Because this couplet is so classic, the whole couplet is majestic and inspiring. As soon as this couplet was published, it became a famous saying throughout the ages and inspired countless people. I believe that engraving this couplet on this monument will definitely urge future generations to forge ahead and will be a contribution to Xiahe Village and even the entire Ming Dynasty.
“Where there is a will, things come true; if the cauldron sinks the boat, the hundred and two passes of Qin will eventually belong to Chu;
His hard work pays off and his courage is rewarded. Three thousand Yue Jia can devour Wu. "
After writing this couplet, Zhu Pingan thought for a while and then wrote another couplet:
"If a man doesn't show his ambition, he will lose his eight-foot body in vain."
This sentence has a great influence on future generations and has inspired countless people. Its meaning is very clear and inspiring, that is, it wants to tell people to work hard in their lifetime and not to be mediocre people. Theoretically speaking, this sentence would be spoken by Feng Menglong in "Warning Words" decades later, but writing it out today should be more effective.
After writing these two sentences, Zhu Ping'an put away his pen. On one side, the village leader, the village elder and others took the brush with a soy sauce mentality and did not write a few words; on the other side, Zhang Juren wrote as if there were any God, I have already written a couplet, and I have put away my pen. I am not going to write a second couplet. I am holding the tea collected by my hometown in the village, blowing on the tea powder and savoring it carefully.

Of course, the green scarf on the head and the confident eyes are also indispensable. I have also finished writing a couplet. I was writing the second couplet, and I was very confident and fast. About three minutes later, the second couplet of my uncle Zhu Shouren came out.
"Ashamed. Ashamed..." Uncle Zhu Shouren said modestly after putting away his pen.
When the village elder, Muramasa and others saw that the couplets were all written, they stopped writing. Without blushing and out of breath, they casually put aside the rice paper with a few words written on it, and said self-deprecatingly that the book will be used when it is needed. Hate less. They were not prepared to write it. I am very conscious of being a green leaf.
So at this time, the only things left in front of everyone were the two couplets written by Zhu Ping'an, the one written by Zhang Juren, and the two couplets written by the uncle Zhu Shouren.
A couplet written by Zhang Juren is: "The heart is higher than the sky, and the ambition will not be fulfilled until the ambition is fulfilled; everyone who is determined to become a talented person can be like Yao and Shun."
In fact, in terms of level, this couplet written by Zhang Juren is very good, but it is slightly inferior to Zhu Ping'an's two couplets, especially the first couplet.
Two pairs of couplets written by the uncle Zhu Shouren with great confidence were also placed on the table, together with those by Zhu Ping'an and Zhang Juren.
"Read more under the stars and the moon; study with clouds and sails to achieve success."
"The faint dark plum blossoms bloom alone in the cold weather. This year's auspicious snow heralds a good harvest; numerous students with high aspirations will bring happiness next year in the golden autumn."
Well, how should I put it, the couplets written by the uncle are very fluent. But it’s just that, and it feels a bit vulgar, so I didn’t feel much after reading it. However, the uncle was very confident in these two couplets, and after finishing writing, he still felt a sense of accomplishment.
After the uncle put the couplets on the table, he first took a look at the couplet written by Zhang Juren. Well, Zhang Juren is indeed Zhang Juren. This couplet is indeed better than his own. The uncle, who was originally very confident and well-thought-out, lost a little bit of the excitement on his face, but he was still quite optimistic about the couplet he had written. After all, he had been thinking about it for several days.
And then. The uncle stroked his beard and looked at the two couplets of Zhu Ping'an again, but he saw the first one: "Where there is a will, there is a way. If the cauldron sinks the boat, a hundred and two Qin passes will eventually belong to Chu; if you work hard, you will not be let down by man and nature, and if you work hard, you will pay for your gall, and three thousand will be rewarded." When he read the couplet "Vietnam can swallow Wu", the uncle's breathing became rapid. With a shake of his hand, he pulled off a small handful of beard on his chin, and his face turned red like a cooked prawn.
After reading the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, the uncle Zhu Shouren looked at the two couplets written by himself. I really wish I could turn back time, I wish I didn’t write about it.

After Zhang Juren read the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, he was amazed and full of praise:
"Although Zhu Xiandi is young, he has profound knowledge. He uses allusions flexibly and innovatively. The upper and lower couplets echo nature and flow in one breath, like clouds and flowing water. The upper couplet uses allusions about Xiang Yu breaking cauldrons and sinking boats and defeating Qin soldiers. He encourages the younger generations to be like Xiang Yu. Determination to fight to the end and never look back. The lower line uses the allusion of Gou Jian, King of Yue, who endured hardships and exterminated Wu. It encourages future generations to learn from King Gou Jian of Yue’s perseverance of hard work, self-motivation and perseverance. If you have determination and perseverance in doing anything, you will never stop it. Is it successful? The whole couplet is majestic, inspiring and breathtaking."
"Zhu Xiandi's second couplet is short and concise, 'If a man does not show his ambition, he will be born with an eight-foot body in vain.' Life is so long, if you don't have fighting spirit, if you don't work hard, how can you experience the moment of success? Brilliance? People should work hard in their lifetime and not be mediocre people."

Zhang Juren was full of praise and admiration for the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan. When he saw the couplets written by his uncle Zhu Shouren, he had no opinion after reading them.

"Brother Zhang is overrated, 'He has a heart as high as the sky, and he will never rest until his ambition is fulfilled; if he aspires to become a talented person, everyone can be like Yao and Shun.' This couplet of Brother Zhang is even more inspiring and will definitely become the motivation to encourage our students in Xiahe Village to study hard and make progress." ." Zhu Ping'an cupped his hands and said, "Uncle's two couplets, well, they are also excellent."

Zhu Pingan and Zhang Juren were humble to each other and complimented each other. In the end, Muramasa came to the rescue and carved out the couplets between Zhu Pingan and Zhang Juren to inspire the young people in the village. Of course, in Muramasa's mind, Zhu Pingan's first couplet It needs to be engraved on the stone tablet. Other couplets can be engraved elsewhere. Well, the couplet of uncle Zhu Shouren. The village leader and the village elders said that they should put it away properly and use it when needed.
Muramasa's words made everyone happy, and the matter of erecting the monument came to an end.
"To encourage young people to learn, spirit is valuable, and material things are also indispensable. I can study till now thanks to the care of the village. As a young person to encourage learning, I will lend flowers to Buddha and hand over the 50 taels of congratulatory gift given to me by Zhang Juren. The village purchases grain as "school grain" so that the children in the village can study with peace of mind. The village will provide several loads of "school grain" to the students every year. Ping An is young and inexperienced, so I will leave this matter to the village leader and everyone. The village is old.”
As Zhu Ping'an spoke, he handed the 50 taels of congratulatory gift given to him by Zhang Juren into the hands of the village leader, and asked the village leader and the village elders to be responsible for the affairs of the "Xuegu".
"For the sake of the village, I hope Muramasa will pay more attention."
