"There is a famous saying in Laozi called Great Sound and Sound. The great Bodhisattva preaches, why can't ordinary people hear it? This is what "Laozi" calls Great Sound and Sound." When the Sixth Patriarch of Zen said this, he gave examples to support it:
Some people are very diligent and will hear voices and people speaking while meditating or sleeping. Sometimes these voices will also answer questions you encounter.
Everyone, please pay attention! Don't wear a face.
There are also people who cling to the sound of mantras, which is also wrong.
The Buddha said that all sounds are Dharani, which are mantras. But all sounds are impermanent. If you cling to this mantra or the sound of reciting the Buddha's name, thinking that you can cultivate the conditioned Dharma and achieve enlightenment, you will achieve nothing in the end.
Because all sounds are impermanent, ignore the sounds you hear in concentration or sleep.
But ignoring it is only right, and ignoring it will result in failure.
Why is it easier for some people to hear sounds when they use gong? Because people's visual and auditory nerves are connected in the back of the brain, when you make some progress with your practice, your brain nerves will change and sounds will come out. Please stop here for this question, otherwise it will be too far off topic.
The above mentioned "big sounds and sounds". Many sounds in space are too loud for us to hear. Because they are too loud, we can't hear them.
The sounds produced by some insects are like ants, and the frequency is so high that human ears cannot hear them, but people who are in meditation hear them like thunder.
People who practice concentration can hear all sounds, understand that all sounds are Dharani, and know the special uses of different mantras.
"There is no measure, it is too much." This goes on to say how loud the Bodhisattva's voice is. Zhuangzi described it as "big without outside, small without inside". Is the void considered big? When we talk about emptiness, we already have a boundary conceptually. Since something has a boundary, it is not considered big. If it is so big that it has no outside, then it is considered big when it has no boundary. What is that big? The extreme is the smallest.
What is small? It is small and empty in the end, so it is small and has no inner meaning. Small big, big and small. This is a logical principle, which is also the principle of true cultivation and empirical practice of Buddhism. Those who have personally experienced Dinghui Kungfu will understand the principle of "there is no measure, it is too much".
Bodhisattva has a complete understanding of all Dharma methods and can lead sentient beings through dangerous seas, just like a pilot navigating the sea.
Those who like to be teachers should pay attention. You must be able to "gather the Dharma weapon", learn countless Dharma doors, understand the cause and effect of all sentient beings in their previous lives and the differences in their abilities, understand the psychology of all sentient beings, and know all the thoughts and motivations of all sentient beings; with this Only with the state of Bodhisattva can we be "like a teacher in the sea." Every sentence in the "Vimalakīrti Sutra" is like a whip hitting us!
"Near the Buddha's Self-sufficiency and Wisdom", these Bodhisattvas are close to the Buddha and are equal to the Buddha's immeasurability, but in the end they are not Buddhas. They have not passed the tenth level and have not achieved Buddhahood beyond the two wonderful awakenings, so they are close to the Buddha. The great wisdom of Buddha.
The Buddha's free wisdom includes the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, and the eighteen unique dharma. I will not explain these terms one by one here. After explaining them in detail, the Buddhist dharma is all included.
Because Bodhisattva is close to the Buddha's wisdom, ten powers, four fearlessness, and eighteen unique dharma, a great Bodhisattva who is close to the Buddha can enter and exit the five paths at will to save all sentient beings.
"He is a great medical king who is good at curing all kinds of diseases. He gives medicine according to the disease and makes people take it." Lao Na said before that the "Vimalakīrti Sutra" is the same as the "Lotus Sutra", "Pharmacist Sutra" and "Ksitigarbha Sutra". Have a close relationship. However, the Vimalakīrti Sutra is like snow in spring, and some people are unwilling to read it.
For those of you who are practicing Buddhism here, ask yourself, do you really believe in the cause and effect of three lifetimes? Don’t deceive yourself, sometimes you don’t believe it!
Do you really believe in hell? The basis of Buddhism, regardless of Mahayana or Mahayana, is based on the cause and effect of the three lives. Most people reluctantly believe in it, but it is difficult to prove it. Unless you have reached the third level of Zen or above and can see it clearly in concentration, then you can almost truly believe it.
The "Vimalakīrti Sutra" says here that only the truly great Bodhisattva is the great medical king, who is good at curing all the diseases of sentient beings. He can give him whatever medicine he is sick with, including both material and spiritual medicine. Let all living beings take the medicine according to the prescription. Get relief.
"Immeasurable merits and virtues are achieved, and immeasurable Buddha lands are pure and pure." There are thunderous sounds here, like thunder, but no living beings can hear it. If you want to learn Buddhism and achieve enlightenment, you must grasp these two sentences! If you don’t have the qualifications to cultivate merit, don’t expect success.
How to start cultivating merit? Don't do any evil and do all the good. That is to say, don't do good deeds because they are small, and don't do evil deeds because they are small.
If there is no meritorious achievement, there will be obstacles everywhere. Both the body and mind will be demonic obstacles, and the internal and external environment will be obstacles.
The achievement of immeasurable merit and virtue is the achievement of blessings, and the achievement of immeasurable Buddha land is the achievement of wisdom. How can countless Buddha lands be pure and pure? The heart is pure and the land is pure, so your thoughts must be pure. One breath and one breath is one thought, and there are 84,000 troubles in one thought among all sentient beings. Therefore, only by purifying your thoughts can you realize the pure purity of all the immeasurable Buddha lands.
"Everyone who sees and hears it will benefit from it. Whatever he does, he will not give it away." All sentient beings who see and hear this Bodhisattva will benefit from it. Everything we do is not in vain, not in vain.
"In this way, all merits and virtues are fully present." When you have cultivated to this point, you have the merits of merit and wisdom, and you are complete and sufficient. Speaking of this, they all praise the merits of Bodhisattvas.
Here I would like to mention the concept of the Buddhaland universe in Buddhism, which is basic common sense in Buddhism. One Buddha's land has three thousand great thousand worlds and one trillion four worlds. A solar system is a world, a thousand small thousand worlds, a thousand small thousand worlds are a middle thousand world, and a thousand middle thousand worlds are a great thousand world. Buddha had already put forward such a view of the universe two or three thousand years ago.
Dear friends, please note that the beginning of Lao Na's sermon this time is not from coming out, but from being, which is these five hundred elders' sons.
The Buddha used his magical power to close the five hundred treasure lids into one lid, and the lid rose into the sky, covering the entire void and the three thousand worlds.
The concept of these three thousand great thousand worlds has been explained before. It is the land of one Buddha and is within the reach of Buddha's power.
How vast the space of this world is, and how long the time is, are not hindered, they are all covered.
It looks like a myth. If we stand on the ground and look up, the entire celestial body is a treasure cover. When you stand in different places in the world, you will see that the zenith above your head is different. The zenith that differs from your personal standpoint becomes a concept of the universe. This is not a myth, or it means that the universe is dome-shaped.
Furthermore, in these three thousand great thousand worlds, there are Mount Sumeru, Snow Mountain, Mount Mu Zhen Lin Tuo, Mountain Maha Mu Zhen Lin Tuo, Fragrant Mountain, Black Mountain, Iron Wei Mountain, Da Iron Wei Mountain, seas and rivers, streams and springs, and the sun, moon and stars, The Heavenly Palace, the Dragon Palace, and the divine palaces all appear in the treasure cover. In addition, the Buddhas of the ten directions and the Dharma of the Buddhas also appeared in the treasure cover.
According to Buddhist scriptures, the center of our world is Mount Sumeru, and the edge of the world is the Seven Golden Mountains, which contain endless treasures and stabilize the edges of the world to prevent it from cracking. This paragraph describes that under this treasure cover, the mountains, seas, rivers, sun, moon and stars of our world are all included.
At the same time, it appeared that all the Buddhas outside this world were preaching at the same time. Buddhism does not have the concept of one god, and there is no absolute master of the universe. Even Buddhism advocates that all living beings are originally Buddhas, that all living beings are equal, and that all living beings have simply lost their true nature, which is different from other religions.
At that time, the people present saw the Buddha's supernatural power and sighed that they had never seen such a scene.
"Sighing that there will never be anything" is a very good word. We use it very commonly today, but it was not easy to create it at the beginning.
The crowd was filled with admiration and clapped their hands together in salute. Putting your palms together shows respect and collects your distractions, just like the Chinese people's cupping of hands. The crowd stared at the Buddha without looking away for a moment, as if all eyes were on the Buddha.
"Eye as pure and wide as a green lotus" describes the Buddha's face. His eyes are large and long, with clear black and white. It seems to be said in the book that when kung fu reaches a certain level, you will have "blue eyes and square pupils." It is not the blue eyes of Westerners, but the eyes are energetic and the whites of the eyes are clear and flawless.
"The pure mind has achieved all meditations." The Buddha's state is that the heart has reached absolute purity, surpassing the state of meditation. It does not matter whether it is concentration or uncertainty, and it is no longer necessary to rely on the practice of meditation to reach a pure state. Please note that meditation is different from Zen Buddhism and should not be confused.
Through accumulated practice over many lifetimes, one can reach the state of immeasurable achievement and become a Buddha. Pure karma is not good karma. Good and evil are both yin and yang, and are relative.
Having no bad karma and only good karma cannot be regarded as pure karma. Pure karma means that neither good nor evil is attached to it, it has no attachment and no support, it is neither existence nor emptiness, and it is even emptiness. The Buddha's realm is pure karma, and all the Buddha's kingdoms in the ten directions and three times are pure lands. Because the mind is pure, the lands are pure.
The general meaning of the phrase "leading everyone to bow their heads in silence" means: as a teacher, he leads all sentient beings to enter Nirvana, so he kowtows to the Buddha.
Nirvana or nirvana is not death. It is beyond purity and tranquility. It is pure nature in the midst of incomparable turbidity and turmoil. It's like when you go to the top of a mountain and there is no wind and no sound, you are close to the state of silence.
But when you get there, or enter this realm during meditation, you may feel terrible.
"Having seen the great sage manifesting his divine transformations throughout the immeasurable lands of the ten directions," he saw that the supernatural powers displayed by all Buddhas were universally present in the immeasurable lands of the ten directions, omnipresent.
When people think of supernatural powers, they think of weird things. Supernatural powers are accessible to both humans and gods. When a person cultivates to the point where his spirit transcends matter, his spirit is connected with the concepts of the heaven, earth, universe, and the dharma realm, and various changes will naturally occur.
Therefore, we should not rely on the consciousness of ordinary people to seek supernatural powers. If the Buddha’s supernatural power is everywhere, why can’t we see it? For example, the sun is always at the zenith and we cannot see it at night. It is not because the sun does not shine on the earth, but because the place we are in is turned away from the sun.
Therefore, we cannot see the supernatural power of the Buddha or our own nature because our own delusions, worries, and karma hinder it.
In the immeasurable lands of the ten directions, all Buddhas are preaching the Dharma at any time. Only when the Dharma eyes of all living beings are pure and their minds are pure can they see and hear the Dharma. This is in line with the sentence: "Purified eyes are as wide as green lotus, and pure hearts have saved all beings." Meditation", one can naturally see and hear the teachings of the Buddhas of the ten directions.
Zen, the center of Mahayana Buddhism in China, is based on the Vimalakīrti Sutra. Below, Lao Ne will talk about the very important center:
"Dharma King has extraordinary power and always uses Dharma wealth to give everything." Dharma King is another name for Buddha. Becoming a Buddha is the king of all worldly laws. Don't think of this method as making mudra, reciting mantras, knocking wooden fish or doing it in your heart. Some weird visualizations; the true emptiness of the dependent origin of Dharma is present and cannot be seen. It is the great secret Dharma.
The power of Buddha's Dharma transcends all sentient beings and is beyond the imagination of all sentient beings. The Dharma of Buddha is eternal and unchanging. Regardless of whether the Buddha is alive or not, all good friends, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas always use Dharma wealth to make donations.
