Along the way, we saw many nameless islands on the lake from a distance. However, although these islands are still covered with green trees, various water villages have been built, and there are still a few people parked on the edge of the islands. warship.
These small islands usually vary in size and height. During the season when water is abundant, many small islands are submerged under the lake. In the dry season, most of these islands may reveal most of their shape.
Therefore, the Southern Tang Dynasty generally chose to build water fortresses in May and June when the water was plentiful. Now is the time when Poyang Lake has the most abundant water resources. These water fortresses that have been built long ago are parallel to the lake, just like wooden warships naturally floating on Poyang Lake. They look particularly majestic, eye-catching and shocking.
The people I see along the way who often go back and forth to Poyang Lake will not be surprised. They will proudly introduce it to the people around them to show off their knowledge and experience. People who have never seen it will naturally be amazed by the atmosphere and majesty of these water villages, and listen to the stories of these water villages introduced by people around them with relish.
Xiao Jiulang sat next to Su Hou. He seemed to feel that this uncle was not difficult to get along with. Not only did he take out a wine gourd, but he also let himself take the gourd from his hand from time to time and take a sip at the mouth of the gourd. Xiao Jiulang originally wanted to refuse Su Hou's kindness as he had just entered the school, but when he saw Su Hou's indifferent eyes, he had no intention of rejecting Su Hou. While listening to a few people around him talking about the water village, he took a sip from time to time and seemed to be very absorbed in listening.
They were two or three scholars. It was said that they were going to Jinling City to take the exam. They were afraid of missing the autumn exam, and maybe their families were not too poor, so they took this merchant ship and rushed to Jinling City. They were listening to the words of a man in the government. The man surnamed Yan was said to be a clerk in Raozhou, and he was going to Jinling City on business.
Xiao Jiulang didn't want to hear it at first, but the man named Yan was more approachable, and he was also very talkative. He heard that the three scholars were going to Jinling City to take the exam, so he took the initiative to go over and chat with the scholars. After the three scholars heard about the identity of the man named Yan, they first complimented him politely, and then they became even more respectful when they saw that there was a police officer following him.

Even today, the Nanyue Sect still exists in the world. They established Nanyue Hengshan Tianzhu Peak, but they rarely appear in the world. However, they are a major Buddhist sect as famous as the Northern Shaolin Temple.
The most famous one under him is Master Daoyi, who is known as Mazu, because the Nanyue Sect is truly famous all over the world because of Mazu Daoyi. Mazu initially practiced the Gradual Enlightenment method of the Northern Zen School. After being enlightened by Master Huairang, he became the most famous disciple of the master.
Because at that time the Sixth Patriarch’s lineage was distributed to several disciples. As the first disciple, Qingyuan Xingsi actually obtained the essence of the Sixth Patriarch. In fact, the reputation of the Seventh Patriarch was inherited by the Shenhui of Heze Temple. He founded the famous Heze Sect, and he and Nanyang Huizhong took the upper hand in the North Zen sect.
However, the disciples and legal system of Shenhui were actually inferior to Mazu, so some people called Dao Yi the Eighth Patriarch. In the hands of Emperor Jingzong, he publicly revered Huairang, the master of Master Mazu Daoyi, as the Seventh Patriarch of Nanchan.
Mazu didn't take this kind of appellation seriously, and he never distinguished himself from his fellow disciples. Because his family name was Ma, people laughed at him and called him Mazu. Later, when the Nanyue Sect respected Master Huairang as the founder of the sect, they also respected him as the founder of the Nanyue Sect and considered him to be the actual first generation founder of the Nanyue Sect.
So in fact, from the time of Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch, to the time of Nanyue Mazu Daoyi, Nanchan was once again divided into another lineage that is different from the Sixth Patriarch's lineage. Although Mazu later left Hengshan and went to Jiangxi to preach and practice Dharma, since then people have called Mazu's lineage the Nanyue Sect!
The greatest achievement of Master Daoyi is that he is the only master in the history of Buddhism who is outside the Buddhist lineage and is called the ancestor. Of course, some people think that he should be the eighth ancestor of Zen.
But it was because of Mazu's appearance that later generations have reached the present day, and five sects and six sects of Zen have been formed, which is what later generations call one leaf and five flowers.
The most famous one under Mazu is Master Huaihai, who created Hongzhou Zen. The name of Baizhang Huaihai is known all over the world. The most famous masters under Master Huaihai are Huangbo Xiyun and Weishan Lingyou.
Later generations highly respected Mazu, not only because he had magnified the Nanyue line, but he was also the most famous successor among the disciples of the Sixth Patriarch, and he had magnified the Nanyue line of Nanchan. What's more, when it was passed down to Huang Bo Xiyun, his disciple Master Yixuan returned to the Central Plains, restored the former glory of the Heze Sect, and founded the Linji Sect in Zhenzhou, Hebei Province, the Central Plains.
Master Weishan Lingyou, whose Dharma is famous far away, founded the Weiyang Sect with his disciple Yangshan Huiji. One sect inherited the mantle, and Mazu's disciples actually created two sects, which shows the power of the southern Zen sect. In the history of Chinese Buddhist faith tradition, it is an unparalleled event and legend. If Mazu's Nanyue Sect is included, there are three sects under the Sixth Patriarch.
Among the disciples of Master Qingyuan Xingsi, Master Shitou Xiqian was the most famous. He lived to be ninety-one years old and was a legend in this era. Although he also had many disciples, he was not as famous as his peers. Only later did it reach the Liangji generation in Dongshan, which was already in crisis at the end of the Tang Dynasty. Cao Shan Benji, a famous disciple of Master Liangji, founded the famous Caodong Sect.
Another famous disciple of Master Xiqian is Master Tianhuang Daowu. He passed it on several times to Master Yicun of Xuefeng in the late Tang Dynasty. Master Yicun passed it on to Master Bei, a contemporary highly virtuous teacher, and then to Master Wenyi, a famous contemporary master. Master Wenyi founded the Fayan Sect at Qingliang Temple in Jinling and became the national master of the Tang Dynasty in Jinling.
Of course, what is worth questioning for future generations is that Master Yicun also had a famous master disciple who was the same generation as Master Shibei. This disciple who participated in the practice was Master Wen Yan who lived in Yunmen Mountain, Shaozhou. He later founded the Yunmen Sect and was Chengyuan's master.
Master Wen Yan has studied many things, but the world has always believed that he belongs to the Mazu lineage. But what he taught in Yunmen has always been Xuefeng's method of righteousness. Why do future generations have doubts?
Because Master Daozong was a direct descendant of Mazu, and Master Wenyan became enlightened in his hands. And what Master Wenyan finally inherited in Yunmen Mountain was the mantle of Master Rumin, the Knowledgeable Saint Arhat. And Master Rumin is also an out-and-out member of Mazu's lineage, and is a disciple of Master Da'an, Mazu's second disciple.
He was tasked with passing on the Dharma lineage of two major disciples under Mazu, but the last one passed down by Master Wen Yan was the Dharma lineage of Master Xuefeng Yicun, a disciple of Xi Qian’s sect in Qingyuan. It really baffled the world and became the ancestral hallmark of the Zen sect. A public case.
