One day, after the First Emperor finished reviewing the memorial, he summoned Zhao Gao to relieve his boredom and asked: "Which emperor do you think has the highest achievements since ancient times?"
Zhao Gao was so busy: "In terms of achievements, of course your Majesty is second to none! There is no one else in the world! Your Majesty's achievements are enough to tell the world, and your name will last forever!"
The First Emperor laughed and said, "I have worshiped the Ancestral Temple and the Queen Mother, but I have never heard of worshiping Heaven and Earth."
Seeing the First Emperor's interest, Zhao Gao replied seriously: "Since ancient times, the princes of the emperor have worshiped the ancestral temple, but are not qualified to worship the heaven and the earth. Only emperors who have created great achievements are qualified to worship the heaven and the earth!"
"How to worship heaven and earth?"
"To worship heaven and earth is to enshrine Mount Tai and worship Liangfu! Ancient sages, such as Wu Huai, Fu Xi, Shennong, Yan Emperor, Huang Emperor, Zhuan Xu, Emperor Ku, Yao, Shun, Yu, Tang, and Zhou Chengwang all once Go to Mount Tai to worship heaven and earth. Now that your Majesty’s achievements have already surpassed those of the sages, you should go to Mount Tai to worship!”
When the First Emperor heard what Zhao Gao said, he began to feel restless in his heart, and said: "In this case, I really should go to Fengchan Taishan!"
Zhao Gao further encouraged: "I have also heard that there are immortals in the sea of Qidi. If your majesty wants to patrol Qidi, please be sure to bring me with you. Maybe you can see the true appearance of the immortals! Only the emperor has such a true destiny. Gods will only appear when the emperor comes!"
The First Emperor laughed. Although he didn't care on the surface, he was deeply touched in his heart. As he grew older, he gradually felt that he was unable to do what he wanted. Immortality became one of his great wishes. Zhao Gao hit his sore spot again this time.
The First Emperor grew up in Zhaodi and later lived in Xianyang. He had never seen the sea and yearned for it very much. Asked: "Have you ever seen the sea?"
Zhao Gao replied: "I have only heard that people from all over the country say that the sea is blue and has endless blue waves. In the distance, the sea and the sky are connected together. There are gods living at the junction of the sea and the sky. The gods have the ability to live forever." medicine."
The two things that Zhao Gao said about enshrining Zen and seeking the elixir of immortality deeply moved the First Emperor, so the First Emperor decided to tour Qi.
With the experience of his first tour, this time he did not ask for the Prime Minister's opinion, but directly ordered the generals Wang Li, Wang Ben, Prime Ministers Wei Zhuang, Wang Wan, Qing Li Si, Wang Wu and others to patrol all over the country in early May. Along with the trip, Zhao Gao, the order of the CRRC Mansion, was still in charge of the chariot and horse ceremonial guard, accompanying him around. Important memorials must be sent to the First Emperor's residence for approval.
The First Emperor toured the counties eastward.
A month later, he arrived at Xue County in Lu. The county governor, county lieutenant, and county magistrate led hundreds of officials and more than 70 local Confucian scholars and doctors to come out of the county for hundreds of miles to greet him.
The First Emperor said: "I have heard that the land of Qilu is beautiful and full of miraculous craftsmanship. I came here this time to climb a mountain and look at the sea. Do you know of any good places to go?"
The county guard said: "In the land of Qilu, the mountains are none other than Mount Tai and Dongshan. Confucius said, 'Climb Dongshan and you will see less of Lu; climb Mount Tai and you will see less of the world.' It is said that you can talk to heaven on Mount Tai; the sea is represented by Zhifu and Langya. The best is that the blue waves roll over thousands of miles, and the people on the seaside often see the fairy mountains on the sea in Zhifu, disappearing and appearing, magical and unusual!"
The First Emperor was very happy after hearing this, so under the leadership of the county guard, a group of people climbed up Dongshan (also known as Zoyi Mountain) in a mighty manner. Looking from the top of the mountain, they could only see its structural layout, ups and downs, and different scenery as they moved. Looking back, the mountaineering team stretched for more than ten miles, like a long dragon, with colorful flags fluttering. It was so spectacular! The First Emperor said: "This place is indeed beautiful and full of beauty! Today's mountain climbing event should be regarded as a commemoration, and future generations can also look up to it!"
Li Sidao: "What your Majesty said is true. I request that a monument be engraved to commemorate the emperor's visit here!"
The First Emperor thought so, so after discussing with other Confucian scholars, Li Si erected a stone tablet on the top of Dongshan Mountain with inscriptions on it, which read:
The emperor founded the country, the beginning of the reign was in the past, and the subsequent generations were crowned kings. The crusade against chaos and rebellion stirs up the power of the four extremes, and the martial justice is straightforward.
The Rong ministers obeyed the imperial edict, and after a short period of time, the six violent and powerful forces were destroyed. In the twenty-sixth year, he was recommended to a high position and his filial piety was evident.
After offering great success, he sent special favors and personally visited distant places. Climbing Mount Yi, surrounded by officials and followers, they have long thoughts.
Reminiscing about the troubled times, dividing the land and building a country to open up disputes. Meritorious battles are carried out every day, and blood is shed in the wild, since ancient times.
There are countless people in the world, and none of them, including Tuo and the Five Emperors, can stop them. Now the emperor has one family and the world, and the army will no longer rise.
Disasters are eliminated, Guizhou is in peace and stability, and the benefits are long-lasting. The ministers recited the poem, carved it on the music stone, and used chopsticks to broker it.
After carving the stone, the First Emperor wanted to climb Mount Tai, so he discussed with the Confucian scholars about enshrining Mount Tai!
The First Emperor said: "Now that I have wiped out Liuhe, the world has returned to its center, and I want to appeal to heaven, what do you gentlemen think?"
Confucian scholar Zouping said: "Mount Tai swallows Xihua, presses Nanheng, drives Zhongsong, and Yibeiheng. It is the leader of the five mountains. Mount Tai is the place closest to the gods. If your majesty offers sacrifices here, he will surely be protected by heaven!" "
The First Emperor asked: "Why is Mount Tai the first of the five mountains?"
Confucian scholar Cheng Wen replied: "It is said that after Pangu died, his head was Dongyue, his left arm was Nanyue, his right arm was Beiyue, and his feet were Xiyue. Pangu's head faced the east and turned into Dongyue, so Mount Tai became the first of the five mountains. Yes. The East is the source of life. If Mount Tai is safe, the world will be safe!"

Talking about the etiquette of the Zen ceremony, the Confucian scholars suggested: "In ancient times, people who were afraid of harming the earth, stone, grass and trees on the mountain would ride in a cart with wheels wrapped in cattails. As a sacrificial venue, it is easier to make mats from local materials and weave them from grass and grains."
When the First Emperor heard that these discussions were very different from Qin's sacrificial methods, and that the Confucian scholars' suggestions were difficult to implement, he said: "What you are talking about are all the ancient sacrificial methods of Qi, which are too old. Now that Qin has unified the world, it should be used Yongcheng’s sacrificial method. You don’t need to talk about it anymore.”
Therefore, the First Emperor did not need to be followed by Confucian scholars when he climbed the mountain. He ordered people to repair and clean the driving roads, and climbed to the top of Mount Tai from the sunny slope. The First Emperor sighed: "The scenery of Mount Tai is magnificent, with overlapping mountains, thick bodies, pine trees and huge rocks, and changing clouds and smoke. It is both majestic and bright, and quiet and mysterious. It is indeed the supreme of the Five Mountains!"
Zhao Gao continued: "Your Majesty is the supreme being in the world, and Mount Tai is the supreme one among the five mountains. It is rare in the world for two deities to meet. It is better to carve a monument and set up a stone to commemorate it!" As soon as this statement came out, all the ministers agreed that this should be the case! So Li Si wrote:
When the emperor came to power, he made laws and regulations, and his subordinates revised them. The emperor listened attentively, and since he was able to bring peace to the world, he worked tirelessly to govern it. Work hard and sleep day and night, build long-term benefits, and specialize in teaching.
The scriptures are taught and promulgated, and the teachings are carried out far and near, and the holy will is inherited. There is a clear distinction between high and low, men and women should be polite and obey their duties carefully.
Zhao separated the inside and outside, and the waste was impure, and it was given to Kun Si. Transform into infinity, abide by the edicts left behind, and uphold the precepts forever.
After ordering people to erect a stone tablet, the First Emperor built a round altar on the top of Mount Tai to repay heaven for his merits. After the round altar was built, the First Emperor ordered his guards to surround himself with black silk and satin, and no one else was allowed to enter.
After burning incense, the First Emperor said to heaven: "I have been on the throne for twenty-six years. Thanks to God's blessing, the Qin Dynasty has wiped out Liuhe and unified the world. I am here to repay my merits today! I hope God can always bless the Qin Dynasty. Starting from me, in the second and third generations Until eternity!"
After the sacrifices were made to heaven, the First Emperor ordered people to seal all the gold, silver, jewelry and other sacrificial items so that outsiders could not know.
Afterwards, descend from the shady slope of Mount Tai. While going down the mountain, a sudden wind and rain came. The First Emperor stayed under a big tree to avoid the wind and rain. The storm only lasted for a quarter of an hour. Zhao Gao reported: "His Majesty's sincerity must have moved heaven. This is the response to His Majesty!"
The First Emperor laughed and said: "God is trying to warn me! Thanks to this big tree this time, otherwise I would have been wet." So the First Emperor named the big tree that shielded the wind and rain as the fifth official, and ordered the guards of Mount Tai Take careful care.
The Confucian scholars complained very much because the First Emperor did not need them to follow him when he climbed the mountain. They also heard that the First Emperor encountered a storm on the mountainside and took shelter under a big tree. The Confucian scholars laughed at the First Emperor for not listening to their advice and thus offending God.
After hearing the discussion of the Confucian scholars, the First Emperor felt unhappy.
There is a small hill at the foot of Mount Tai, named Liangfu Mountain. The First Emperor led his ministers here and built a square altar on the mountain to repay the earth's merits. All the rituals were imitated in Yongcheng to worship God.
After consecrating Mount Tai, the First Emperor was eager to see the sea. So he led the people all the way eastward, passing through Huangju, Xianxian, Chengshan, and Zhifu. Everywhere they arrived, the heads of counties and counties led hundreds of officials to greet them. Everyone praised the First Emperor's merits and deeds, and the First Emperor was very happy.
Coming south to Langye, the First Emperor was attracted by the beautiful scenery in front of him. He stood on a cliff by the sea, with the lush green mountains at his back. In front of him was the endless blue sea and sky, and at his feet were the huge waves crashing on the shore. Now all this All belong to you!
The First Emperor sighed in his heart, if he didn't go on patrol, how would he know that there would be such beautiful scenery in the world? Although the four seas are surrendered now, the land I live in is less than a corner. The four seas are so big, when can I finish it? Compared to the vast sea, which is thousands of miles wide, I am so small, and a feeling of sadness arises spontaneously.
The First Emperor decided to stop at Langya.
That night, when the First Emperor looked at himself in the mirror, he suddenly discovered that wrinkles had climbed up his cheeks and there were gray hairs on his temples. Suddenly he thought of death. Even though he is as powerful as the Five Emperors, he cannot escape death? Recently, every time he reviewed memorials until late at night, he would feel sleepy and fell asleep a few times. This was something he had never encountered before. He began to wonder if he was really getting old.
A few days later, the First Emperor suddenly fell ill, and the imperial doctor he brought with him was unable to cure him. So he issued an edict to search for famous doctors in Langya area. The prefect of Langya recommended Xu Fu to treat the First Emperor. The memorial said that Xu Fu was a close disciple of Mr. Guiguzi. He had followed Guiguzi to learn bigu, qigong, immortality, and martial arts. He also had a deep knowledge of medicine. Xu Fu was willing to help others and often helped others. Farmers receive free medical treatment, and it has a high reputation among people along the coast.
The First Emperor heard about Guiguzi's name, so he summoned Xu Fu to see a doctor for him. After Xu Fu diagnosed the disease, he knew that the Emperor suffered from a common disease in Qi. The Emperor and the imperial doctors were all located inland and had never seen it before, so they were helpless. Xu Fu immediately prescribed a dose of medicine, and three days later, the First Emperor's illness was completely cured. The First Emperor was surprised and delighted, and asked Xu Fu: "Sir, your medical skills are so good, do you know what my disease is?"
Xu Fu said deliberately: "It's not that I have great medical skills, it's just that I used the fairy grass for your majesty, which made your majesty recover quickly!"
The First Emperor's eyes lit up and he asked, "What kind of fairy grass is it?"
"Immortal grass is a kind of grass grown by the immortals on the sacred mountains in the sea. Long-term use can make people live longer and rejuvenate themselves."
"Do you really mean what you said? Are there really immortals in Qi?"
Xu Fu then bowed down and said seriously: "Qidi has been a gathering place for immortals since ancient times. It is said that there are eight gods in Qidi: one is God, worshiped in Tianqi, and there is Tianqi Yuanshui at the foot of the mountain in the southern suburbs of Linzi City;
The second is the landlord, who is enshrined in Liangfu Mountain at the foot of Mount Tai. The nature likes yin, so worshiping it must be at the bottom of a high mountain or on the top of a hill, which is called a ridge; the land nature likes yang, so worshiping it must be on a round hill in a low-lying area.
The third is the leader of the army, sacrificed to Chi You. Chiyou Temple is located in Jianxiang, Dongpinglu, on the western border of Qidi.
The fourth is the Lord of Yin, who is sacrificed to Shenshan. The fifth is the Yang Lord, who is offered sacrifices to Fu Mountain. The sixth is the Lord of the Moon, which is sacrificed to Laishan. The above three lords are all in the northern part of Qi State, near Bohai.
The seventh is the Lord of the Sun, enshrined in Chengshan. The mountains and cliffs twist and turn into the sea. In the most remote area in the northeast of Qi Dynasty, it is said to be the place to welcome the sunrise.
The eighth is the Lord of the Four Seasons, worshiped in Langye Mountain. Langye is in the eastern part of Qi State, where Tai Sui begins to move. "
The First Emperor had heard about immortals before, but he had not seriously thought about the authenticity of such things. Now that Xu Fuyan was confident that he had cured his own illness with the help of fairy grass, he couldn't help but believe it. His pursuit of immortality was inspired, and he asked, "Does an immortal have a medicine for immortality?"
"There are three sacred mountains in the sea, named Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou. Immortals live there. The elixir of life is only available to the gods there. You cannot get the elixir of life without going to the sacred mountains. You can only rely on luck to pick it up from the sacred mountains on the beach. The ambrosia that fell from the tree."
The First Emperor thought that the immortal grass could cure diseases, and the elixir of life would definitely make people immortal, so he asked excitedly: "Has anyone been to the sacred mountain?"
"It is said that some people have been there before, and there are immortals and the elixir of life there. All the animals and things on the mountain are white, and the palaces are built with gold and silver."
"Did anyone get the elixir of life?"
"The gods believe that they are not qualified to get the elixir of immortality. King Qi Wei, King Xuan of Qi, and King Yan Zhao all sent people into the sea to search for the three sacred mountains of Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou. These three sacred mountains are all in the Bohai Sea, and the distance is not long. Although it is far away, the difficulty is that when we are about to reach the side of the mountain, the sea breeze will blow the boat away from the mountain. Before reaching the mountain, it looks like a white cloud; when we come closer, we see that Sanshen Mountain is under the sea water. If you want to climb the mountain, Then every time you are blown away by the wind, you will never reach it."
The First Emperor let out a long sigh and said, "I have conquered Liuhe and created unparalleled achievements. Am I qualified enough?"
Xu Fu bowed down and said: "How can the princes of Qi Dynasty compare with the emperor? I am willing to fast and bathe, and to search for the sacred mountain in the sea for your majesty!"
The First Emperor was overjoyed: "If you can really find the elixir of life, sir, I will reward you greatly!"
So Xu Fu was sent to the sea to find the immortal.
After Xu Fu went to sea, the First Emperor was in a good mood and ordered Li Si to build a platform in Langya to worship the immortal. The First Emperor believed that the land of Langya was sparsely populated, so he ordered 30,000 households to be moved to Langye Tower, exempted from twelve years of corvee service, and dedicated to performing sacrifices.
After the Langyatai was built, the First Emperor erected a monument next to it and inscribed a message:
In the twenty-eighth year of Wei Dynasty, the emperor made the beginning. The law is upright and the order of all things is established. To clarify personnel affairs, contract between father and son. Sage, wisdom, benevolence and righteousness, reveal the truth.
Push the east to the east to save the soldiers. When the matter is over, we are now facing the sea. The merit of an emperor is hard work and hard work. When farmers are removed from the countryside, Guizhou becomes rich.
All over the world, we are united in our hearts and minds. A measuring instrument is the same as writing a book. The sun and moon illuminate it, and the boat and carriage carry it. They all end their lives, and no one is dissatisfied.
It was Emperor Wei who took action at the right time. Kuang ordered different customs, and the Lingshui passed through the land. I am worried about Guizhou and work tirelessly day and night. To eliminate doubts and determine the method, Xian Zhi has established it.
Fang Bo divided his duties and governed the Book of Changes. If you make a mistake, you will be punished. There is nothing better than painting. The emperor's wisdom can be seen in all directions. No matter how noble or humble you are, you should not exceed the rules.
No evil or evil will be tolerated, all must be chaste and good. Do your best in detail and don't dare to neglect. He is far away and isolated, and specializes in solemnizing the village. Straightforward and loyal. There is always a career.
The emperor's virtue is stored in the four extremes. Put an end to chaos and eliminate harm, bring benefits and bring happiness. Festivals are timely, and all products multiply. The head of Guizhou is peaceful and there is no need for war.
The six relatives protect each other, and there will be no bandits or thieves. Be happy to be taught and know all the Dharma. Within Liuhe, the emperor’s land. It wades through the quicksand in the west and ends in the north in the south.
There is the East China Sea to the east and Daxia to the north. Wherever people go, there is no one who is not loyal to him. His merits are as great as those of the Five Emperors, and his merits are as great as those of cattle and horses. No one is ungrateful, everyone is in his own place.
Accompanying the emperor were the princes of Wucheng, Wang Li, the princes of Tongwu, Wang Ben, the princes of Lun, Jiancheng, Zhaohai, Lunhou, Changwuhoucheng, Lunhou, Wuxinhou, Feng Wuze, Prime Minister Wei Zhuang, Prime Minister Wang Wan, Qing Li Si, and Qing. Wang Wu, the fifth doctor Zhao Ying, and the fifth doctor Yang Mu.
Seeing that Xu Fu had not returned for a long time, the First Emperor ordered him to return to Xianyang via Wuguan and come back next year.
