"In order to find this missing or left-over one, they have gone through hundreds and thousands of hardships along the way. How many people just want to find this lost one, hoping to find the road to perfection and achieve the supreme way of heaven." Even Lian Sheng Yan Du answered softly and suddenly looked at Liu Jixing quietly, as if he wanted to see something!
"There are three thousand avenues, and I only want one! The avenue is invisible, and I only want one!" Gao Yanghui also muttered softly, as if he understood something!
Road to Road, very Avenue!
Famous, very famous!
This is a summary of Lao Tzu's "Tao Te Ching". Ordinary people may look at it and feel that it is an ordinary Taoist scripture, but if a cultivator looks at it, it is a treasure of cultivation.
Although I don't know where the "Dadong Sutra" came from, but it can cause great disasters for decades, or it can make people in the world of cultivation flock to it, it must not be an ordinary vulgar thing!
As the most famous disciple of Zen sect Yunmen, Chengyuan actually inherited the mantle of Master Wenyan. However, with his high moral understanding of Buddhism, he suddenly recited the famous Taoist scriptures. It was obvious that he was not simply practicing Buddhist secrets!
At that time, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, Master Huineng, received the mantle of Zen True Transmission from the Fifth Patriarch Hongren. Because he was ostracized by his fellow disciples, he had to disguise himself and fled to Lingnan, hiding for more than ten years before he came out to preach again.
How many people in the world can achieve this kind of tenacity and perseverance? Of course, it only takes a thousand years for a genius like the Sixth Patriarch to emerge.
Because of the exclusion from fellow sects, the Zen sect has since been divided into two sects, the northern and the southern sects! Because of the difference between the two presidents, it has affected the world for more than a thousand years!
Bei Chan, who had lived in the Central Plains for a long time, had traces of his enlightenment, and his dharma lineage had slowly withered since the middle of the Tang Dynasty!
And Nan Zen, who escaped to the south, suddenly realized the important meaning. The world calls it the Zen of Life. Everyone can become a Buddha!
Buddhism opened the door to convenience. Since then, the Zen sect has flourished in the south because of the convenience of spread of Southern Zen, and there is no high or low threshold. It has been based in the south!
Since the middle of the Tang Dynasty, Nanchan has been brewing in Lingnan for decades, and gradually developed from Lingbei to Chu and Jiangxi. One can imagine the hardships Nanchan disciples have put in.
Because of the vigorous preaching and propagation of the Dharma by the disciples of the Sixth Patriarch, Nanchan gradually moved towards the Central Plains.
And because of the preaching work of the Nanchan Zen School, eminent monks from Jiangxi and Chu areas had the power to spread the Dharma. Believers and converts everywhere gradually followed him and rushed to study the Dharma. Because there were so many believers studying in two places, a proper term was later formed, Jianghu!
In the past, the green forests, cottages, rangers, and swordsmen all over the Central Plains collectively referred to the experience of walking in the Central Plains as Green Forest Heroes.
Because of this blessing of the Zen sect, many people's believers are running around, so everyone calls this kind of going out to experience and study, also called entering the world!
The Sixth Patriarch later enthroned in Nanhua Temple in Shaozhou, Lingnan Province. Since then, Nanhua Temple has been called the Ancestral Court of Nanchan!
Now one of Chengyuan's senior brothers, Master Wenzhen, is the contemporary abbot of the ancestral court.
There are many disciples of the ancestral master, among whom the five most famous ones are recognized as Nanyue Huairang, Qingyuan Xingsi, Heze Shenhui, Nanyang Huizhong, and Yongjia Xuanjue.
After the Sixth Patriarch passed away, Master Huairang first left Lingnan and lived in Tianzhu Peak, Ancient Nanyue, Chu region, and lived in Prajna Temple.
Later, Prajna Temple was changed to Guanyin Temple, and the Sixth Patriarch practiced the enlightenment method, creating the famous Nanyue Sect in later generations. The Nanyue Sword Sect in the world today claims to be the master's lineage, but not many people in the world recognize it.
Later, in the early years of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty, the master passed away in Nanyue Prajna Temple. Later, Emperor Jingzong gave him the posthumous title of Zen Master Dahui, and the world called him the Seventh Patriarch of Zen Buddhism.
However, the Nanyue Sect still exists in the world today. They established Nanyue Hengshan Tianzhu Peak, but they rarely appear in the world. However, they are a major Buddhist sect as famous as the Northern Shaolin Temple. However, there are rumors that the real Hengshan Sect now has only one disciple in each generation, but it is famous in the world.
The most famous among the masters was Master Daoyi, who was later known as Mazu. The reason why Buddhism recognizes the Hengshan Sect is because the Nanyue Sect is truly famous all over the world, and it is because of this Mazu Daoyi.
Mazu was called the ancestor in later generations, so one can imagine his status in Buddhism. However, what he first practiced was the Gradual Enlightenment Method of the Northern School of Zen. After coming to Hengshan and being enlightened by Master Huairang, he became the most famous disciple of the master.
Because at that time the Sixth Patriarch’s lineage was distributed to several disciples.
As the first disciple of the Patriarch, Qingyuan Xingsi actually obtained the essence of the Sixth Patriarch’s teachings. The real reputation of the Seventh Patriarch was actually inherited by the Shenhui of Heze Temple. He not only founded the famous Heze Sect, but also competed with Master Huizhong of Nanyang and gained the upper hand in Beidi Zen Buddhism.
However, the disciples of Master Shenhui and the legal system were actually not as good as Hengshan Mazu. So some people called Dao Yi the Eighth Patriarch, and Master Huairang naturally became the Seventh Patriarch. In the hands of Emperor Jingzong, the world publicly revered Master Mazu Daoyi's master, Hengshan Huairang, as the Seventh Patriarch of Nanchan!
This kind of title can be said to have ulterior motives, but the Zen sect is free and easy, and no one comes out to openly question it!
However, Mazu himself naturally disapproved of such a title and never differentiated it from his fellow sect members. Because his family name is Ma, people laugh and call him Mazu. Later, when the Nanyue Sect respected Master Huairang as the founder of the sect, they also respected him as the founder of the Nanyue Sect and considered him to be the actual first generation founder of the Nanyue Sect.
So in fact, from the time of Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch, to the time of Nanyue Mazu Daoyi, Nanchan was once again divided into another lineage that is different from the Sixth Patriarch's lineage.
Although Mazu later left Hengshan and went to Jiangxi to preach and practice Dharma, since then people have called Mazu's lineage the Nanyue Sect!
The greatest achievement of Master Daoyi is that he is also the only master in the history of Buddhism who is outside the normal lineage and is called the ancestor by the world. Because his branch was excellent and dominated the Shenhui line, some people thought that he should be the eighth ancestor of Zen.
But it was because of Mazu's appearance that later generations divided the Zen sect. Nowadays, the world is divided, and people in the world have divided Zen sects into subdivisions. Five sects and six sects of descendants of Nanchan Sect have been formed in the north and south, which are what later generations call one leaf and five flowers!
Mazu had outstanding disciples, and of course the most famous among them was Master Huaihai, who created Hongzhou Zen!
The name of Baizhang Huaihai is known all over the world, and everyone in the world knows that he is the descendant of the eighth ancestor. And Master Huaihai is naturally extraordinary. The most famous among his disciples are Huangbo Xiyun and Weishan Lingyou.
Later generations highly respected Mazu, not only because he brought great success to the Nanyue line, but he was also the most famous successor among the disciples of the Sixth Patriarch. Moreover, it expanded the Nanyue line of Nanchan, making Nanchan from the Sixth Patriarch once again glorious.
What's more, when it was passed down to Huang Bo Xiyun, his disciple Master Yixuan returned to the Central Plains, restored the former glory of the Heze Sect, and founded the Linji Sect in Zhenzhou, Hebei Province, the Central Plains. Under a sect, the disciples have achieved extraordinary achievements one after another, and can establish a sect. You can imagine how outstanding the Sixth Patriarch was back then!
