Han Xizai was a man of great learning and talent. He was a top-level figure in the academia of the Southern Tang Dynasty and was respectfully called "Master Han". Han Fuzi, a living fossil of the Southern Tang Dynasty, is both serious and lively. Like Feng Dao, a living fossil of the Five Dynasties, he has left us many anecdotes.
"Return within seven days without any reason"
Politically, Han Xizai was incompatible with the dignitaries of the dynasty, but his knowledge was still widely recognized. For example, Yan Xu admired his writing style very much, so he paid a lot of money to ask him to write a Shinto stele for his father Yan Keqiu. Yan Keqiu was Xu Wen's chief think tank, and Yan Xu was Xu Zhigao's son-in-law. He served in the Southern Tang Dynasty and became prime minister. Many people want to reach high places but fail to do so. Now that Yan Xu is asking for money, will Han Xizai take the opportunity to climb up the ladder and become a phoenix?
A few days later, Han Xizai finished the manuscript. Yan Xu opened it with interest, and found that it was just a regular journal, which recorded Comrade Yan Keqiu's family background and work history very objectively, including the sentence "Comrade Yan Keqiu's life was a glorious life and a fighting one." Not in my life.”
Yan Xu was very angry, sealed the manuscript again, and sent someone to return it to Han Xizai. And Han Xizai returned the "tens of thousands of treasures" in full without losing his humor.
"Return completed, welcome to visit next time, dear."
This is Han Xizai's character, not afraid of powerful people, not greedy for money, and very humorous.
Of course, as mentioned in the previous article, although Yan Xu of the "Qingliu Party" has a prominent position, he is also the target of exclusion and suppression by the "Four Evils and Five Ghosts" group. Han Xizai making fun of him cannot prove that he is not afraid of the powerful. He can only be tough with the "Four Evils and Five Ghosts" It can only be reflected when the "ghost" group is formed.
Han Xizai has never been afraid of the "Four Evils and Five Ghosts" group, and has publicly despised and ridiculed the godfather of the "Four Evils and Five Ghosts" group - Song Qiqiu many times.
“Obscene”
Yan Xu admired Han Xizai's true talent and learning, so he bought inscriptions from him, while more people asked Song Qiqiu for inscriptions, which was a disguised flattery. Big leaders always like to give inscriptions to others. Not only was Song Qiqiu's writing skills incomparable to Han Xizai's, but his calligraphy skills were also not comparable.
Therefore, whenever someone asked Song Qiqiu to write an inscription, Song Qiqiu would draft it himself and then ask Han Xizai to help copy it. Whenever Han Xizai was copying, he would block his nostrils with two small paper balls.
Song Qiqiu was puzzled and asked him why he blocked his nostrils with paper balls. Han Xizai looked contemptuous, "This rubbish article makes no sense, it simply stinks!"
Looking at the entire Southern Tang Dynasty, there was no one except Han Xizai who dared to tease the political leader Song Qiqiu like this.
"Fashionista"
Han Xizai is also very individual in his dressing style. He never sticks to conventions, is bold and avant-garde, and often leads fashion trends. He often turned into a fashion designer and created creations according to his own preferences. For example, his original gauze high hat was sought after by people and imitated, becoming the most popular style in the Southern Tang Dynasty.
“Ai gas is too strong”
Because Han Xizai's talent and learning were recognized as the ceiling in the Southern Tang Dynasty, many scholars who wanted to apply for official positions chose to submit their manuscripts to him in an effort to gain his appreciation and recommendation, so as to recommend them to civil servants. Han Xizai always takes time out of his busy schedule to read and evaluate carefully.
If he found a talented person, Han Xizai would personally copy it for him and then recommend it to the court.
However, if he finds someone with poor writing skills who just wants to opportunistically get by, Han Xizai will ask his servant to light a stick of mugwort leaves and smoke the article. When the person comes to ask about the result, Han Xizai will let him smell his article. When the man showed a puzzled expression, Han Xizai said: "Your article is too angry!"
Deng Ai, the general who destroyed Shu during the Three Kingdoms period, had a stuttering problem. The ancients often referred to themselves by their first names, such as Zhou Yu's "Since Yu was born, how could Liang be born", Cao Cao's "Today's heroes are only envoys and Cao Er". Deng Ai should also call himself "Ai", but because he stutters, he always gives a few more for free, "Ai Ai... Ai is willing to go, Ping Ping Ping Shu..."
Once, Sima Zhao couldn't help but joke with him: "Qing Yun Ai Ai, how many Ai must it be?" Deng Ai immediately offered a wonderful pairing, "Feng is like a phoenix, so it is a phoenix."
Later, the word "Ai Ai" was used to describe stuttering, and "Ai Qi" meant stuttering and having trouble making sense in articles.
Han Xizai made a pun. On the surface, it seemed to mean that the scroll had the aura of smoked mugwort leaves, but in fact it meant that the article was vulgar and unintelligible, as if he had a stutter.
"Don't eat skinned sheep"
In the early years of the Later Zhou Dynasty, Han Xizai went to the Central Plains as an envoy. During the banquet, the accompanying officials from the following week asked: "Why don't you Jiangnan people eat skinned sheep?" Han Xizai replied that it was because Luo Wan was abundant in Jiangnan. So the officials of the later Zhou Dynasty laughed "haha".
On the surface, it was a discussion about the differences in food culture between the two places, but in reality it was a trap set up by officials of the Later Zhou Dynasty to ridicule the Southern Tang Dynasty. Because the Southern Tang Dynasty usurped the foundation of the Yang family in Southern Wu, the homophonic pronunciation of "sheep" is "Yang", and the homophonic joke was played in the later Zhou Dynasty. But Han Xizai's answer was that it is cold in the north, so you need to use sheepskin to make clothes to keep out the cold. Our climate in the south of the Yangtze River is warm and Luowan is abundant, so people wear silk and have no need for fur coats. Sheepskin is of no use to us, so we don't use it. Peeled.
Later Zhou officials laughed, thinking that the so-called Jiangnan talents were nothing more than that. They fell into our language trap without knowing it, and they were stupid. They thought they had an advantage, so they laughed heartily.
After a long time, the officials of the Later Zhou Dynasty suddenly stopped laughing, because someone finally deciphered Han Xizai's code word. People in the south of the Yangtze River wear silk fabrics, which is "wrapped silk", and the homophone of "wrapped silk" is "Guo Shi". The founding emperor of the later Zhou Dynasty was Guo Wei. Han Xizai meant that Jiangnan is rich in silk, and everyone "wrapped silk".
None of the officials in the later weeks reacted. They thought they had taken advantage and laughed "haha"... By the time they reacted, Han Xizai had already returned to China for several days. When the matter is over, he brushes off his clothes and goes away, hiding his merit and fame.
"There are people in Jiangnan who remember"
During the "Three Expeditions to Huainan", the Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chu Zhu Yuan defected to the Zhou Dynasty, which not only implicated Li Ping, but also implicated the entire "Northern Department" in the Southern Tang bureaucracy. Li Jing and Li Yu were responsible for all Central Plains immigrants and political The refugees had a crisis of trust. Historical records record that they were "quite suspicious of visitors from the North." At the same time, they treated Han Xizai fairly and "only waited for Xizai to survive."
Is it true, or is it just a joke? Han Xizai was not naive enough to choose the former.
Soon after, Han Xizai visited Bianzhou and was enthusiastically persuaded to stay. During this period, Han Xizai was on pins and needles. Under the shadow of "Zhu Yuan's betrayal", staying in the Central Plains for a long time was definitely a waste of melons and plums. It is difficult to make it clear. In depression, Han Xizai wrote a poem on the wall of the hotel room:
"I am originally from Jiangbei, but I am a guest from Jiangnan.
When I returned to Jiangbei, I didn't recognize him.
The breeze blows me cold, but the bright moon is white.
It's better to go back and remember someone in Jiangnan. "
The Prime Minister of Zhongyuan sympathized with his situation, so he used this poem to plead with the emperor on his behalf, and then he was released back to the Southern Tang Dynasty.
Although the Southern Tang authorities repeatedly expressed their absolute trust in Han Xizai, they were very honest physically, leaving Han Xizai one step away from real power.
She treated him like her first love, but actually abused him thousands of times.
