some reason that he had a rift with the Xiaoyao sect, which belonged to the same lineage. But Shen Yanran is not a person who is willing to be lonely, so she will naturally inquire for information.
I have also heard the names of many eminent Buddhist monks and great virtues, among which the one in front of me, the Muping Arhat of Shengyuan Temple, is naturally the most miraculous. Because it is said that Muping Arhat can make the difference between life and death, and he is even a guest of the Emperor of the Tang Palace!
Shen Yanran's original intention was to visit this eminent monk when she entered Jinling again. Unfortunately, when they arrived at Jinling again, Bian Hao had already passed away and Monk Mu Ping came uninvited. Shen Yanran was naturally surprised in her heart.
Seeing the mysterious feeling exuding from his whole body, and the hazy and unreal feeling in his whole body, my recognition of the master in my heart increased even more.
