There is a master in Xuedou Temple who specializes in lecturing on Buddhist scriptures - Lecturer. He has studied Buddhism very thoroughly, so when he talks about Buddhist scriptures, it can be said that flowers are falling from the sky and golden lotuses are flowing from the ground.

On this day, as usual, he lectured on sutras and treatises in the Dharma Hall, and the hundreds of listeners he lectured on were intoxicated and fell into silence.

When he talked about "the difference between sages and ordinary people", he was even more eloquent, talking endlessly about the nobility and magic of sages and the humbleness and insignificance of ordinary people...

Suddenly, the audience sneered: "Hey..."

The speaker took a closer look and saw that he was a monk with a big belly.

Only Budai monk dared to act recklessly in such a sacred and solemn place.

The lecturer said: "Budai monk, don't you agree with what I said?"

Monk Budai stood up and said: "The great road has no name, the great explanation is silent, the great enlightenment has no way, the great truth has no externality, the great enlightenment has no delusion, the great selfishness is selfless, the great tranquility has no stability, the great use is inaction, the great Dharma has no vehicle. Lord, you If I can put an end to the feelings of saints and mortals, I will tip the bag all the way down!" As he said that, he picked up the bag high in his hand.

However, although the lecturer was speaking eloquently, he had no enlightenment in his heart, so he was speechless and unable to answer the question correctly.

The Budai monk put away the Budai and walked out of the Dharma hall with a big smile.

Outside the Dharma Hall, his chanting voice came from:

Teng Teng is doing nothing at ease,

After all, Xianxian became a monk.

If you see the true path now,

It's a big surprise not to see any traces of it.

How different are all the laws and how different the mind is?

Why bother to use the meaning of seeking scriptures.

The king of the heart knows a lot by itself,

A wise man only knows the ground without learning.

Leisurely, the spring breeze has passed three times, the autumn geese have returned three times, and the Budai monk has aged three years again.

Although the Budai monk behaved absurdly, acted erratically, and acted erratically, he did not forget that his lay disciple Jiang Maha had been in seclusion for three years and should be released.

Budai monk returned to Yingjiashan on time to open the gate for Jiang Mohe.

As soon as Jiang Maha showed up, the Budai monk immediately asked: "Today I leave the pass and when do I enter the pass? If there is any entry and exit, it is not a Zen pass; if there is no entry and exit, who is called a Zen pass? Whether there is consistency, the entry and exit should be viewed equally. Wu Wei Zhi It means Bodhi Nirvana." After saying this, he said another verse:

Guan is neither inside nor outside but the center.

Zen meditation is profound and generous.

All the information and theories are gone,

What are the laws and regulations?

Jiang Maha had been in seclusion for three years. His kung fu had improved greatly, and his Zen mind was extremely bright. He immediately faced the Buddhist monk's Zen message and asked, "How to guide it?"

Budai monk paused his Zen staff and recited a verse that has never been forgotten through the ages:

Carry the bright moon on your shoulders and walk across the street,

Don't let go of the situation.

When you encounter a saint or an ordinary person, you will sit down and die.

You can live safely in the Holy Land of Silent Light.

What a "sitting down when encountering ordinary people and meeting saints", Jiang Maha was like an enlightenment, suddenly enlightened!

One bowl of food for thousands of families,

Traveling thousands of miles alone.

There are few people in Qingjian,

Ask Baiyuntou for directions.

More than a thousand years ago, in Zhejiang and southern Fujian, people often saw a monk and a layman, one fat and one thin, one wearing a cassock and the other wearing a Confucian robe, walking together. They either swagger through the city, or set foot in the mountains and rivers, travel in all directions, and travel to the ends of the earth.

Three hundred and sixty days passed by and became empty. Fortunately, there were mountains, mist, rivers and waves, and the natural picture was as beautiful as a dream;

Eighty-four thousand dharma, cultivating the true interests of the mind, vaguely spiritual vultures in the mountains, the coolest place under the Longhua tree.

One day, their master and apprentice came to Changting River.

The two of them bathed in the hot spring together to wash away the dust. Suddenly, Jiang Mohe discovered that Budai monk had an eye on his back!

He subconsciously exclaimed: "Monk, it turns out you are a Buddha!"

The Budai monk smiled and said to him: "You caught my eye, and the fate of master and disciple has come to an end. I'll take it!"

Jiang Maha understood in his heart that the "going" that Master said meant passing away. Although he had no worries at all when he was fully enlightened, he still couldn't help but sigh when he learned that he was about to say goodbye to his master forever.

The Budai monk laughed and said: "Man, how can you behave like a child? Well, I have been with you for several years, which can be regarded as a great cause and effect. All dharmas are caused by causes and conditions, and thanks to karma, they will also perish. This is Buddhism! "

The master and apprentice immediately returned to Fenghua.

They first came to the thatched hut in Yingjiashan. Monk Budai said slowly to Jiang Mohe: "You will leave children and grandchildren behind you. Do you want them to be rich and honorable?"

Jiang Maha said: "How can wealth last forever? I just hope that my descendants will last forever."

The Budai monk then took out the cloth bag that he never left behind, passed it on to Jiang Maha, and said: "I have nothing else, so I will give this cloth bag to you. Your descendants and grandchildren will have a home for generations to come." .”

After bidding farewell to Jiang Maha, Monk Budai returned alone from Yingjiashan to Yuelin Temple where he had been away for many years.

This day is the third day of March.

That night, Budai monk sat cross-legged on a large four-foot-square bluestone in the east corridor of Yuelin Temple and said a verse:

Maitreya, true Maitreya,

There are tens of billions of clones.

Show the world from time to time,

No one in the world knows it.

After saying that, he smiled slightly and passed away.

At this time, the monks in Yuelin Temple suddenly understood, my God, this crazy and mysterious Budai monk turned out to be the incarnation of Maitreya Bodhisattva!

Sitting and lying on the bridge, my heart follows the flowing water to the sea;

Sitting on the edge of the stone, his nature is smooth and the ice is cold.

This day is destined to be an extraordinary day.

When the first ray of sunlight tears through the night covering the earth, and when the first bird call breaks through the silence of the morning, the city of Rajgir immediately becomes noisy.

Early in the morning, people in the city, carrying the old and the young, rushed out of the city gate...

Because Sakyamuni Buddha will preach the miraculous Dharma on the Vulture Mountain on the outskirts of the city today.

The blue sky is as clear as water, deep and vast. The morning sun radiates golden light, shining in the cave, and the stream flows with jingling songs like gold; the sunlight spreads among the trees, and the countless dewdrops on the leaves shine with a dreamlike luster; on the gentle hillside, the green The grass is green and the wild flowers are blooming, as if covered with a colorful flower carpet...

In the bright morning light, the Buddha finally ascended the Vajra Seat.

The Buddha closed his eyes and sat quietly for a moment. He slowly opened his wise eyes, and his kind gaze slowly passed through everyone's eyes. As a result, everyone felt an infinite warm joy...

At this time, King Brahma came down from the top of the Vulture Mountain, knelt down on one knee, and presented a beautiful Udala flower (golden lotus) to Sakyamuni Buddha.

The Buddha took the budding flower with a mysterious smile on his lips, and then silently displayed the beautiful flower in front of the public.

Seeing the Buddha displaying flowers to the public, thousands of monks and tens of thousands of people sitting quietly below, although they all felt a wonderful atmosphere, it was like looking at flowers in the mist or looking at the moon in the water, hazy and misty, but not quite. clear.

In the midst of the confusion, only the great disciple of the Buddha, the Venerable Mahakassapa, suddenly realized the most sacred truth of life in the universe from the smile of the Buddha.

He couldn't help but smile knowingly - at this moment, he and the Buddha had a heart-to-heart connection. It seemed that a stream of the most wonderful, truest and clearest truth flowed into him from the Buddha's heart. in my heart...

A beam of spiritual light shines through the world, holding a flower and smiling reveals the Zen spirit.
