The reason why I chose the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty is because I am very interested in this period. Emperor Jiajing is very interesting. In the early stage, he was as wise and powerful as Taizu. In the later stage, he refined elixirs and cultivated immortality without going to court for 28 years. There were also many interesting figures in this period, including Yan Song, Gao Gong, Hai Rui, Qi Jiguang, etc. This period was also a period of great achievements. Jurchens were growing in the coastal Japanese pirates, northern Mongolia, and even in the Black Mountains and Baishuijian.
