2. Sun Fangjian of Langshan
Two hundred miles northwest of Dingzhou (between Dingzhou and Yizhou, southwest of today's Yi County, Hebei Province), there is Langshan, also known as "Langshan". Later it was changed to another name, and I believe this name is Everyone in China will know - Langya Mountain.
The terrain here is difficult, easy to defend and difficult to attack. The nearby residents built fortresses on the mountains to avoid harassment by rebels and bandits, and it became a safe haven for nearby people.
As time passed, the common people built a Buddhist temple in the fortress, and a nun named Sun Shenyi served as the abbot, and she lived in peace throughout her life. Sun Shenyi, a nun, has traveled around the world for many years and knows some close-up magic and sleight of hand. She uses people's superstitious ideas to develop followers and confuses good men and women by casting "magic". She is revered as a living god by the local people. A proper cult organization.
Brothers Sun Fangjian and Sun Xingyou from Dingzhou are Sun Shenyi's most devout believers. They claim to be Sun Shenyi's nephews. They do not drink alcohol or eat meat. They act as Sun Shenyi's servants and take care of his food and daily life meticulously. Due to Nisun's affectionate enthusiasm, the two have become well-known "angels".
Later, Yaonisun Shenyi died of illness. Seeing that the big IP that she had worked so hard to cultivate was about to die, Sun Fangjian was unwilling to do so, so she carried out technical treatment on Sun Shenyi's body, made her appear in the public eye in a sitting position, put heavy makeup on her, and claimed that she was an old man. It's just "sitting" (the soul ascends to heaven, the body temporarily holds its breath, and meditates), not real death.
At the same time, Sun Fangjian continued to perform some of the little tricks Sun Shenyi taught him.
As a result, not only did the number of Langshan believers not decrease, but there were more believers than before.
This area is the border area between the Central Plains and Khitan, where wars are frequent and bandits are rampant. This is also the main reason for the formation of the Langshan base area. As the war progressed, both countries shifted the cost of the war to the common people. Years of natural disasters and heavy taxes further led to a large number of people fleeing. As mentioned earlier, in many places across the country - especially in Hebei, several Tens of thousands of refugees have fled their homes.
Another result of the refugees is serious banditry. Refugees also need to eat. Apart from begging along the way, they can only plunder along the way.
Of course, some refugees defected to Langshan. Sun Fangjian selected the young and strong among them and incorporated them into his own armed forces. Then he expanded the Langshan Fortress and gradually built the Langshan base area.
When the Khitan marched south, Sun Fangjian led the Langshan heroes to take advantage of their home field and cleverly set up an ambush to ambush the Khitan army and rob them of their weapons, armor, cattle, horses, grain, grass and other supplies.
Soon, the deeds of the Langshan heroes spread throughout the country, and the Langshan base area became a revolutionary holy place in the hearts of countless Han people. As a result, more people came to seek asylum from the organization. More than a thousand families soon gathered in the Langshan base area. Sun Fangjian armed them all. All the people became soldiers, and his power became stronger and stronger.
With more people, there are more mouths to eat. The heroes of Langshan had no choice but to rob homes and houses under the leadership of Sun Fangjian, and committed banditry in Dingzhou and Yizhou.
Sun Fangjian was very shrewd and knew that the so-called "heroes of Langshan" were after all a group of bandits and would be exterminated by the court sooner or later. After thinking about it, Sun Fangjian came up with a good idea: recruit people.
The heroes of Langshan entered the system and helped the court fight against the Khitan. Both sides got what they needed, and the recruitment matter hit it off.
The imperial court appointed Sun Fangjian as the "Northeast Recruitment Commander", giving him the power to organize militia and rob Khitan on orders.
Of course, Sun Fangjian wanted to submit a petition to the imperial court, so he repeatedly led his troops across the border and penetrated deep into the Khitan territory, burning, killing, and looting, and gained a lot.
If Sun Fangjian and his Langshan heroes can do justice for heaven, it will be considered a legendary story. But after all, Sun Fangjian is the leader of a cult organization and a bandit, and he has never changed his banditry. He not only robbed Khitan people, but also Han people, and had criminal records in both countries.
Because he is not a real soldier, the purpose of his actions is not to systematically destroy the Khitan, but to "wear out the enemy". The immediate short-term interests are the guiding principle for all actions. They not only crossed the border to rob the Khitan people's property, but also robbed the Han people's property in their own country. Anyway, they robbed whoever had money and food.
Whenever Sun Fangjian returned from crossing the border and plundering, he had to report his merits to the imperial court and ask for rewards and rewards from the imperial court.
The imperial court's attitude towards Sun Fangjian gradually became cold. The original intention was to use him to consume the Khitan, kill the Khitan to quell foreign troubles, and kill Sun Fangjian to eliminate internal strife. The trophies Sun Fangjian plundered were already regarded as policy allocations from the imperial court. Why did he really think of himself as an imperial general?
Thinking about what happened to the heroes of Liangshan after they were recruited, Sun Fangjian, the hero of Langshan, had the same image in the eyes of the court. Therefore, the later Jin Dynasty gradually could not satisfy Sun Fangjian's appetite.
The imperial court hated Sun Fangjian, and Sun Fangjian also disliked the imperial court. He believed that the imperial court allowed him to provoke the Khitans and did not distribute enough military pay, food, armor and weapons, etc. It was obvious that he was being used as cannon fodder to die.
Therefore, in May of the third year of Kaiyun (946), Sun Fangjian led his Langshan heroes and angrily defected to the Khitan, expressing their willingness to serve as a leading party for the Khitan army.
As for the certificate of surrender, Du Chongwei hit the muzzle of the gun.
Just this month, Du Chongwei sent his confidant Liu Yanhan to the border area to buy war horses, but was successfully intercepted by Sun Fangjian. Sun Fangjian presented Liu Yanhan to the Khitan, indicating that he would draw a clear line between himself and the later Jin regime.
Liu Yanhan waited for an opportunity to escape and brought the news of Sun Fangjian's rebellion back to Bianzhou.
Langshan hero Sun Fangjian's betrayal and surrender to the enemy enabled the Khitans to obtain a qualified guide dog. It laid a solid foundation for the Khitan to move south from Dingzhou.
3. Tuguhun whiteness lasts for a long time
When An Chongrong rebelled, he tried his best to win over Bai Chengfu, the chief of the Tuyuhun tribe. Bai Chengfu was confused for a while and boarded An Chongrong's pirate ship. After being fought over by the Later Jin Dynasty, Bai Chengfu lost his way and returned to the central court of the Later Jin Dynasty through Liu Zhiyuan's relationship. .
Shi Jingtang summoned Bai Chengfu to the center and gave him generous rewards. After Shi Chonggui ascended the throne, Bai Chengfu led his Tuyuhun tribe to participate in military operations against the Khitan, and was subsequently reorganized into Zhang Congen's army in Weizhou and stationed in Huazhou.
Liu Zhiyuan, Bai Chengfu's guide to the Later Jin Dynasty, had ulterior motives for the Tuguhun tribe. He first annexed Bai Chengfu's elite Tuguhun troops, and then developed a strong interest in Bai Chengfu's private property.
After the battle, Bai Chengfu transferred his troops to the Lan and Shi prefectures for grazing. Liu Zhiyuan used the excuse that his soldiers had violated the law, severely punished them, and blatantly oppressed the Tuyuhun people.
