Here I would like to mention the past of Mr. Kong Da.
Mr. Kong Da attended a mission school when he was a boy.
Less than two years after enrolling in school, the Boxer anti-imperialist movement broke out in northern China. Boxers everywhere began burning churches and killing believers.
The missionary school he attended naturally became a thorn in the side of the Boxers.
Just before the Boxers were about to take action, Mr. Kong Da's cousin got the news first from other channels and rushed to the school to take him away.
But at that time, the school was surrounded by boxers. As a last resort, his cousin had no choice but to take him into the church behind the school to take refuge.
Mr. Kong Da's cousin was his uncle's son. Since his uncle died young, he left such a son for adoption by Mr. Kong Da's father.
My cousin had a rough life, but he had been mature and sensible since he was a child. He cared deeply for his younger brothers and sisters. He also cared for Mr. Kong Da, his legitimate son, with great care and concern since he was a child. Naturally, the relationship between the two brothers was relatively deep.
That's why he heard that his cousin was in trouble and came to protect him regardless of his own danger.
Due to the complicated situation at that time, food began to run out after the church was surrounded by Boxers for several days. The Boxers outside had begun to continuously try to break into the church, and the situation became critical.
When my cousin saw this situation, he knew that the church would be attacked by the Boxers sooner or later, and no one would be able to survive by then.
So I decided to take advantage of the dark night to escape secretly with Mr. Kong Da.
The timing of my cousin's escape was also very good. It was around 4 o'clock in the middle of the night, when the boxers who were keeping vigil were most likely to fall asleep and doze off.
Everything was going smoothly at first. My cousin, who was in his 20s, and Mr. Kong Da, who was 16 years old, were both very agile and managed to avoid several Boxer posts along the way. Unfortunately, they were discovered at the last moment when they were about to escape.
So, a group of people chased the two brothers and killed them for several blocks. They were able to escape the danger until the tribesmen and fellow villagers who came after hearing the news took cover.
However, the cousin, who had been stabbed several times, was already dead when he returned home. He just pointed at the infant child held by his wife and then passed away.
Since Mr. Kong Da was always protected by his cousin, he only had some scratches on his legs and feet, which was not a problem. However, he knew that his life was bought by his cousin. In addition to the grief in his heart, he decided to treat his cousin's son as his son. When you raise your own son, you must make him prosperous and wealthy in this life, so as to comfort your cousin's spirit in heaven.
Later, Mr. Kong Da studied abroad for several years. After returning to China, he joined the Revolutionary Movement of 1911 and gradually emerged on the political stage of the Republic of China. With his considerable business talent, the Kong family became prosperous within a few years.
The cousin's son Kong Linglin has been growing up in the Kong family.
Since everyone in the Kong family was grateful to their cousin for saving their legitimate son, they naturally took special care of Kong Linglin. He was well clothed and well fed since he was a child, and everything he asked for was answered. Over time, he developed into an arrogant and domineering playboy.
After Mr. Confucius returned to China after studying abroad, he found that his character had already been formed and it was difficult to change. In addition, he was pitiful about his life experience and could not bear to scold him, so he could only be sent to a missionary school in the hope that he could be restrained through Western culture.
Several years passed like this, and Kong Linglin did not learn the essence of Western culture at all. Instead, he was immersed in the openness and decadent culture of the West.
At first, I was just addicted to the feast, the feast, and the entertainment.
Later, he began to bully men and dominate women without any scruples.
Mr. Kong Da was really helpless with him, so he thought about whether he could arrange a marriage for him and start a family as soon as possible.
At this time, the Kong family was already one of the top wealthy families in the Republic of China. Kong Linglin's in-laws must be well-matched, so Mr. Kong Da set his sights on Liu Ruolan, the legitimate daughter of the Liu family who also belonged to a wealthy family.
The Liu family became rich earlier than the Kong family.
The Liu family was a wealthy family in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the late Qing Dynasty. Liu Ruolan's grandfather, Mr. Liu, was already a member when the Founding Fathers founded the Xingzhong Society. He was responsible for providing activity funds for the Zhongxing Society. Unfortunately, he was later arrested and killed by the Qing government.
Since then, the entire Liu family has contributed money and effort to join the anti-Qing movement following the founding father.
Later, after the establishment of the National Government, the Liu family united with many wealthy businessmen from Jiangsu and Zhejiang to establish the Jiangsu and Zhejiang Consortium. They have been raising money and food for the principal, who is regarded as the successor of the founding father, and supported him in launching the world-famous Northern Expedition.
Of course, due to the early death of Mr. Liu, the Liu family was not that outstanding on the political stage of the Republic of China, and there were no outstanding political talents like Mr. Kong Da and the son of the Song family.
However, the Liu family adheres to Mr. Liu's philosophy of rejuvenating the country through business and chooses to develop industries and entities.
Over the past few decades, relying on his already solid family background and the political legacy of the older generation, he has developed into a business giant with industries covering more than half of China.
Mr. Liu has three sons and two daughters.
When a daughter marries young, the family regards the eldest son Liu Qizhen as the most respected one. The second eldest son Liu Qixing and the third eldest brother Liu Qiyi jointly assist the eldest brother in developing the family business.
It is strange to say that after the three brothers of the Liu family spread out, they may have been blessed by their ancestors, but the inheritance of incense that other families worried about was reversed in the Liu family.
Among the third generation of the Liu family, the young master had a lot of children, but only Liu Qizhen raised the next daughter, Liu Ruolan.
As the saying goes, things are rare but valuable, and Liu Ruolan has become the most valuable asset in the Liu family. Even the daughter of a wealthy family cannot describe her status in the family. It can be said that she is loved and favored by thousands.
Perhaps there were too many boys, which dispersed the excellent genetics of the Liu family. Among the seven or eight young masters, no one stood out regardless of their appearance or intelligence.
For example, Liu Ruoshui, the eldest son of Liu, is an average-looking fat man with no courage or ambition, but he has the common problem of wealthy young men who like to show off their vanity. If he had not met Zhou Wen, he would have lived a mediocre life despite not having to worry about food and clothing.
But the only daughter inherited all the best aspects of the Liu family's genes.
I won’t talk about Liu Ruolan’s appearance. I dare not say that when she looks back, she smiles charmingly. She is a colorless pink in the sixth palace. At least she is graceful, delicate and pretty like Pingting.
What's more valuable is that she is favored without being arrogant, smart and dignified, and behaves in a measured manner without losing restraint and elegance.
Moreover, she had received a good education since she was a child, was talented, and had certain attainments in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. She was often the focus of attention in the circle of children from aristocratic families, and her reputation gradually spread among the high-ranking families of the Republic of China. .
Several aristocratic families said that the Liu family had given birth to a good daughter, while the Liu family lamented that Ruolan was not a boy, otherwise it would be most appropriate for her to inherit the family business.
That is to say, when Liu Ruolan was 16 years old, Mr. Kong Da set his sights on her.
In his opinion, Liu Ruolan is well-educated, smart and beautiful, and is the perfect match for his Kong Linglin.
