This excursion went incredibly smoothly. All the dangers that Luo Binhan imagined he might encounter never happened. But the scenery we saw was beautiful and picturesque. They saw the giant pelican as planned, and it was indeed as beautiful and magical as Bang Bang described. Despite this, when Luo Binhan stood at the foot of the peak and looked up at the giant bird, he felt that the enthusiasm in his mind was slowly cooling down.
That's not to say that it's not wonderful enough, but for some reason, Luo Binhan doesn't feel so far away. He seemed to have just seen a pure white tiger in the zoo. Of course, it was amazing - but it was not so strange that it was worth risking one's life to touch it up close.
He touched his chest inexplicably, wondering what made him so fickle. A king-sized pelican, is it worth it?
"Mr. Luo, this pelican is really beautiful!" He heard Momolo next to him say, "It must be some kind of sacred creature. If we pray to it carefully, will it give us a child?" ?”
Luo Binhan admitted that it was somewhat poetic, but he still felt that it was not
A job that should be taken on by non-Pelicans. By this time, his morbid enthusiasm for pelicans had completely dissipated, but he found that everyone around him was in high spirits, even Jing Huang no longer had a bad face. That inevitably made him feel a little embarrassed, and he didn't dare to tell his true feelings at the moment.
He responded vaguely to Momolo, pretending that he still maintained a high level of interest in the Pelicans. It wasn't very difficult, because Bang Bang was jumping around on the ground ten times more excited than the others. That was already the second time he saw the strange bird on the peak, but he still seemed as excited. His appearance provided Luo Binhan with an example of how to pretend to be excited.
They walked half a circle around the mountain peak and saw some very small animals dormant among the grass blades. Most of them had tall legs and downy hair. That makes them both a little scary and a little cute, but doesn't appear to be anything seriously harmful. Luo Binhan was curious about how they survived in this area. Is this some kind of natural safe zone? Or does the pelican assume some kind of guardian function?
The person most promising to answer this question is Jing Huang, especially when the protagonist of the topic is a bird. But when Luo Binhan turned around and looked at his face, he thought there was not much hope for the matter. Jing Huang obviously lacked interest in that mythical object. With a straight face, he walked away from the thin-legged birds that surrounded him, his eyes scanning the sky aimlessly. Only occasionally would he glance at Luo Binhan or Bang Bang, as if to make sure they were lost.
Now Luo Binhan is more interested in Jing Huang than Pelican. Of course it wasn't true jealousy, but he felt that the latter cared a little too much about Bang Bang. If Bang Bang's racial characteristics were not obviously unsuitable for a life that was too thrilling, he even suspected that Jing Huang would drag Bang Bang into the gang. This thought made him think of Marin with regret. What would Marin say if he were here? I'll probably write something about the Pelicans.
This short stroll soon came to an end. They found several wild eggs with beautiful markings at the bottom of the weeping vine at the foot of the peak. It looked like they had not been taken care of by adult birds for a long time, so they decided to take them back to the Silence as a souvenir.
During this process, the pelicans on the summit never paid them any unnecessary attention. It faithfully serves as a mysterious and wonderful landscape without even looking outside. And with its extremely unbalanced body proportions, it was hard for Luo Binhan to believe that it could launch a sudden air attack from the top of the mountain.
"How did this bird survive?" He raised his head and asked, "Drinking the northwest wind?"
He didn't really expect an answer, but Bang Bang obviously took his words seriously. The foreign guest seriously asked whether local creatures could really use air circulation as a source of power. At the same time, he quietly asked Luo Binhan, wondering if Jing Huang, who had never been seen eating, relied on the same way to survive. Luo Binhan also had no intention of taking this issue seriously, so he told Bang Bang that Jing Huang was just hiding out of sight and eating. It was just a joke, but Jing Huang, who was staring at the sky, suddenly turned his head.
"...Do you want to know the answer?"
"What?" Luo Binhan said, "Did you really eat it? What about it, young master?"
"I'm talking about the bird on the summit. Want to see how it survived?"
Luo Binhan was shocked. He keenly sensed something unusual in this matter and quickly took two steps back, preparing to sternly refuse this dangerous invitation. Before that, Jing Huang rolled his eyes at him.
"I didn't talk to you." He said impatiently, "I asked you about the one behind you."
Luo Binhan turned his head and saw Bang Bang standing behind him.
"Huh?" he said. Then he stared straight at Jing Huang, trying to ask for a reasonable explanation with his eyes. But Jing Huang ignored him and asked again on his own.
Bang Bang started to get a little nervous. His four freely bendable legs stood as stiffly as iron rods. Luo Binhan recognized them at a glance as a sign before he fell into suspended animation.
Luo Binhan hurriedly coughed twice, preparing to smooth things over, and at the same time warned Jing Huang not to take him with him when he went out to hang out. But then Bang Bang jumped suddenly, jumping around like four pogo sticks tied together.
"I want to see it!" he shouted excitedly, "Can I? Oh, oh! An up-close expedition to a mysterious species! Thank you! Thank you!"
Jing Huang shook off the messy hair from his forehead and gave Luo Binhan an arrogant look. Then Hongyun held him and Bangbang up and took them two to fly towards the peak.
Luo Binhan was stunned by all this. He stood there in disbelief, while Momolo patted his shoulder considerately and said, "It's okay, Mr. Luo, friendship should be tolerant, and you shouldn't disturb the other party too much just because you rely on your companions."
Luo Binhan said excitedly that this has nothing to do with friendship or maturity, but a 100% issue of dignity. Jing Huang's behavior was undoubtedly a conspiracy, a revenge for his hair. He will never allow this to succeed, because no one in the world knows how to hold grudges better than him.
"Old Mo, let's go!" he shouted, "Let's go up too!"
"But Mr. Luo, there doesn't seem to be much space on the peak. Too many people surrounding it will scare Mr. Daigo, right?"
Luo Binhan was still furious, but he couldn't help but wanted to interject and ask Momoluo how to distinguish between male and female. His eyes spontaneously turned to the belly of the pelican on the peak, and he couldn't help but see Jing Huang and Bang Bang standing nearby. The two people had already reached the top of the peak within a moment, standing on the edge watching the resting pelicans. Bangbang started to step on the edge of the peak wall towards Daigo's head, while Jing Huang followed behind him. His sleeves and hair were flying back in the wind, making him look a little sluggish.
Certain details in that scene made Luo Binhan uneasy. At first he didn't realize its source. It wasn't until the two people on the peak stood in front of Daigo's huge mouth that Luo Binhan understood what made him alarmed: He found that Jing Huang had never paid attention to it from beginning to end. The pelican stared at Bang Bang instead.
The two pelican tourists stopped before the beak. Bangbang got closer excitedly and looked at the bottom of the bird's beak. He didn't turn his head until Jing Huang said something. The two people looked at each other in front of the pelican. Bang Bang didn't look frightened, but he didn't look surprised or happy either.
"Old Mo." Luo Binhan called.
"Mr. Luo, what's wrong?"
"What are the two above talking about?"
"I can't hear you either, Mr. Luo. It seems like he's talking about the pelican."
Luo Binhan squinted his eyes. He could only see most of Jing Huang's front and most of Bang Bang's back, and could vaguely judge the opening and closing of Jing Huang's lips. That didn't help much, since he'd never mastered lip reading.
He took out his telescope from his pocket and used ordinary red lenses to observe the situation. Now he could clearly see the details of Jing Huang's facial expression, as well as the changing Ohot above Bang Bang's head. Bangbang's four legs were still flexible and soft, which made the atmosphere much more relaxed.
Jing Huang said a very short word and visibly pulled his lips together to pronounce it. Bang Bang's body began to shake, which was a bit worrying, but then Luo Binhan recognized that it was jumping for joy, as if Jing Huang had said something that made him very happy.
The sight made Luo Binhan's shoulders relax. He patted his cheek and prepared to put down the telescope.
Then he saw Ohot condensing and forming above Bang Bang's head. It almost turned into an octopus with teeth and claws in the blink of an eye, and dozens of rays of light shot out from its tentacles.
Luo Binhan shouted subconsciously. He heard Momolo shouting too.
"Mr. Xuanhong!" Momolo shouted eagerly, "Look behind you!"
Luo Binhan was stunned for a moment, because Bang Bang was standing in front of Jing Huang. Then he immediately realized that it was not Ohot who prompted Momolo to sound the warning. He paid so much attention to the two tourists that he didn't notice that the pelican had opened its eyes at some point.
It stared at the two people in front of it with its dark and profound eyes, raising its neck slightly. Jing Huang noticed the movement and suddenly turned his head to look at the behemoth. One or two emerald green stars were already floating out of his sleeves.
The pelican opened its beak as fast as lightning, like two walls suddenly closing together, trapping both Jing Huang and Bang Bang inside. Then it raised its head high, holding up its huge beak that was as glorious as a holy spear, looking at the peak for power.
Luo Binhan stared at this scene stiffly. He watched the pelican stand up and show off its beak, comb the feathers under its wings with its beak, and then sit back down. Still he stared and waited until the pelican began to sleep.
"Mr. Xuanhong and Mr. Bangbang were trapped!" Momolo shouted excitedly, "Mr. Luo, we must rescue them immediately!"
Luo Binhan felt very calm for some reason, as if he had known that the pirate leader would have such a day. He grabbed Momolo's arm and said, "Don't panic, Old Mo. If you've been pinched, there's nothing you can do about it. If you don't pay the protection fee, that's what will happen."
"Mr. Luo is saying that we should collect money from Mr. Pelican now?"
"That's not necessary." Luo Binhan said, "Is it reasonable for a bird to accept money? Old Mo, please change. Let's go up, open its beak, and take out the two. Transform first, and then remember to change me. Bring it too."
"That's too dangerous, Mr. Luo, please watch the battle in a safe area first."
"Fart," Luo Binhan said, "Why am I so lucky that I don't know about it? I wouldn't be safe if I were left alone."
Momolo looked at him movedly, nodded vigorously and said, "Okay, Mr. Luo, let's go together!"
The silver stone giant appeared in the light. Luo Binhan sat on the giant's shoulder, his sight almost level with the top of the mountain. They were united in mind and rushed towards the mountain with great momentum. They first stepped on the mountainside and then grabbed the pelican's golden beak with two indestructible giant palms.
"Pinch someone to pay for your life!" Luo Binhan shouted on Momoluo's behalf.
The pelican opened its eyes again. Slowly and calmly it raised its head and opened its huge beak. The golden beak stretched across the peak, across the giant's shoulders and head, across the infinite sky and land, and then closed it skillfully, clamping Luo Binhan and Momoluo together.
It raised its head gracefully and caught the two new visitors in the wind.
That was Luo Binhan's last impression of this battle. He could not explain how it was done, but when the pelican's beak closed from both ends of the sky and the earth, he seemed to fall into a bottomless pit. In the chaos and darkness, he lost the trace of Momolo and fell to the ground involuntarily. It was definitely not the soft, moist and hot biological esophagus or digestive organs, but the soft sandy ground. The sediment is still a little sticky and seems to contain a small amount of water.
Luo Binhan judged all this in three seconds. Because of his rich experience in emergencies, he touched the ground with his fingers as soon as he landed. He didn't dare to open his eyes rashly, because it had happened again in the past - he got under a table, and then jumped into a maze that was impossible to reach with eight poles. It wouldn't be bad if the person next to him was Marin, but maybe the closest things to him at the moment were electromagnetic waves, starlight, and endless nightmares. He was still not wearing any protective clothing, so he might have fallen into the palms of the stars.
Lying on the ground, he spent less time regretting and more time calling out to Momolo. No one responded to him, whether it was true or false.
The attempt to call for help went on in vain for a minute, and then Luo Binhan had no choice but to open his eyes. He first raised only a trace of his eyelids and squinted to observe his surroundings.
He saw a huge pelican directly in front of him. Its whole body was a dark red that was close to pitch black, very close to the color of this land. Its tail was white and bright, and its eyes were covered with light golden fluff. There was also an orange pelican. Big red beak. It looks very similar to the one Luo Binhan sent, but the colorist's aesthetic is different. But there was another difference that was more important than appearance - it was dead.
Something extremely violent had happened to it. Its claws and wings have fallen off, its huge beak is bent, and its back is riddled with holes, as if it had been pierced by a thousand swords from the sky. Those wounds drained its blood, soaking the entire clearing.
Luo Binhan lay on his side on the ground, quietly looking at the violently dead body. He still felt emotionally stable, but he first reached into his coat and touched his gun and dagger. He made sure that both items were in place, and then slowly moved his gaze to trace the wounds to the sky.
He saw a glowing net covering the sky.
It was a strange pattern made up of countless golden lights. All the lights came from the unreachable sky and converged into the sky above his head. They are woven with such detail and precision that they are more geometrically beautiful than the webs spun by spiders.
Luo Binhan finally sat up from the ground. He took a few breaths, then desperately crawled toward the pelican's body. The feeling of fear finally began to spread in his chest, but it was not because of the light threads in the sky, but higher up in the net of the sky - countless eyeballs with bright wings patrolling the earth like bolides.
