Shortly after the funeral of Emperor Chongzhen Zhu Youxiao, under the persuasion of hundreds of officials, on June 28, King Xin Zhu Youjian held an enthronement ceremony in the Hall of Supreme Harmony.
The three main halls suffered a fire in the 25th year of Wanli. After that, Emperor Wanli continued to repair them. From Wanli to Taichang and then to Chongzhen, he experienced the three great expeditions of Wanli and the Battle of Sarhu. No matter in any difficult moment, the palace in the Forbidden City remained intact. The massive construction work has not stopped.
The Huangji Palace, which symbolizes the highest imperial power, was burned down by Donglin thieves not long ago. Except for the three main halls, the other palaces are not suitable for holding a grand ceremony like the enthronement.
Perhaps due to the blessing of the late emperor, when the officials of Honglu Temple in the Ministry of Rites were anxious and at a loss, on June 25 of the first year of Chongzhen, the Hall of Supreme Harmony was the first to be repaired.
The specifications of the Hall of Supreme Harmony are slightly lower than those of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, but due to urgency, at the initiative of Marquis Ping Liao, the coronation ceremony of the new emperor was held as scheduled three days after the completion of the Hall of Supreme Harmony.
However, such a rush left the officials planning the enthronement ceremony at a loss.
On the 28th, the officials of the Rites Hall, the attendant historians, the guide officers, the imperial censors and others were arranged in two rows, east and west.
Zhu Youjian came to the Hall of Supreme Harmony in a dragon robe of sun, moon and stars. Marquis Pingliao led hundreds of officials to congratulate the twelve-year-old new emperor.
Surrounded by a group of people, Zhu Youjian came to the center from the Hall of Supreme Harmony. The attendants on both sides bowed and stood under the curtain. The curtain was rolled up, and Zhu Youjian ascended to the ninth-level throne from the middle path.
After a series of ceremonial procedures that were so cumbersome that one could despair, the new emperor's enthronement ceremony was finally completed.
On June 30, Zhu Youjian issued an edict on his accession to the throne, declaring to the people of the world that "
"I was shocked to hear the incident in Shenjing, and thought deeply about the importance of inheriting the throne. The Marquis of Ping Liao, the civil and military ministers, and the elders of the military and civilians jointly urged people to advance. However, they refused to accept the words again and again, and instead obeyed the imperial edict. On the 20th and 8th day of June, Zhuan told the heaven and earth, the ancestral temple, and the country, that is, the throne of the emperor."
In addition, the new emperor also focused on praising the contributions of Ping Liao Hou Ce Li, adding special Jin Zuozhuguo and Taifu, adding three hundred shi to his age. He was originally Yin's military officer, Yi Nan, and was promoted to a hereditary level. He also served as Minister of the Ministry of War. The edicts are not known, the praises and worships are not known, the court is not popular, and the sword is worn in the palace.
There is a paragraph in the new emperor’s edict that reads:
"Instruction to the Grand Tutor: The Marquis of Ping Liao personally accepted the imperial edict from the late Emperor. Jing Nan can defeat thieves and assist me in the new year. Today, the world is uneven and there are many polices in the north and south. We still need the help of the Grand Tutor. All major national affairs are entrusted to the Grand Tutor. The Grand Tutor is loyal and faithful. Great honor, I cannot describe it in words, nor can I be rewarded by officials, but my ancestors, the saints, will definitely pay attention to it, and I will bless the descendants of the Taifu, and I will never be with the country forever..."
Finally, the edict announced that the next year would be the first year of Tianqi.
Regarding the choice of the year name, it was actually a matter of careful consideration.
On June 25, the cabinet presented four era titles for Zhu Youjian to choose from:
The first is "Qian Sheng". Zhu Youjian said, "Qian is the heaven, and the saint will be safe and brave."
The second is "Xingfu". Zhu Youjian said, "Zhongxing is very good, but I don't dare to take it seriously."
The third is "Xianjia". Zhu Youjian said, "Xianjia is a war. If we want to stop the war now, don't use it."
The fourth is "apocalypse". Zhu Youjian said, "The Book of Rites says that heaven has revealed that heaven has opened a new era. Now that Ming Dynasty has Taifu Liu supervising the country, it will be completely new."
Therefore, Zhu Youjian chose Tianqi as his reign name, made a handwritten copy of the imperial edict, and sent it to the eunuch Wang Chengen, the eunuch Wang Chengen, who was the eunuch of rites, to personally deliver it to Marquis Pingliao.
After Liu Zhaosun received this edict, he resolutely refused to supervise the country and refused all rewards from the emperor.
As the saying goes:
Duke Zhou was afraid of the day of rumors, but Wang Mang was humble and did not usurp the time.
Xiangshi died at the beginning, who knows whether he will be true or false throughout his life?
In the end, Liu Zhaosun ignored the persuasion of his ministers to advance and insisted on declining all rewards. Even the Grand Master's Palace was returned to the new emperor.
This move even more frightened the court, thinking that Liu Zhaosun was trying to catch him and deliberately tested the reaction of the court and officials.
A larger-scale campaign to persuade people to move forward began, and the voices of officials urging people to move forward came one after another.
More than 300 imperial censors in the capital signed thousands of letters in blood. These people did not hesitate to commit suicide to force Ping Liaohou to submit.
Emperor Tianqi's imperial edicts were sent to the Taishi Mansion one after another, and his words became more and more sincere.
Finally, Tianqi said:
"Instruction to Master Liu Zongbing: I am here to see Empress Yi'an (the first empress of Chongzhen, Liu family) to say: "I told Liu Zongbing that all major ceremonies, although they are exercises, are related to government affairs both internally and externally, you (Zhu You) The prosecutor) has not yet been able to make a decision, and border matters are particularly important. Mr. Liu was a veteran of three dynasties. He was personally entrusted by the late emperor and was a mainstay. How could he bear to leave! We will discuss it again when Fu'er is thirty years old. From now on, General Liu must never think of this (refuse to supervise the country) again..."
Ping Liaohou accepted the title of "Zhuguo" after repeated refusals.
But he has always refused to accept the so-called "edicts are unknown, praises and worships are unknown, people enter the court without trends, and swords are worn in the palace."
Liu Zhao and Sun Cijun left the palace and returned to the Taishi Mansion surrounded by guards. They led Jin Yu and his daughter to burn incense in front of the shrine of his adoptive father Liu Wei.
"Father, the child has finally entered the sixth chapter according to your wish..."
Seeing Ping Liaohou's emotional state, Jin Yuji was tearfully happy for him.
