Under the rule of Wang Shenzhi, the people of Fujian actually enjoyed peace and stability for more than thirty years during the war-torn late Tang and Five Dynasties periods, turning Fujian into a paradise on earth! I would rather be a peace dog than a person in troubled times. It is not difficult to understand that the people of Fujian are grateful to Wang Shenzhi and praise him.
The fifth generation ancestor of Wang Shenzhi was the magistrate of Gushi County. He had favorable government policies and had a good reputation among the people. However, by the time Wang Shenzhi met his grandfather and father, they were already ordinary farmers, and they were relatively poor farmers. Therefore, general historical records will simply say that Wang Shenzhi was born in poverty.
Other records say that Wang Shenzhi was actually a descendant of a famous family, and was the thirty-fourth generation grandson of Wang Jian, a famous general of the Qin Dynasty. This is engraved on the stone tablet of Wang Shenzhi's ancestral temple, and it belongs to "after Liu Sheng, King Jing of Zhongshan". There is no need to verify it at all, it is fake at a glance.
After taking power, Wang Shenzhi did not show the mentality of a nouveau riche. Instead, he became more cautious and focused on thrift. When his clothes were torn, he would use wine bags to patch them.
Once, the envoy brought him a rare toy from a business trip - a glass bottle. Wang Shenzhi was amazed and couldn't put it down. After looking left and right, up and down, he suddenly dropped it to the ground and broke it into pieces. The messenger and his friends were stunned. Wang Shenzhi explained: "Playing with things makes one lose one's ambition! Being fond of exotic treasures is the first step towards arrogance, extravagance and corruption. I just want to set an example for future generations."
During the thirty years he was in Fujian, some people kept urging him to proclaim himself emperor and establish a country, but he sternly refused. He said to his left and right: "I would rather be an open-door military envoy than a closed-door emperor." This sentence is very interesting. As we all know, when Dong Chang proclaimed himself emperor, his old subordinate Qian Liu once advised Dong Chang that "it is better to be an open-door emperor than to be a closed-door emperor."
There is a poem praising:
"The Fujian and Kunji are called Three Dragons, and the white horse Saburo has a unique talent.
If you don't want to be the emperor behind closed doors, He Sha's prophecy has already made you worthy of ascending to the throne. "
Under Wang Shenzhi's rule, Fujian's most significant achievement should be in the shipbuilding industry. At the end of the Tang Dynasty and the beginning of the Five Dynasties, Fujian could already build large ships that were twenty feet long and could carry six to seven hundred people. Except for Wang Shenzhi's need to pay tribute to the central court by sea, the development of Fujian's shipbuilding industry was mainly for foreign trade.
If you rely on the mountains, you will eat the mountains; if you rely on the sea, you will eat the sea. In order to develop foreign trade, Wang Shenzhi not only increased support for the shipbuilding industry, but also embarked on the infrastructure construction of ports. Legend has it that in the northeast of Fujian, there is a particularly dangerous sea area with reefs and waves, which is a nightmare for passing ships. The merchant shipping team has to make a big detour, which is very inconvenient.
One day, Wang Shenzhi had a dream. He dreamed of a golden-armored warrior who called himself King Wu An and said that he would help him dig a port. After Wang Shenzhi woke up, he felt very strange and mentioned the matter to his staff.
The staff asked him to go to the beach to worship. What if it was true?
Wang Shenzhi sent his secretary to pay homage and recount the events in his dream. Suddenly, there were dark clouds rolling, wind surging, thunder and lightning, and a huge monster with yellow scales and red hair, neither a fish nor a dragon, appeared. It rolled in the sea and caused thunder for three days in a row. Three days later, the sea returned to calm, and people were surprised to find that it had become a harbor where ships could berth.
Wang Shenzhi reported the matter to the central government, and Emperor Zhaozong of the Tang Dynasty named it "Gantang Port".
Gantang Port became the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
Excluding human factors, Gantang Port should be a major infrastructure project built under the leadership of Wang Shenzhi, which has made great contributions to the present and will benefit the future.
Wang Shenzhi once organized relevant professionals to conduct an operation to collect and rescue ancient books. Since his careful search and protection, a large number of ancient books have been handed down.
In the "Supplement to the History of the Five Dynasties", there are a large number of verses and prophecies about Wang Shenzhi's control of Fujian. There are many variations, but the main theme remains the same, that is, Wang Shenzhi's control of Fujian was God's will. No need to copy everything.
One of the short stories is quite interesting. A man named Xu Yin was passing through Bianzhou. In order to curry favor with Zhu Wen, he wrote a poem called "Guo Daliang Fu". ——Hedong Li Keyong was sarcastic and extremely sarcastic. Don't criticize others. Li Keyong was born with big and small eyes, which was his most taboo physical defect. Moreover, he was born in Shatuo, a barbarian and a barbarian, which was also his taboo. As a result, in this poem, Xu Yin used four words to describe Summarizing Li Keyong's two major flaws, his article says:
"Thousand-year-old Han generals rely on auspicious dreams and magical talismans; one glance at the Xiongnu, and they are afraid of the majesty of the heroes."
One-eyed bastard, one look at you (Zhu Wen) makes me pee in fear.
Zhu Wen was overjoyed because he had just dreamed of the "thousand-year Han general" - Huaiyin Marquis Han Xin. In the dream, Han Xin taught Zhu Wen the art of war. And Xu Yin's Fu Zhong actually fits Zhu Wen's dream perfectly! So he was immediately rewarded with five hundred pieces of silk.
Someone secretly forwarded this article to Li Keyong. The words "a glance at the Huns" made Li Keyong furious.
When Wang Shenzhi professed his submission to Li Cunxu, Li Cunxu asked the envoy from Fujian, "Is the man named Xu Yin where you are?"
The messenger did not dare to hide anything and told the truth.
Li Cunxu felt sad in his heart, recalling his late father, and said sadly and angrily: "Go back and tell Wang Shenzhi that the hatred between parents is irreconcilable! That Xu Yin insulted his late father, how can I spare him!"
Wang Shenzhi knew that Li Cunxu wanted to kill Xu Yin himself, but after weighing his options, he still did not kill Xu Yin, but just hid him in the snow and refused to promote him.
And Xu Yin also threw up his sleeves in anger and walked away. Before leaving, he left a sentence: "A foot of water, a weir in the front and a weir in the back, can it accommodate a boat of ten thousand dendrobium?"
After Wang Shenwen's death, he was buried in Huangji Mountain in Jinjiang. His inscription was written by Xu Yin. One of the sentences "The emperor is the emperor, and the one who accumulates honors accumulates" is considered to be a flattering and licking chrysanthemum.
Xu Yin was a famous writer in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. "Xu Zhengzi Poems and Fu" contains eight poems and 368 poems by him.
In the first year of Qianning (894), Emperor Zhaozong of the Tang Dynasty, he became a Jinshi. The examination question at that time was "To Stop the Fighting and Use it as a Force". Xu Yin's examination essay "To Stop the Fighting and Use it as a Force" was the only one in that provincial examination that has been passed down to future generations.
At that time, Li Maozhen's arrogance was at its peak and he claimed that the army was invading the palace. Xu Yin keenly captured the good intentions of the court, so he expressed in the article the main idea that stopping the war and recuperating is the king's highest martial virtue, which is equivalent to excusing the defeated Zhaozong: It's not that I can't defeat you Li Maozhen, it's just that God Have the virtue of living well...
Xu Yin stood out from the candidates with his keen political insight and excellent literary talent.
Objectively speaking, we cannot say that Xu Yin is a servile and spineless person just because he once flattered Zhu Wen. It is the daily task of literati to sing praises and praises for those in power. Of course, there are also aloof and aloof people from ancient times to the present. Not only do they refuse to flatter The rich and powerful, on the other hand, laughed, cursed, and were extremely sarcastic, such as Mi Heng who "swore nakedly at Cao" during the Three Kingdoms period, but their fate is also obvious to all.
Compliment the leader appropriately. As long as you stick to morals, ethics, and the bottom line of right and wrong, you are not spineless. It would be shameful if you confuse right and wrong for the sake of glory and wealth and whitewash the villains, such as Li Juchuan, who whitewashed Han Jian who caused the "Sixteen Houses Massacre", or helped the invaders by shouting, "Fellows, come out, Imperial Army Don't grab food! ***** circle..." That is so damn shameless.
In general, Wang Shenzhi has been in Fujian for 30 years, and he has been in "a state of peace". "Ten Kingdoms Spring and Autumn" concluded that he was "the founding hero".
